  • A Practitioner Started Practicing Falun Gong in Detention Center: Extraordinary Experience and Best Decision in Life

Ms. Zhou Yuzhen is 53-years-old, and lives in Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. In 2001, she got into an altercation with someone in the stock exchange market. The other person scratched her face while she bit the person's hand. Ms. Zhou was detained in Jinzhou City Detention Center for refusing to pay her fines. However, the experience started a new page in her life.

At that time, she had many health problems, including tendonitis, tenosynovitis and arthritis. She was on herbal medicine for months using all kinds of herbal medicinal patches. She was depressed and could find no purpose in life.

Encountered Falun Gong While in Detention

At the detention center, Ms. Zhou got to know five Falun Gong practitioners. She could feel their peace of mind from their behavior. They had no complaints or hatred, maintaining compassion and kindheartedness in the face of the abuse and violence directed at them. Ms. Zhou's outlook changed significantly after hearing the truth of Falun Gong. Three days later, she told the practitioners that the first thing she would do after she got out was to look for a copy of the book Zhuan Falun. While in the detention center, she started to learn the exercises. She learned a lot that from the practitioners. Thirteen days later, assisted by her sister and brother-in-law, Ms. Zhou paid the fines to the person she hurt.

Ms. Zhou did not waste any time looking for a practitioner in her area to find a copy of Zhuan Falun. On October 18, she found a practitioner and got her copy of Zhuan Falun. It was the most unforgettable day in her life.

From then on, Ms. Zhou conducted herself according to the principles outlined in Zhuan Falun. When things did not go smoothly, she did not blame anyone. Although it was very difficult to change her longstanding notions, eliminate her negative mentality and change her behavior, she read Falun Gong book steadfastly, which guided her behavior. She strived to be a good person.

Her health improved greatly after she started the exercises. Since she picked up Zhuan Falun, she has not had to take any medication. She previously had sore muscles all over her body, especially around her legs. She would have been exhausted even from doing little things. Now she has ample energy.

Ms. Zhou became a practitioner during the period when Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted the most viciously. Witnessing the contrast between truth and lies, compassion and villainy, she became steadfast in her practice of Falun Gong.

Arrested for Distributing Falun Gong Materials

On June 7, 2003, someone tipped off the local police when Ms. Zhou was distributing truth clarifying materials. She was arrested and taken to the police department in the city, where she was interrogated for many hours. They asked her where she got the materials. She refused to answer. On the second day, she was sent to the city's No. 2 Detention Center.

Ms. Zhou went on a hunger strike for 19 days to protest her detention. The guards sent her many times to the local hospital to force-feed her or to give her intravenous injections. After she became very weak and could not longer be force-fed, they were going to send her to a forced labor camp. However Masanjia Forced Labor Camp refused to admit her due to her physical situation. On June 25, after more than 20 days of abuses, she was sent home, where her mother was suffering from a stroke, a debilitating disease of the nervous system and waiting for her to come back to care for her.

Arrested for No Reason and Sent to Forced Labor Camp

On May 31, 2004, at around 7:30 a.m., Ms. Zhou was arrested and taken to Jingye Neighborhood Office by three police officers. She was then sent to a brainwashing center inside the Geology Exploration Department (organized by the local 610 Office led by Li Xiejiang in 2004).

The staff strip searched Ms. Zhou and confiscated items in her pockets and purse, including the key to her home. They took the key and opened the door of her home and confiscated a DVD player, cassette player, a VCD of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books and the teacher's picture along with other truth materials.

At the brainwashing center, Ms. Zhou continued to do the exercises and went on a hunger strike to protest the detention. The 610 Office was afraid that she might end up influencing the other practitioners so they sent her to the No. 2 Detention Center. On June 3, with no due legal process, she was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

At the Women's No. 2 Camp in Masanjia, Ms. Zhou was strip searched and later locked in a very dark and narrow storage room shaped in a triangle, where there were no windows and no bedding, except for a mattress made of hay. Every day, a group of two or four people would speak in front of her non-stop to brainwash her, to confuse her normal thinking. At the same time, they tried to make her sit on a small bench. Ms. Zhou resisted these abuses and refused to sit on the small bench torture device.

