Li Guochen Taken to Brainwashing Facility the Day of His Release from Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Li Guochen in Changchun City, Jilin Province was arrested by the local police in March 2008 and put in the forced labor camp for 1½ years. On June 8, 2009, Mr. Li was taken to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Facility by the police and the local 610 Office personnel on the same day that he was released from the labor camp.

Mr. Li, 36 years old, lived at Houluotun in Fengchan Village, Yutan Township, of the Economic and Technology Development District in Changchun City. At around 9:00 p.m. on March 17, 2008, while he was driving on Weixingchun Road in Yingjun Village, Erdao District, the village Political and Security Director and the officers of Yingjun Police Station arrested him and seized his car. The police tortured him and interrogated him. They beat and tortured him during the entire night, leaving bruises all over his body and face, and breaking one of his teeth. On April 3, the police took him to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp to serve a 6-month term.

At the time, Mr. Li's mother was suffering from schizophrenia and could not care of herself, his father had a heart disease, his wife was out of work, and they had a 5-year-old child. The family relied on Mr. Li's taxi income for support. After his arrest, the family was in a dire situation.

On June 8, 2009, expecting his release and return after many months of waiting, Li's family went to wait in front of the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. It was past 9:00 a.m. when they still did not see him. The concerned family members went to ask the police and were told, "We cannot release anyone without the signature of the 610 Office. The family members went to the 610 Office and found out that they were going to take Mr. Li to a brainwashing facility. That afternoon, a group of police officers took Mr. Li to the brainwashing facility from the forced labor camp.

Mr. Li's wife was very angry. She told the police, "Mr. Li's parents both suffer from serious illnesses. They need his care. Since he had been put in the labor camp, I had to find work and tend to the household at the same time. The hardship was incredible. I need my husband to share the burden, and our child needs his care and affection. Mr. Li followed Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person. He did nothing against the law. He was arrested, put in the forced labor camp, and was further persecuted after his release. The treatment of the police towards the people is illegal. They are trampling on human rights and the law. They will be held responsible and face all consequences."

The police did not know how to respond and said, "This is the decision of the higher authority, (610 Office). They still would not let Mr. Li go. Under the family members' strong request, they let his family stay for a while to take care of him.
