  • FGHRWG Appeals to UN Regarding Sujiatun Concentration Camp; UN Launches Investigation

On March 15, the Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group (FGHRWG) filed appeals to a number of human rights institution of the United Nations regarding the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) atrocities in the killing Falun Gong practitioners and harvest of their organs in the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. Many UN officials said that they were shocked by the atrocities and would take action to investigate. While the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong is well known, this inhumane practice of harvesting organs for sale is being exposed to the international community for the first time. Meanwhile, FGHRWG also filed an appeal to the European Parliament.

Professor Manfred Nowak, the UN Special Rapporteur, said that an appeal alleged that at least 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners had been killed in Sujiatun and their organs were sold for transplants. He said such a practice severely violated all international human rights covenants: It is not just torture, it deprives people of their right to live.

In an interview with Reuters, Professor Nowak said, "I am presently in the process of investigating as far as I can these allegations ... If I come to the conclusion that it is a serious and well-founded allegation, then I will officially submit it to attention of the Chinese government."

Professor Nowak conducted a two-week torture investigation in China last December. He is the first UN Special Rapporteur who has ever been to China to investigate torture claims. The investigation report was published last week in Geneva. The report not only points out that torture is widespread in China but also stressed that there is a culture of fear and that the persecution of Falun Gong is very severe. The report also enumerates many of the torture methods used by the CCP. Among the torture cases collected in the report, 66% were Falun Gong cases.

Professor Nowak pointed out in the report that China has the largest prison facility in the world, and he called on the Chinese Communist government to rescind the Laogai (labor reeducation) system and release all detainees.

In its appeal, FGHRWG also listed several cases in which practitioners were killed by the CCP and had organs stolen. They are Ren Pengwu of Harbin, Sun Ruijian of Ningde, Fujian Province, Hao Runjuan of Guangzhou, and Zuo Zhigang of Shijiazhuang.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, under the genocidal policy of the CCP, a large number of practitioners have disappeared. FGHRWG provided background information of several missing practitioners, including relatives of overseas practitioners, Hong Xiong, brother of Huang Wanqing, and Hu Zhiming, brother of Hu Zhihua.

Poland: Seminar in Polish Parliament Exposes the CCP's Crimes Against Falun Gong

On the 21st of March 2006, Polish Falun Gong practitioners, with the help of the Polish Government, held a seminar entitled, "The World and China without Communism" in the Polish Parliament. More than one hundred people reserved seats beforehand and attended the discussion. The audience consisted of officials from many departments of the Polish Government, Members of Parliament, scholars, many foreign diplomats who live in Warsaw and others. This seminar was sponsored by Polish members of the European Parliament and The Epoch Times newspaper. Speakers included a Polish MP, a Polish sinologist, a Polish human rights expert, German Epoch Times editor Ms. Weiss and Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Erping.

"The World and China without Communism" seminar was held in the Polish Houses of Parliament

Mr. Zhang Erping, as the keynote speaker of the seminar, told the audience about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution against Falun Gong in the last few years in Mainland China. He also told the audience about the recently disclosed shocking news of the CCP's harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners at Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital in Liaoning Province and cremating the bodies to eliminate evidence. He showed pictures of tortured Falun Gong practitioners, which reminded many Polish people present of the time when the Communist Party brutally persecuted the population in Poland. Zhang Erping thanked the Polish Government and people for their support for Falun Gong, and urged the international community to continue to be concerned and help to stop the CCP's violation of Chinese people's human rights in Mainland China.

With the facts and logics of social science, Mr. Zhang Erping analyzed the CCP's situation of being in crisis both in and outside China. He pointed out that China's current so-called wealthy society is actually putting on a false show of peace and prosperity. The figures estimated by Mainland Chinese officials and the World Bank do not match, but are only a temporary phenomenon in small regions. At the same time, The Epoch Times newspaper published the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and triggered the "Tide of Quitting the CCP" in Mainland China. To date, there have been more than nine million people who have openly withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. The foundation of the CCP has been shaken and its end is very near.

Zhang Erping pointed out that the CCP has constructed the most corrupt and wicked regime in history. From the way it persecutes kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioners, we can see that in order to maintain its dominance and deceit, the CCP does not hesitate to spend a quarter of the nation's total income on the persecution of Falun Gong and activate the whole country's propaganda and persecution system. This is something very unusual throughout history. Zhang Erping's explanation on the Falun Gong topic and the objective analysis of the current situation in Mainland China greatly interested the audience.

German Epoch Times editor Ms. Weiss told the story of The Epoch Times' development, as well as the worldwide impact made by the publication of the Nine Commentaries. At the same time, she introduced the situation of people quitting the CCP in China and the strong effects on overseas society made by the human rights movement initiated by Chinese lawyer Gao Zhisheng.

