  • San Francisco, U.S.A.: Falun Gong Practitioners File Criminal Lawsuit Against Huang Huahua For Participating in the Persecution of Falun Gong

    Minghui/Clearwisdom Correspondent from San Francisco

On the morning of October 14, 2005, International Advocates for Justice and Human Law Projects filed a criminal complaint to the U.S. Federal Court in Northern California against Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province of the Chinese communist regime, for torture. The complaint also asked the Federal courts to thoroughly investigate Huang's crimes and carry out a criminal trial of those who have committed crimes of torture outside the U.S., in accordance with federal laws. In the meantime, the complaint requested the Federal Court to inform the U.S. Customs, Immigration Office, Homeland Security and the FBI about Huang Huahua's crimes.

Falun Gong practitioners call for an end to the persecution outside the hotel where Huang Huahua conducts his business event.

On October 14, Huang Huahua and his delegation held a commercial event at the Hilton in San Francisco to attract investment in China. Falun Gong practitioners from the Bay Area unfurled banners outside the hotel. The banners read, "Bring Evil Police and Evildoers Who Persecute Falun Gong to Justice," and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong in China." They held a press conference at noon to publicize the lawsuit against Huang Huahua. One of the plaintiffs, Ms. Zhou Xuefei came to the site and bore witness.

Ms. Zhou Xuefei originally worked as a best seller editor at an advertisement company in Shenzhou City, Guangdong Province. Because she practices Falun Gong, she was unlawfully sentenced to 3 years in a labor camp where she almost lost her eyesight due to the persecution. Later, through overseas practitioners' great rescue efforts and support and help from U.S. government officials and international human rights organizations, she was rescued to the U.S. at the end of last year. Ms. Zhou said, "Many Falun Gong practitioners are illegally imprisoned in the labor camp. At one time, the vicious guards used four electric batons to simultaneously beat and shock a female practitioner. The miserable cries due to the torture made one tremble with fear..."

Outside the hotel, many members of the Guangdong delegation could see the Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful protest through their window

Ms. Duan Li, representative from the Western American Falun Dafa Association pointed out that according to incomplete statistics, during Huang Huahua's tenure as Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Communist Party Committee, thirteen Falun Gong practitioners died from the persecution, three practitioners became handicapped due to torture, three practitioners were persecuted so badly that they suffered a severe mental collapse, and sixty-six Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to various tortures. Because the Chinese communist regime tightly blocks off the flow of information, the actual persecution cases could be much more than what is known.

In addition, international human rights organizations have already confirmed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. The Chinese communist regime's persecution of spiritual belief has been documented at length by the United Nations and other international human rights organizations. The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, UN Working Group on Disappearances, and UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions have issued their reports on this regards.

Ms. Duan Li said that according to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Act, Section 212(a)(2)(G), and International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 (IRFA), foreign government officials who have engaged in particularly severe violations of religious freedom in the past 24 months, and their spouses and children, are inadmissible to the United States.

The criminal lawsuit filed against Huang Huahua is the first suit Falun Gong practitioners filed after the Falun Dafa Association announcement was published on October 9, 2005. The announcement pointed out that, "Those who refuse to do the right thing and instead continue to follow Jiang's [Zemin's] scoundrel regime's persecution policies will be severely punished as perpetrators of unforgivable crimes."

"At this critical historical moment, the Falun Dafa Association has made a special announcement: From today on, overseas Falun Gong practitioners will file civil or criminal lawsuits against all important government or CCP officials who participate in or continue to implement the persecution of Falun Gong and as a result, commit new crimes in addition to those they have already perpetrated against Falun Gong.."

Some Chinese government officials complained about overseas Falun Gong practitioners' legal actions and considered that the suppression of Falun Gong was decided by "national policies" and they themselves should not be taken accountable as they just passively "executed the policies." In response, U.S. Falun Gong practitioners pointed out that it's understandable that people tend to protect their vested interests. However, it indeed violates the law to take the blood and lives of Falun Gong practitioners, who follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, as a price to protect their vested interests. In addition, the persecution plays an extremely bad role in that it demolishes social morality and destroys social stability. Killing is killing. Whether you take the initiative to kill or you passively kill for others, you are still committing a crime.

Vancouver, Canada: Press Conference Calls on Government to Bar Entry to Huang Huahua

At noontime on October 13, Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in downtown Vancouver to expose Huang Huahua's crimes against practitioners in Guangdong Province and to call on the federal government not to allow Huang to enter Canada. Huang is the governor and deputy provincial Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary of Guangdong Province. Reportedly, Hua will lead a provincial delegation to visit Vancouver from October 20 to 25.

