  • My Brother, Lin Mingli, Persecuted by Shanghai 610 Office Agents
By Lin Shenli, from Boston, USA

My younger brother, Lin Mingli, was illegally arrested by Shanghai police and brutally tortured at a labor camp for two years for practicing Falun Gong. He was freed from the labor camp due to rescue efforts from the Canadian government and others.

Yet, the wicked Communist regime has never stopped persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

A short time after my brother was reunited with his wife he was suddenly arrested again by 610 Office agents when the couple was taking a stroll inside their apartment complex. He has been detained since 2005, only because he persists in Falun Gong practice. The local 610 Office regard him as a major target.

When he was arrested on October 3, 2005, the 610 Office agents arrested his friends and tortured them in an attempt to extract a confession that could be used against him. They tried to coerce them into providing "evidence" against Lin Mingli, but their efforts failed.

Lin Mingli was clarifying the truth to people. People have freedom of speech. He was merely exercising his right as a Chinese citizen. The police ransacked his home from 10:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. but could not find anything to incriminate him. Personnel from the Putuo District 610 Office submitted his case to the court twice. It was not accepted either time due to lack of physical evidence and eyewitnesses.

At a recent court trial, Lin Mingli was sentenced to prison despite the absence of evidence. The trial verdict was premeditated, as was the sentence.

I again call for all kind-hearted people to help rescue my brother and many other Falun Gong practitioners who are incarcerated and cruelly tortured and who face the possibility of being brutally murdered at any time.

The Persecution of Ms. Han Guirong from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province

My name is Han Guirong. I'm a Falun Gong practitioner from Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province. I lived in Apt. 703, Unit 1, Building 3, Ymin Residential Area, New Dongfeng Village. I've been homeless and destitute for four years due to the persecution. I'm narrating my experience to expose this evil persecution.

After July 22, 1997, the police from the Tuanjie Road Police Station exerted pressure on my husband to make me renounce Falun Gong and prevent me from appealing for Falun Gong. They threatened to withhold my husband's paycheck and confiscate his apartment. Constable Han Shaojie and Police Chief Zhou Xianting had several meetings with my husband. Each time they coerced him into providing "guarantee statements" to force me to give up practicing Falun Gong. Due to the CCP's pressure and the malicious persecution, my husband deserted Falun Gong and used divorce as a means to try to frighten me. Since I had no job and owned no home, what awaited me after the divorce was homelessness and destitution.

In December 2000 I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. I unfurled a banner in Tiananmen Square and boldly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" I was arrested and taken to the police station in Tiananmen, where I was confined in a cage. In Beijing I saw the bravery of Falun Gong practitioners from all over the country solemnly validating the Fa. I was truly inspired by their magnanimity. Their magnificent feats made the evil afraid. Later, 40 of us were sent to Pinggu County Detention Center. None of us revealed our real names or addresses. Once inside the prison we began to protest the detention with hunger strikes. On the sixth day of the hunger strike I was released.

One evening in July 2001, around midnight, Police Director Zhang Baodong, Sun Jie, and other officers from the Tuanjie Road Police Station came in several police vehicles to my home and knocked at my door, demanding to arrest me. I locked the door, but the police shamelessly climbed up to the second story and forced their way into my house through the windows and began ransacking my home and demanding that I go to the local police station. I in turn demanded that they provide evidence and give me a valid reason as to why they were doing this at such a late hour. Police Director Zhang Baodong said that they had come to arrest me. He claimed his verbal orders were legal to make the arrest. I was arrested and taken to the police station. Officer Sun Jie asked me who else I knew and what they'd done. I replied, "I don't know anyone, nor have I done anything wrong." They illegally confined me for 15 days. Later they extended the punishment for another two months. On the 35 day, before the term was over, I was released because of an illness arranged by Master. At the time of my release they stole my copy of Zhuan Falun, my exercise music tape and 150 yuan. Later, when I asked Zhang Baodong about my money, he categorically denied any wrongdoing.

In April 2002 the police at the Tuanjie Road Police Station made several attempts to enter my home and harass me. When they couldn't find me they extended their search to my friends and relatives' homes. Because of this there were conflicts between the officers of the Sanchang Police Station and the Tuanjie Road Police Station. They repeatedly sent spies to watch my home. I was forced to leave. I became homeless and destitute because of this persecution.

When I was relocating, my relatives dared not help me for fear of being implicated. I was helped by other people who arranged everything because I couldn't go in person to do it. When the police realized I wasn't coming back, they began to openly seek my whereabouts. Before I relocated to my new residence, the police sent several spies to keep my house under surveillance for several days. They stole my address and they tapped my phone line. I didn't know about their shameless tactics, and when I returned from my old home, the police secretly followed me. The police attempted to arrest me when I changed vehicles. I asked Master to help me, and with his mercy and protection I was able to get away safely.

Finally the police found my former husband, and through him they managed to get my son's work address. From that day onward my son was afraid. He asked me not to go anywhere and to stay home. He was afraid the police would follow me to his home.

In another incident, I went to another practitioner's home to do some work, and some of the practitioners who came didn't pay attention to safety issues. One of them was followed. This resulted in his losing his position as a lab technician. He was transferred to another more physically demanding position. When this practitioner asked his supervisor why this had happened, he was bluntly told, "It's an order from higher levels. Since everyone knows you practice Falun Gong, the implications are not good."

In September 2005, many practitioners from our area were arrested, the truth clarification materials production center was ransacked, and once again the police broke into my house.