The Polish sinologist emphasized the importance of the Nine Commentaries, a piece of literature which, for the first time, allows the Chinese people to objectively see for themselves the true, dark history of the Chinese Communist tyranny. He said the commentaries are worth reading by everyone who cares about China's issues. According to his analysis and estimation, during its rule in Mainland China, the CCP has caused the unnatural deaths of nearly two hundred million people. This is the biggest tragedy in the history of mankind. This figure surpasses by far the now-commonly-believed number of eighty million deaths. He also pointed out that Falun Gong is part of China's authentic traditional culture, and not a so-called "evil [slanderous term omitted]". On the contrary, the CCP is the real evil cult and moreover, is more immoral than any other kind of evil cult.

A Polish human rights expert pointed out that in order to maintain its dominion, the CCP would persecute any group or community with a different ideology or belief. He urged everyone to boycott the 2008 Olympic Games which will be held in Beijing, because such an important international event like this being held in a country under the CCP's autocracy will clash with the Olympian spirit.

The audience takes a strong interest in the seminar

The seminar lasted three and a half hours, and the participants responded actively and would not leave the conference room until another seminar group needed to use it. Many Polish participants said that they had been persecuted by the Communist Party. Through this seminar, they have now gained a deeper understanding of the villainy of the Communist Party. They were supportive and sympathetic of Falun Gong's acts of justice.

It is reported that the newly elected Polish government hates Communism to the bone. As soon as they took up the reins of the government, they started a legal investigation into Communist bureaucrats who participated in persecuting the Polish people when the Polish Communist Party ruled.

Peru: Practitioners Condemn the CCP's Atrocities Inside the Sujiatun Concentration Camp

Upon hearing the news about the Sujiatun Concentration Camp set up by the Chinese Communist regime to kill Falun Gong practitioners for their organs, Peruvian practitioners were very concerned and saddened. To end the inhuman crimes as soon as possible, they printed a special Spanish-language newspaper detailing the crimes in the camp and distributed the paper to media outlets in Peru, the government and the public.

Practitioners protest in front of the Chinese Embassy

For two consecutive weeks, practitioners protested the atrocities in the Sujiatun Concentration Camp in front of the Chinese Embassy in Lima. On the morning of March 28, joined by practitioners from the U.S., Canada and Australia, they rallied in front of the embassy to support 9.2 million Chinese who have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. They called on the international community to investigate the Sujiatun Concentration Camp and called for action to end the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong.

Su Ying, a volunteer organizer of the Peru Falun Dafa Association, called upon the Chinese Embassy: "The CCP's genocide of Falun Gong practitioners in the Sujiatuan Concentration Camp is a human disgrace and cannot tolerated by heavenly principles. Stop the persecution of Falun Gong immediately. Heaven will punish every perpetrator of the persecution." Su also pointed out that 9.2 million Chinese had bravely quit the evil party and its affiliated organizations since the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in November 2004. She called upon officials inside the Chinese Embassy to learn from Chen Yonglin and Hao Fenjun, former CCP officials who bravely abandoned the evil regime and quit the CCP, for their own good.

Telling everyone about the atrocities of the CCP

Dr. Dayong Li, director of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, said, "On the eve of this great historic change, everyone and every country should take a stance on the CCP's atrocities and should not sacrifice conscience for commercial interest. South America shall not become a safe haven for the CCP officials." In addition, Dr. Li also called upon officials of Chinese Embassies and consulates to quit the evil party as soon as possible.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Yuzhi was brutally persecuted in China and later rescued to Canada. She recounted the persecution that she suffered in China. Regarding the fact that so many practitioners have disappeared, she believed that they may have been sent to concentration camps such as the one in Sujiatun, where they are being killed for their organs. She called on the international community to investigate the whereabouts of these missing practitioners.

Ms. Jane Dai from Australia also joined the rally with her little daughter Fadu. She said that she had traveled to 41 countries with her daughter to tell people about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Dai said, "The atrocities in the Sujiatun Concentration Camp can only be carried out by demons." She recalled that she was detained together with some 20 practitioners in the Tiananmen Police Station in October 2000 and said that she was very concerned about their whereabouts now.

Practitioner Harry Usseglio is businessman and holds a MBA degree. He said, "Chinese communist officials, Falun Gong is a peaceful practice and we practitioners have no inclination to violence. We come here to tell you: Stop the persecution of Falun Gong now!"

Gose Reina, a student of the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria (National University of Engineering), said, "The Chinese Communist party persecutes Falun Gong, however, the party is not the equivalent of China. Falun Gong is popular in China and welcomed by the public. Now the practice has spread to the whole world and we Peruvians like it very much."