Huang Huahua is the Prime Perpetrator of the Persecution in Guangdong Province

While Huang was the CCP secretary of Guangzhou City, he was in charge of directing and implementing the persecution. Under his direction, branches of the 610 Office were formed quickly at all levels of the city, which directly carried out the government's persecution policy. Consequently, many practitioners were unlawfully detained, imprisoned, subjected to brainwashing and tortured, resulting in the death of more than ten Guangzhou practitioners including Gao Xianmin, Chen Chengyong, Hao Yunjuan and Luo Zhixiang.

In January 2000, 41-year-old Gao Xianmin died from being force-fed with a highly concentrated salt-water solution. On December 2, Ms. Luo Zhixiang, who was pregnant, was persecuted to death. According to incomplete statistics, during Huang's tenure in Guangzhou, 14 practitioners were persecuted to death, 3 were disabled, 3 suffered a mental collapse and at least 66 practitioners were brutally tortured.

Guangdong Province is one of the worst provinces in terms of persecuting Falun Gong. In 2003, Huang was promoted to governor of Guangdong Province and the persecution in the province was then continuously escalating. In February 2004 and January 2005, Huang publicly instigated hatred and deployed persecution activities against Falun Gong. To date, it has been verified that 64 practitioners in Guangdong have been persecuted to death, and most of the deaths happened after Huang became the governor.

Recently, a lot of practitioners have been illegally arrested at home or work, and then sentenced to forced labor camps. The whereabouts of some practitioners are still unknown. According to incomplete statistics, 109 practitioners have been unlawfully arrested from January to June 2005.

During the 6-year persecution, Huang has closely followed the Jiang Zemin regime to persecute Falun Gong. Huang has not only directed the Guangzhou and Guangdong governments to implement Jiang's genocidal policy of "Defame their reputation, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically" against practitioners, but also personally went to lower level governments and even labor camps to encourage officials and state employees to carry out violent brainwashing and physical torture. The provincial government has been tightly controlling the media to fabricate lies in order to frame and slander Falun Gong and to instigate public hatred against the practice. In the past 6 years, many practitioners who refused to give up their belief have been unlawfully subject to arrest, violent brainwashing, torture and labor camp or prison terms. A lot of practitioners have been unlawfully deprived of their right to work, of going to school and of their entitled pensions. Furthermore, their relatives' normal lives were also severely disrupted by the authorities. These persecutory policies have left the practitioners under tremendous mental strain and in extreme poverty. Huang should be held accountable for the brutal persecution in Guangdong.

Calgary Practitioner, Originally from Guangzhou, Recounted His Experience

I was arrested on December 13, 2000, together with three other practitioners. Right there in the police station we were brutally beaten from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning. I was hit repeatedly with an electric baton. I was also kicked repeatedly, and my head was grabbed and bashed hard against the corner of the wall. When I passed out from the beating, they poured cold water on me to wake me up. It was the month of December.

I was then sent to a forced labor camp, where I was forced to do slave labor for five and a half months. On average, we had to work about 16 or 17 hours a day, sometime even 20 hours. The food was very bad, only some rabbit meat, Chinese cabbage and bean sprouts with little salt and oil. I consequently became very weak.

On May 23, 2001, I was officially sentenced to two years in a labor camp and then secretly sent to the Intensive Torture Team of Guanzhou No.1 Forced Labor Camp, where I was subjected to more systematic mental and physical torture. I was subjected to intensive brainwashing, forced to watch videos and books which were fabricated to defame Falun Gong and Falun Gong's founder, not allowed to see my wife who is also a practitioner, and they attempted to force me to denounce my belief."

A Canadian Citizen Originally from China Recounted What Happened to Her Daughter

Naturalized Canadian citizen, Du Huiqin, 78, came from Zhongshan City, Guangdong. During the press conference, Ms. Du recounted what happened to her daughter: "My daughter Yang Jinyan had severe sinusitis since her childhood and later it became cancer. She often felt lightheaded, had a headache, and suffered from bleeding and had severe insomnia. However, she totally regained her health from practicing Falun Gong.

Since the persecution started in 1999, my daughter has been arrested six times, and her husband and their child were also affected. My son-in-law was a public bus driver. He was suspended from his position and forced to sign a promise letter with the Public Security Bureau to stay at home to monitor his wife. Consequently, the family had no income.