During the Five and a Half Months Hunger Strike, Ms. Zhou Endured Unbearable Abuse and Torture

Force-feeding had left her stomach, esophagus, nose and vocal chords injured. One month later, she was moved downstairs to be put in a hidden place for further abuse. They stretched her limbs and shackled them to the bed. At the same time, they took off her pants and inserted a tube into her urinary track. She was not allowed to get up at all. Then they inserted a tube into her nostrils and kept the tube there at all times. She was force-fed three times a day with a kilo of liquid at a time. As a result, she vomited constantly. The inserted tube felt like a knife in her stomach. At night her vomiting worsened. She vomited black and green material mixed with blood. The abuses went on for over a week.

Despite the treatment she endured, she never forgot her responsibility to tell people that Falun Dafa is good.

She also had to put up with the filth on her body brought about by constant vomiting, the sweat and the blood that soaked her, due to the brutal, longstanding, frequent force-feeding (She was later force-fed four times per day).

Over the five months when she was force-fed, the guards increased the doses every time. In the end, her head and face were swollen beyond recognition. She could no longer sleep. She lost her consciousness, but even then the guards did not release her. They said to her, "You cannot go out like this. It is indecent."

Later, Ms. Zhou started to have some food. She still continued to shout "Falun Dafa is good," "Stop the persecution," and "Stop illegal detention!" The guard was afraid that her shouting might be heard, so they moved her away from the others. Ms. Zhou started to do the exercises. To "transform" her, the guards kept changing the people who were supposed to monitor her and transform her. But they never succeeded in "transforming" her.

In February, 2005, Ms. Zhou was sent to a ward for regular inmates including drug addicts, prostitutes and thieves, in Masanjia, where vile acts on the parts of the inmates as well as the guards were rampant. Ms. Zhou shouted to all people there "Falun Dafa is good" to tell them the truth. At first, every time she shouted, she was beaten by those on duty around her. On one occasion, as soon as she opened her mouth, they pushed her to the ground, her head hit the floor, and she lost consciousness. Once she shouted "Falun Dafa is good" twice and a guard hit her on the head and dragged her inside. Ms. Zhou continued to shout. The guards pushed her to the bed and beat her head until the bed sheet was covered with blood. While Ms. Zhou was still resisting, they dragged her to the floor and stomped on her stomach. They were going to drag her to the washroom so they could hit her where no one could see. Ms. Zhou stopped them by telling them that she was telling them Falun Dafa is good from the bottom of her heart, not for them to abuse her.

In order to get back her energy, she started doing the exercises. The guards sent two inmates to watch her so she could not sit in the lotus position. It was impossible to do the standing exercises. They even wanted Ms. Zhou to do labor for them. She refused, and as a result, was shackled to the radiator. When Ms. Zhou sat down to meditate, the head of the group, Wang Yanping, kicked her and ordered some inmates to watch her so she could not sit in the lotus position. She was shackled for two days before she was let go.

Guard Wang Yanping is one of the most vicious ones. Once she shocked an inmate on her face with an electric baton, causing the person disabilities. She spared no means when she tried to hurt people. She poured cold water on the floor and made people stand in the water. Then she used the electric baton to shock the water. The person would not be able to stand due to the impact of the shock.

On May 7, Ms. Zhou started to eat less or not at all. She even refused water to protest the detention. As she was losing weight, the guards gave her intravenous injections to keep her there. After four months, Ms. Zhou was very thin. Every time she had a checkup, her blood pressure was at a dangerous level. She also had an irregular heartbeat and a severe headache. Ms. Zhou did the exercises, and the inmates watching her would try to stop her. Ms. Zhou said to them, "I am not bothering anyone by doing exercises here. It's up to me how I move my legs and arms. What you and the guards did to me is illegal and a crime. You guys are bullies."

At that time, there were seven other practitioners jailed on the second floor with Ms. Zhou. They all resisted the slave labor. The guards directed the inmates to separate them so the practitioners could not talk to each other. However, the practitioners demonstrated compassion, sincerity and tolerance towards these inmates. In the end, the inmates realized that the practitioners are kind-hearted people and all that was imposed on them was illegal. So they watched out for the practitioners while they did the exercises so the guards would not find out. After Ms. Zhou started the exercises, she started to eat normally and her health improved immediately.