Dr. Tian Xie, of the Epoch Times newspaper and a professor of the business school of Drexel University based in Philadelphia, called upon the officials inside the Chinese Embassy: "The CCP has persecuted Falun Gong for nearly 7 years, and you all have learned the truth. You know that all the activities of Falun Gong practitioners around the world have no political pursuit, and you know that more than 9 million Chinese have quit the CCP since the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2004. I hope you will distance yourselves from the persecution, for your own and your families' future. I hope you will quit the party with either your true name or a pseudonym."

During the rally, the Lima police dispatched several police officers to the site. Upon seeing that the rally was very peaceful and the participants were very rational, they accepted copies of the Nine Commentaries and Spanish-language Epoch Times and then left. Inside the guarded Chinese Embassy, now and then some officials watched the rally from windows. There were two officials who took photos of the crowd on the sly. When practitioners noticed this and took photos of them, they quickly backed off.

Texas: UTA Rally Protests the CCP's Atrocities in Sujiatun Concentration Camp

At noontime on March 29, the Friends of Falun Gong at the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA) and local practitioners held an activity in front of the main university library. They strongly condemned the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) atrocities in the killing of Falun Gong practitioners and harvesting their organs in the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. They further called upon President George Bush and the U.S. government to pay close attention to this case and bring this case to the meeting table with Hu Jintao during Hu's state visit in April. Meanwhile, they also collected signatures calling on the U.S. to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong, which will be sent to President Bush.

UTA Professor Feng spoke out at the rally

Many UTA students learned about the atrocities and signed the practitioners' petition

During the rally, IEEE fellow and renowned UTA Electrical Engineering professor, Dr. Feng gave a speech in which he strongly protested the CCP's atrocities and called on the international community to launch an investigation immediately, stop the killing and urgently rescue practitioners persecuted in China.

Western practitioner Barbara called on President Bush to request the Chinese Communist leaders to end the atrocities at Sujiatun, which bear a similarity to the Nazi Holocaust. She also called on every person to respond to the CCP's challenge of basic human conscience. She said, "If we don't step forward now, when? If we don't step forward, who will?"

At the rally, practitioner Mr. Qin recounted his cultivation journey with Falun Gong, to testify to the beauty of the cultivation practice.

There was a continuous flow of students and faculty members during lunchtime, and many of them stopped to learn more when they saw the posters and banners about the persecution. More than 1,000 fliers about the Sujiatun Concentration Camp were distributed. Upon learning of the atrocities in the concentration camp, students and faculty members were shocked and outraged. Many signed the practitioners' petition calling on the U.S. government and President Bush to take action to stop the persecution.

An Asian student cried after she learned about the inhumane persecution. She signed the petition and called her classmates and family members and told them about the atrocities in China. Many students and faculty members also expressed their deep confusion: "Why will the Chinese Communist Party persecute good people? Why can such atrocities happen during this 21st century?"

Barbara pointed out that the persecution reflected the evil nature of the CCP and its evilness is beyond all kindhearted people's imagination.

Germany: Teachers and Students Try Out Falun Gong Together after Learning the Truth about the CCP Propaganda

"Stretch" (Chen) -- teachers and students followed Ms. Teng's instruction and tried out the first Falun Gong exercise called "Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands." The atmosphere was very lively yet relaxed.

Students learn the Falun Gong exercises at the seminar

However just a year ago, deceived by the lies of the Chinese Communist regime, the principal of the school did not accept Falun Gong and turned down practitioners' offer to give a seminar on human rights in China. But lies never last long. With the sustained efforts of human rights activist Mr. Roemer and Falun Gong practitioners' truth clarification, the Werner-von-Siemenz School formally invited Falun Gong practitioners to give a seminar on China's human rights this past February. The school also cordially helped to organize this seminar.

Mr. Roemer from the International Human Rights Association first gave an opening speech. He summarized the serious human rights situation in China. He also told everyone his experience of traveling around major cities in China last autumn while wearing clothing with the words, "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are truly beautiful" printed on them. Mr. Roemer told students that he would have done nothing had he been afraid. Therefore, it is very important for a person to have a sense of justice and a heart of giving without any condition.

Ms. Teng: Can you imagine that people are being persecuted in China for doing this?

A film entitled, "The Truth of the Self-Immolation" followed Mr. Roemer's speech. This brought students' attention to the persecution of Falun Gong. They were very curious about what Falun Gong is and why Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist regime wanted to defame and persecute the practice. In addition, teachers and students were all very keen on learning the Falun Gong exercises. After learning the first exercise, quite a few students wanted to continue and learn the rest of the exercises.

After the exercise instruction, Ms. Teng told the students about the methods used by the Chinese Communist regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and gave more background information about the persecution. The students attentively listened to her talk. They were all very shocked by the degree of brutality of the persecution.

After the seminar, almost all the students in the class signed the petition calling for an end to the ongoing human rights abuses in China. As a momento of the seminar, everyone happily accepted a paper lotus flower with a Falun Gong bookmark.