On December 7, 2004, more than 10 policemen from the Qijiang Police Station of Zhongshan City unlawfully arrested my daughter from her home. Family members were not allowed to visit her for 2 months. In January, 2005, my daughter sent out a short letter from which we learned that she had been unlawfully sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp. She is now being detained in the 3rd Brigade of Sanshui Women's Labor Camp; her ID number is 984.

Through various Vancouver Chinese associations, the related government institutions of Zhongshan City told us to remain silent about our daughter's situation and asked me to go back to China to negotiate with them. In February, 2005, I went back China to rescue my daughter. In three months, I only had two opportunities to visit my daughter. I appealed to those institutions, but no one paid attention to me. My daughter has been forced to do hard labor and has developed high blood pressure, and her overall health condition is very bad."

Canadian Officials Reportedly Said that the Government Would Take All Possible Action

Given the fact that Huang's crimes meet the entry denial regulations of Canadian immigration law (Sections 35 (1) (a) and 3 31), practitioners have formally requested the federal government to not allow Huang Huahua to cross the Canadian border.

During the press conference, a letter to the Ministry of Immigration, Community Security and Correctional Services, and the Attorney General, written by renowned human rights lawyer David Matas, was read. The letter stated that Huang was directly responsible for the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Guangdong Province and should not be allowed to enter Canada.

Reportedly, on October 13, the Canada Border Services Agency of Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program notified the chairman of the Falun Dafa Association of Canada and said that the agency had received materials which detailed Huang's participation in the persecution of Falun Gong, and promised that the agency would take all proper action according to Canadian law.

Russia: The 2005 Russian Falun Gong Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference Successfully Held in Moscow

The 2005 Russian Falun Gong Practice Experience Sharing Conference took place in Moscow on October 8th and 9th. Practitioners from many cities in Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, France, America, Sweden, and other countries took part in the conference. Nineteen practitioners shared their experiences during the session.

The 2005 Russian Falun Gong Practice Experience Sharing Conference

A practitioner from Moscow, Mitsar, talked about reading Zhuan Falun to his severely ailing mother. She improved a lot in body and spirit. His mother experienced the wonder of Falun Gong from the bottom of her heart, so she actively supported him in practicing Falun Gong and exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Another practitioner from Moscow, Zwoya, reported her experiences of holding banners and placards with other practitioners in front of the Chinese Embassy for more than a year, urging the Chinese Communist regime to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. She also discussed exposing the persecution to the local police and Chinese residents.

A practitioner from Carlushia talked about her experiences of exposing the persecution for several years in her local area. Another practitioner Nachia, from Irkutsk, sent a written speech because she couldn't be present in person. She talked about getting rid of various types of interference and difficulties while telling the Chinese people living in her area and near the Chinese borders about the persecution. Her name was entered on a "blacklist" which brought difficulties to herself and her family. She was forbidden from entering China with her husband and children.

Lima, a practitioner from Latvia, shared her experience in Falun Gong practice, in explaining the truth of Falun Gong to senior government officials and in exposing the persecution in China. She also wrote to the President directly to recommend the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, published by the Epoch Times. As a result of unremitting perseverance by practitioners, great effects emerged. The Latvian President replied to her letter in person to express his gratitude.

All practitioners cherished each speaker's experience sharing and encouraged one another. The whole auditorium took on a compassionate and peaceful atmosphere. During the conference, group reading of Falun Gong books and sharing on specific topics were also organized.

The 2005 Russian Falun Gong Practice Experience Sharing Conference came to an end smoothly on the afternoon of October 9th.

Edmonton, Canada: Falun Gong Practitioners Demand that Huang Huahua Be Barred from Entering Canada

On October 13, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners in Alberta Province held a press conference in front of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ms. Anne McLellan's Edmonton Office to call on the Minister to bar Huang Huahua, current Governor of Guangdong Province, from entering Canada. Huang, who has severely violated human rights in China, is to lead a delegation to visit Canada.

Mr. Kevin Duan relates his personal experience of the persecution in China

During the press conference, Falun Gong spokesperson Chen Xia read a letter from renowned international human rights attorney, David Matas. The letter pointed out that Huang Huahua actively cooperated with former president Jiang Zemin's faction to persecute Falun Gong. Guangdong Province became one of the provinces where the persecution is extremely severe. Huang Huahua cannot be excused of his responsibility in the persecution. Falun Gong practitioners also wrote a letter to related Canadian Ministers and requested them to bar Huang Huahua, guilty of crimes against humanity, from entering Canadian territory.