Three Family Members Died As a Result of the Persecution; Surviver Jailed in Detention Center

Mr. Zhao Guoxin and his wife, Ms. Wang Ying, both practice Falun Gong. They live in the Workers and Peasants District, Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. On July 28, 2001, Mr. Zhao was killed after he was illegally arrested by the Jiamusi Railway Police for having Falun Gong related materials with him. Ms. Wang's father and father-in-law could not bear the pain of losing him, and they also died one after the other. Despite these events, the police at Hegang still try to torment Ms. Wang Ying by searching her house and confiscating her property, sentencing her and torturing her. The following is this couple's story in more detail.

In July 2001, Mr. Zhao Guoxin's father-in-law was operated in Jiamusi Stomatological Hospital for the treatment of cancer under his tongue. On July 18, 2006, the day after the operation, Mr. Zhao took his daughter to visit his father-in-law at the hospital. The two planned to catch the train at 4:00 p.m. to go back to Hegang, but the inspector at the station found some Falun Gong related materials in Mr. Zhao's bag and questioned him and his daughter at Jiamusi Railway Local Station. Because Mr. Zhao refused to tell where the materials came from nor would he give them the details about his name and address, they confiscated his identification card.

At that time, his daughter remembered that she had her mother's pager on her and that if it were confiscated by the police, many practitioners could be in immediate danger. The daughter asked to use the toilet. The police refused. The daughter then said, "I am 16 years old. I will be so embarrassed if I wet myself." After her repeated begging, the police grabbed her arm fiercely and took her to the toilet. The daughter made up some excuses to demand her privacy and then got rid of the pager. When the daughter returned, her father was unconscious, his head fallen forward and his stomach swollen. Zhao Guoxin was then taken to a hospital for a CT scan. The results showed that he had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and lost a great deal of blood. He stopped breathing three hours later. According to legal and medical professionals, such heavy bleeding could only be caused by a sudden strong shake or blow. It is known that if the police put a soft layer on top of the body parts before beating someone, there will be no marks left on the body, no matter how severe the beating is. But in China no one dares to take Falun Gong practitioners' cases to the court, and still today, no charges have been brought over this matter.

Three months later, on November 3,2006, led by the chief of the police station. Wu Jianguo. with the involvement of the chief of  Hegang District Police Department, Li Shujiang, and the chiefs of Jiefang Road Local Police Station, Wang Qingwen and Li Shujiang, the police tried to break into Zhao Guoxin's home after 10 p.m. at night without due cause. Wang Ying and her daughter were awakened by furious banging on the door and voices announcing that it was the local police. Ms. Wang suggested they come back the next day as it was too late. The police refused to listen to her and started to smash and pry open the locked door. Finally the door was smashed open. A group of policemen turned the rooms upside down. They even confiscated the daughter's learning tape and brother's wedding video as "evidence." They also took Wang Ying to the Jiefang Road Local Police Station.

Police officer Li Shujiang beat Ms. Wang and tried to force her to tell where the Falun Gong materials were from. She did not cooperate. The next day Li Shujiang took her to the No. 2 Detention Center. Li Shulin, the director of the detention center, tortured Wang Ying by forcing her to wear a one meter long rod, with her hands tied to her ankles. Several people had to carry her to the toilet. He made her sit on the concrete floor for 17 to 18 days straight. He also deprived of sleep for 24 hours a day. As soon as she closed her eyes the criminal inmates beat her and poured cold water on her face.

Just after Zhao Guoxin's father-in-law's operation and while he was still having chemotherapy, he heard the news that his son-in-law had been beaten to death and his daughter had been arrested again. He was filled with such deep sorrow that his condition worsened until, in the end, he died. Zhao Guoxin's father also fell ill after he lost his beloved son and the detention center refused to let his daughter-in-law visit him. He also passed away after a few months.

Ms. Wang Ying bore great suffering and physical torture at the detention center. She was repeatedly questioned, served with arrest warrants, and sentenced. Later, she was detained at the Women's Prison of  Harbin City.

85-Year-Old Practitioner's Mother Arrested: Guilty Police Officers Remain at Large

On September 8, 2006, policemen Liu Zhongping and Liu Feng from the Kangping Police Station, Lishu County, Jilin Province, arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Meng Xiangqi and looted his cash, bank card and ID card. Later Mr. Meng was sentenced to six years in prison.

On October 30, Mr. Meng's 85-year-old maternal grandmother, Ms. Zhang Shulan, twice went to Liu Zhongping asking for her grandson's release and return of the confiscated cash. However, she was verbally abused and slapped in the face. Liu dragged her to the street.

Afterwards, she went to various departments to appeal for her grandson. She talked to the county sheriff, Li Youchang, two or three times but each time Li simply paid lip service, promising an investigation, but never took any action.

Hopeless, Ms. Zhang Shulan went to the streets to appeal to the general public. After learning of her situation, people were very indignant. Some called reporters to tell her story while others contacted the TV station or the Siping City mayor. However, none of those contacted ever did anything about it.

At 8:00 on the morning of November 16, Lishu County Police Department Chief Wang Xiaochun led a group of police to the street where Zhang Shulan and her daughter, Ms. Wang Guizhen, were making a public appeal and arrested them. While dragging them to the police van, the police severely injured Ms. Zhang's arms. As a result, she cannot take care of herself.

According to witnesses, Ms. Wang Guizhen was brutally beaten during the process. After learning the news, their relatives went to ask for their release, however, the police threatened to arrest them as well. Ms. Wang wasn't released until 10 days later.