On November 20, 2005, Ms. Zhou decided to eat less or none, or drink less water or none to protest her detention. She was all skins and bones. On January 24, 2006, she had a bump on her left neck. The left side of her face also swelled up and her left eye would not open. Fluid was coming out of her ears. The camp suspected that she had mumps and was afraid that it might be contagious. On January 26, they ordered her family to pick her up. On January 27, 2006, Ms. Zhou's brother picked her up. She finally walked out of the hellish place.

To avoid further persecution, Ms. Zhou had to leave home. And all this is because she wanted to be a good person following the principles of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance.

Exposing the Brainwashing Center in Shenzhen

The brainwashing center in Shenzhen, also known as the so-called Shenzhen Corrective School, is a subsidiary of the Shenzhen 610 Office. It is on the south campus of the Shenzhen Education Institute. The brainwashing center is a three-story building facing West Li Long Zhu Avenue. The ornate façade of this building is studded with white ceramic tiles. Its interior serves as an evil institution established to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Illegally detained practitioners are kept on the third floor, offices are on the second floor, and a clinic is on the first floor.

The staff are divided into three groups: Brainwashing program developers, ex-practitioners who renounced Falun Gong and now assist in brainwashing other practitioners (collaborators), and brainwashing assistants.

The brainwashing program development department is comprised of personnel from the police department, the military, and institutions for higher learning. Mr. Zhou and Mr.Chen Qiuhu, also referred to as the "principals," head the department. The intermediate administrative staff includes Ms. Wen Chuan, Mr. Jia Weibin, Ms. Cao Yang, Mr. Qu Shaode, Mr. Chen Tung (sounds like), and a psychologist, Mr. Zhou.

Other personnel include Yang Xiuhua, Yu Bin, Xiao Diao, Liu Yuhua, Yang Xiao Ting, and others.

There are eight to nine former practitioners who have been radically "reformed." They came from Shenzhen City and other provinces and include Huang Xiaoyan, Wang Hongfa, Zhang Haifeng, Liu Tianshu, Li Hailian, Ye Huirong, and others. Among them, Wang Hongfa and Zhang Haifeng from Huebei Province were particularly alluring and enticing. For assisting in the transformation of Falun Gong practitioners, they were paid 2000 yuan per month.

Clampdown control personnel are comprised of folks from the so-called Shenzhen Loving and Caring Association. They are retired personnel with higher educations and typically uphold and support the communist culture and indoctrination. They are paid a monthly salary of around 1000 yuan. The local seniors that have shown "compelling ability" include Xu Ying, Tian Gezheng, Yan Ai Ling, Shi Hui Xian, Wang Xiaohung, Ms. Wang, Ms. Ding, Ms. Ding, Ms. Si, Mr. Shi, and others. Among Mr. Ding's group, Xu Ying is a major contributor. The president of the Shenzhen Loving and Caring Association is Mr. Li Shengxian.

Each "transformation session" runs for three months. The cost for brainwashing each practitioner is 30,000 yuan.

When a practitioner is arrested, the reform procedure is as follows:

The three categories of staff hold a meeting. Staff members perform a comprehensive evaluation to analyze the individual's situation to formulate a transformation strategy. After a plan is developed, all three departments co-ordinate according to the plan to begin the persecution. A departmental administrator is selected to delegate all responsibility. He or she would normally be referred to as "the teacher."

The "transformation" process generally begins with a visit by a collaborator, who converses with the practitioner to explore the situation. The program development interview as well as the "teacher's" meeting all appear to be very considerate and caring. They try helping to resolve situations affecting daily necessities such as clothing and other personal needs. They also motivate family members to visit, and at the same time to persuade practitioners to give in.

From a psychological perspective, before the transformation, the procedure is to hint that the practitioner has abnormal problems. After transformation, any changes in the subject's behavior, whether big or small, are praised.

If the practitioner is very firm, the collaborators start their plan of attack. They take the Falun Gong texts and quote out of context, carelessly twisting and misinterpreting the teachings in order to confuse and lead the practitioners onto an evil path. If the practitioners remained unmoved, they start a "weary war." During the day they besiege the practitioners, instilling them with their evil principles non-stop, around the clock. This continue until late at night, and sometimes deprive the victims from any sleep until the next morning. They use physical torture such as extensive and prolonged standing and freezing the victims in the cold until physically worn out. The victims are then compelled to sign the three statements.