Mr. Kevin Duan, a Falun Gong practitioner who came from Guangdong Province related his personal experience of the persecution he suffered when he was in China. Kevin Duan said, on the night of December 13, 2000, because he practices Falun Gong and told local people the facts about Falun Gong and compiled some truth-clarification materials, the Guangzhou Municipal 610 Office and the Tianhe District 610 Office secretly arrested and detained him and other three practitioners without just cause or legal procedures. Afterwards, he was beaten for seven straight hours. As a result, he lost consciousness and his body was covered with bruises.

Later, Mr. Duan was sent to a detention center and was forced to do slave labor for five months and two weeks. He was forced to work an average of 16 to 17 hours a day, with the maximum being 20 hours. Each meal they were provided with only contained radish or cabbage, or bean sprouts with very little oil or salt. He became undernourished and weak It was said that this is the usual practice in detention centers and prisons, to prevent "criminals" from escaping.

On May 23, 2001, Kevin Duan was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. He was secretly sent to a brigade dedicated to suppressing Falun Gong in Guangzhou No. 1 Forced Labor Camp, where he suffered systematic mental and physical tortures. In the labor camp, Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to intense brainwashing. They were forced to watch video programs and to read books and newspapers that slandered the founder of Falun Gong. They were forced to accept the "help and instruction" from those who renounced their belief under pressure, and "assistance" from outside the labor camp (namely, practitioners were handcuffed and shackled and were sent under escort to other labor camps or brainwashing centers), as well as the "assistance" from society (for instance, listening to lectures given by so-called medical doctor Chen from Foshan Municipal Psychiatric Hospital). The labor camp forbade Falun Gong practitioners' wives from visiting them and tried to force practitioners to write the three statements. In doing so, the labor camp attempted to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief.

Kevin Duan stressed in his speech that Jiang's faction and the Chinese Communist Party persecute Falun Gong and made the suppression a systematic national policy and no actual laws are followed. During his detention, his non-practitioner father spent 100,000 yuan to try to get him out. In the end, the money was spent, but the response obtained was, "We can help if he committed murder or rape, but the [persecution of] Falun Gong is the policy from the upper governmental levels and it is beyond our scope to help." Even attorneys didn't dare to accept the case, with the excuse of "policy from upper level officials."

The Chinese communist regime persecutes Falun Gong while using all means to cover up its crimes. For instance, they stated, "promoting Falun Gong" as the reason on the detention form, but on the document of the forced labor sentence, they did not mention Falun Gong at all. Instead, they fabricated the charge of "disturbing social order." When I was beaten up, they did not allow my wife to visit me, fearing that their evildoing would be disclosed.

Finally, Kevin called upon those Chinese communist officials who participated in the suppression of Falun Gong to realize the inevitable momentum: The Chinese Communist Party, which is against heaven's will, is about to disintegrate and the persecution will not last long. The final trial of those evildoers is approaching. He called on the Chinese officials to stop assisting the evil and to abandon the evil path and choose a good path instead.

After the press conference, Falun Gong spokesperson Chen Xia visited Minister McLellan's office and delivered the Falun Dafa Association announcement, human rights attorney David Matas's letter and an account of Kevin Duan's and other two Guangdong Falun Gong practitioners' personal experiences of the persecution. They also included the document that recorded Huang Huahua's crimes committed in the persecution of Falun Gong, a list of names of the persecuted practitioners and a petition letter signed by local residents. Anne McLellan's secretary accepted all the materials and said that she would deliver the packet to the Minister.

Hong Kong: Falun Gong Practitioners Proclaim Announcement in Front of the China Liaison Office to Urge Chinese Communist Party Officials to Forsake Evildoing

On the morning of Friday, October 14, 2005, a group of Falun Gong practitioners gathered on the street opposite the China Liaison Office in Hong Kong. They displayed posters to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and unfurled banners to call for an end to the persecution. In particular, they included the Falun Dafa Association announcement published on October 9 on their banners to sternly advise those government officials and public figures who have assisted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to persecute Falun Gong practitioners to take this opportunity to forsake their evildoing. Practitioners urged them to immediately stop the persecution, so that they would not lose their bright future under Heaven's law that good and evil will receive due reward or retribution. The event drew attention from passers-by, and practitioners handed out flyers to them.

Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners read out the Falun Dafa Association announcement in front of the China Liaison Office

Falun Gong practitioners send forth righteous thoughts on the street opposite the China Liaison Office.

