  • Korea: Bo Xilai Charged With Genocide

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting/forum (APEC) was held from November 12 to November 19, 2005 in Busan, Korea. Bo Xilai, China's Minister of Commerce, entered Korea via Kimhae on November 15 to attend the forum. Falun Gong practitioners in Korea filed a lawsuit against him with the local prosecutor's office in Seoul, charging him with genocide, engaging in illegal arrests, unjustifiable imprisonment, torture and other charges.

Zhang Shu, one of the plaintiffs said that the lawsuit against Bo Xilai is a warning to all perpetrators responsible for persecuting Falun Gong, and to let them know "goodness is rewarded and evildoing will reap its own peril." At the same time, the plaintiffs also want to inform the Korean government, the Korean people and other people in the world of the importance of ending the persecution of Falun Gong.

Between 1999 and 2003, Bo Xilai acted as mayor of Dalian City, deputy secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee of Liaoning Province and governor of Liaoning Province. According to available estimates, as of November 2005, at least 333 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death in Liaoning Province, including Ms. Gao Rongrong whose facial disfigurement and brutal murder shocked the international community. Bo Xilai also built large-scale prison facilities, one of which is the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, known for its atrocities. Liaoning Province is one of the regions in China where the most severe persecution is carried out.

Falun Gong practitioners pointed out that Bo Xilai aided Jiang Zemin and the evil CCP in persecuting Falun Gong. He was quickly promoted as Minister of Commerce for his role in fanatically persecuting and killing innocent Falun Gong practitioners. His evil reputation as a persecutor of Falun Gong is also widely known around the world.

According to a report on the Minghui website, Bo Xilai was served with a lawsuit in Washington, DC in 2004. The lawsuit charges him with genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. Falun Gong practitioners in the United Kingdom, Poland and Russia also filed lawsuit against him. Recently, Falun Gong practitioners in the UK applied for an arrest warrant against Bo Xilai with a court in London during his visit to Europe. Soon after that visit he was served with a lawsuit in Spain.

Holland: Practitioners Read Falun Dafa Association Announcement in front of the Chinese Embassy

The Falun Dafa Association published an announcement on October 9, 2005, warning all those who assist the Chinese Communist regime to persecute Falun Gong, including officials in Chinese Embassies and Consulates, to stop doing evil. At 10:30 am on November 16, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners read the Falun Dafa Association Announcement in Chinese and English in front of the Chinese Embassy at the Hague in Holland.

The announcement states, "The persecution of persons based solely on their practice of the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance" is unconscionable. At the beginning of this persecution, many high-ranking officials in the government and the CCP disagreed with Jiang's policy of persecution, or dealt with the persecution passively. Some even resisted. Many high-ranking officials also practiced Falun Gong. During the past six years, through peaceful resistance and a courageous degree of endurance, Falun Gong practitioners have clarified the truth to the people the world over. People who were previously deceived have awakened or are in the process of learning the facts. As a result, they have refused to join the persecution."

"At this critical historical moment, the Falun Dafa Association has made a special announcement: From today on, overseas Falun Gong practitioners will file civil or criminal lawsuits against all important government or CCP officials who participate in or continue to implement the persecution of Falun Gong and as a result, commit new crimes in addition to those they have already perpetrated against Falun Gong..."

The announcement also pointed out, "The CCP regime is against the universe, and is about to collapse. It is now having difficulty sustaining the persecution. The final judgment of these evil criminals is imminent. However, one of the purposes of introducing Falun Gong to the human society is to save people, including people in all social statuses. Even for those who have committed wrongdoings, there is still an opportunity for them to abandon the evil path and choose to be good. For all those who have committed crimes against Falun Gong but want now to correct their mistakes, they can submit, under safe circumstances, a guarantee statement or regret letter to Minghui (Clearwisdom Net) or to any regional Falun Dafa Association to be archived. We will not investigate the various crimes of those who are determined to correct their mistakes. However, we will continue to monitor their actions."

During the process, people passing by and many who came into or out of the Embassy heard the announcement and accepted truth-clarification materials.

After reading the announcement, a practitioner put a copy of it into the Embassy's mailbox and hoped that the people in the Embassy would read it in person. When the practitioner delivered the announcement, a staff member from the Embassy rushed out to take pictures of practitioners and attempted to prevent practitioners from delivering the announcement. At this moment, a police officer who was standing on the side quickly came over and protected the practitioner and allowed him to smoothly insert the announcement into the Embassy's mailbox. In the end, the police officer shook hands with practitioners and wished them success.

Art Exhibit in UC Berkeley, California, USA

On November 15, 2005, in order to help more students and faculty members learn about Falun Gong and the persecution in China, the Falun Gong Club at the University of California Berkeley (UCB) held a "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" art exhibit on campus. A large number of students came to appreciate the paintings. Many of them attentively listened to the practitioners' introduction about the paintings, and some were moved to tears and many expressed the wish to learn Falun Gong.

Maria, a Falun Gong practitioner, told the visitors, "As an artist, I know that art is also a language which artists use to express their emotions and hearts."

According to Maria, all the artists who contributed to this exhibit are Falun Gong practitioners. These paintings are based on their personal experiences and reflection. Some of the paintings depict the elevation and purification of the spirit that come from practicing Falun Gong. Other paintings depict the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution of practitioners and the uncompromising spirit of practitioners who still compassionately clarify the truth to awaken the conscience of the public and even of the perpetrators, despite the suppression.

While a lot of students came to view these paintings out of curiosity, many of them were deeply moved by the exhibit and quite a few were moved to tears. A young student of Asian origin also came to the exhibit hall. Without stopping, he looked through the different sections of the exhibit quickly. However, he was drawn to stop when he saw paintings that depicted how practitioners are being tortured in China. He earnestly looked at the paintings and was apparently confused by the suffering of the practitioners shown in the images. A practitioner then told him that the paintings revealed some of the torture methods used by the CCP against Falun Gong practitioners in China.

The student then asked, "What is Falun Gong?"

The practitioner explained that Falun Gong is an ancient Chinese cultivation practice that teaches people to be good persons following the principles of 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.' The practitioner said that people obtain good health and a higher standard of morality through practicing Falun Gong.

The student then asked, "Why is the practice being persecuted if it is so good?" The practitioner explained that the persecution was launched by former Chinese leader, Jiang Zemin, and the CCP out of political interest and jealousy. The student commented that he had heard of some vicious things done by CCP.

"To secure its power, the CCP has killed many innocent Chinese and done countless vicious things. Before July 20, 1999, practitioners were allowed to practice Falun Gong.

Because the practice is very good, in just a few years since Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced Falun Gong in 1992, it soon attracted one hundred million people, including many high-ranking officials. Besides the fact that Falun Gong practitioners outnumbered CCP members, a major reason for the CCP to hysterically persecute Falun Gong is that the characteristics of the CCP are 'falsehood, hatred and struggle' while the practice of Falun Gong teaches 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.' If increasing numbers of Chinese choose to follow 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance,' then the CCP can't maintain its 'falsehood, hatred and struggle,'" the practitioner explained.

The student immediately came to understand the persecution. He then listened to the practitioners' introduction of all the paintings. He also asked, "Where can I learn Falun Gong?" Having realized that many students were eager to learn Falun Gong, UCB student practitioners arranged free Falun Gong workshops during the last two days of the exhibit. When the practitioner gave him information about the workshops, the student was excited and thanked the practitioner.

Ben, a member of the UCB Falun Gong Club, said that he founded the club together with several UCB students. He said that many students express their wish to learn Falun Gong after they viewed the exhibit.