At about noon, several Falun Gong practitioners walked from the place where they held the sit-in appeal to the front gate of the China Liaison Office, and solemnly unfurled the banner imprinted with the Falun Dafa Association announcement. The announcement stated, "Ever since the publication of The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Chinese people have more clearly recognized the nature of the CCP and the evil nature of the persecution. More than 4.8 million have withdrawn from the CCP and its related organizations. Heaven's destruction of the CCP is a historical inevitability. Gods must punish those criminals who have sinned against Falun Gong. Those who refuse to do the right thing and instead continue to follow Jiang's scoundrel regime's persecution policies will be severely punished as perpetrators of unforgivable crimes."

The announcement warned that overseas Falun Gong practitioners will file civil or criminal lawsuits against all government or Chinese Communist Party officials who participate in or continue to implement the persecution of Falun Gong once they leave China. In the meantime, the announcement also advised that those who have followed the CCP and committed wrongdoings still have the opportunity to abandon their evil path and choose to do good.

Together with fellow practitioners from all over the world, Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners are trying their best to convey the message of the Falun Dafa Association announcement to Chinese government officials at all levels and people from all walks of life as quickly as possible.

Germany: "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" International Art Exhibition Tours Eastern Germany

In the bright autumn days of September, the "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" International Art Exhibition toured cities in the eastern Bavarian region of Germany. The paintings were first shown in the tourist city of Cham in the Bavarian forest. The Mayor of Cham gave an address at the opening ceremony and called on more people to pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong in Mainland China.

The exhibition opened with a traditional Chinese dance and the guest speeches. Realizing the severity of the persecution in China, the audience showed deep respect for the spiritual connotations and profound meaning of the artwork.

Bonner Rundschau ran a pre-report for the art exhibition

Two local newspapers in Cham reported on the art exhibition.

Many visitors wrote in the guest book that they were genuinely moved by how beautiful the exhibition was. "This art exhibition is a miracle. Such brightness!" "We are all surrounded by lightness. Thank you!" "Everything is changing for the better!" "Thank you for the art exhibition and the profound talk. I Hope Falun Gong and 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' will spread across the world."

Exhibition guide thoroughly explains the art painting, "Position"

Artists, exhibition sponsors and Falun Gong practitioners discuss the art

An older lady wrote down the feelings in her heart.

A young couple pondered while viewing the paintings.

Two girls said they would take the lotus flowers from the exhibition back to their respective home countries of Poland and Russia.

Among the visitors were retired couples, company employees, vacationing students, housewives and children. A common feeling shared by all was that the show exemplified a return to tradition, a return to pure art, and that the persecution of Falun Gong in Mainland China was truly beyond comprehension.

After seeing the pictures, many visitors were quite interested in Falun Gong and expressed a wish to study the principles of the practice. A woman who owned a bookstore committed herself to carrying, "A Report of the Persecution of Falun Gong" so that more people could learn the truth.

Two girls said that the show was brilliant. They said they would take the lotus flowers from the exhibition back to their respective home countries, Poland and Russia.

Some people told the guide they could feel the strong energy emitted from the art works. After seeing the paintings, children could feel the very strong, comforting energy when learning the Falun Gong exercises. A young mother had an extremely emotional expression standing in front of the painting of a statue of the Buddha, as if the moment she had been waiting for the longest time had finally arrived. Many more people wept quietly while pondering in front of the paintings. What they felt was often beyond expression.

Among the extensive media coverage of the exhibition, several newspapers, such as Bonner Rundschau, ran promotions while Cham's two local newspapers reported on the event.

In the last weekend of September, the "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" Art Exhibition was held in Passau's Holiday Inn. The exhibition left visitors deeply impressed.

Upon seeing the advertisement for the event, an artist immediately came to visit. He admired the painting, "The Unity of Heaven and Man." As an artist, he strives to depict righteousness. In his opinion, "The Unity of Heaven and Man" was an excellent piece leading art back onto a righteous course. After explaining the painting, the guide also mentioned that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Gong. Accepting a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party, the artist promised to read it thoroughly in order to see through the evilness of CCP.

One elderly lady, who was very emotional after seeing the pictures, talked for a long time with the guide. She firmly declared that the CCP had brought mankind so much tribulation that we should never allow CCP to stage a comeback, or such tragedies would be repeated. She also expressed her most sincere blessings for the exhibition.

The "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" Art Exhibition was welcomed by the people of eastern Bavaria. In the art works people saw true goodness and evil, and the divine law that good and evil are rewarded or punished accordingly.