There are time when practitioners are compelled to maintain military posture and forced to stand for more than 30 hours. Simultaneously, they are forced to listen to evil lectures with no opportunity to rest. The end result is sometimes that practitioners cannot stand the torment and eventually give in. There are cases of practitioners resorting to a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The authorities bring in practitioners' family members, using them to persuade, scold, soothe, and beg the practitioners to give in. The family members are encouraged to stay to continue their persuasion until the fasting stops. Once fasting stops, the plan of attack described above resumes. One male practitioner could not stand the torture and struck his head against the wall. He ended up with seven stitches on his forehead. After the stitches, the attack continued until he finally gave in.

The whole process is supervised by psychological specialists who monitor progress and assess the degrees of "transformation." They give instructions on the degree and timing of various torture techniques to achieve the "best results."

The practitioners that sign the three statements are transferred to the brainwashing program development section to continue their "transformation" classes. They are forced to watch various types of reform videos and compelled to write material acknowledging their transformation. The process continues until the level of breakthrough is judged satisfactory. At this stage, they are told to write self-criticisms as part of the process to renounce the practice. The 610 Office sends officials to verify and approve the documents. In the end, they have the street committee, the residential committee, the victims' family members, and the 610 officials hold a ceremonial graduation celebration to commemorate the success of the transformation. Recognition banners and fresh flowers are given out, and the street committee and the residential committee are required to sign an agreement to continue to supervise and monitor the brainwashed practitioner.

"Beat Her until She Cannot Walk and Make Sure Nobody Will Be Able to Recognize Her!" - Zhengzhou Women's Forced Labor Camp

The Zhengzhou City Henan Province Women's Forced Labor Camp building was completed in early 2003. It has a capacity of five groups, which amounts to thousands of people. A complete monitoring system is installed. The third group on the second floor holds a concentration of Falun Gong practitioners. Newly arrested practitioners are locked up there, too. Each of them stays in a small cell, where she is forced to sleep on the floor and is monitored by two drug abusers or "transformed" inmates that act as "helpers."

Practitioners in this drab environment cannot leave their cells, they are not allowed to look outside their cells, they cannot greet other practitioners on the way to the bathroom, they cannot look at each other, they cannot walk in the middle of the hallway, and they need to get permission before they can use the bathroom. When the bathroom is vacant, their "helpers" will follow them to the bathroom.

Practitioners are locked on the north side of the building. For months they cannot see any sunshine. When inspectors tour this labor camp, the officers lock the doors from the inside of each steadfast Falun Gong practitioner's room and tell the inspectors, "There is no one staying in this room." In the staircase, however, people can always hear the noise of the jail officers' curses and beatings. As long as the practitioners are not "transformed," they will continue to be subjected to mental torture and physical abuse. Requiring them to stand in one position and depriving them of sleep are common methods used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Most of the practitioners are forced to stay here for months or even more than half a year.

What the authorities do to persecute practitioners is extremely evil, so much so that they are scared of their evil deeds being known by the public. For instance, they poke women's vaginas with screwdrivers, stuff their mouths with used sanitary napkins, hit their heads with a bench, slap their faces and heads with heavy plastic shoes, lash their hands with bamboo sticks, hit them with a closed fist, and kick them. These are all common occurrences. They always beat a practitioner until there are multiple wounds all over her body. Usually, at the beginning, they do not allow practitioners to go to sleep for the whole night. After a long time, they allow them to sleep after 4 a.m. but only for two to three hours. After being tormented for an entire day, when the practitioner finally can lay down on the floor, every inch of her body is sore and painful. Usually, right when they are about to fall asleep, the wake-up bugle sounds. This is their living situation, suffering wretched torture everyday. If the authorities detest a particular practitioner, they send her to be tortured, which includes the use of electric batons, being hung upside down, and "tying the ropes"(1). Some practitioners' entire outward appearance has been changed by persecution; they become frightfully skinny

Ms. He Junying was forced to stand in one position and forbidden sleep for a long time. Being beaten and cursed for no reason, both her mind and the body were seriously damaged. Her whole body became swollen. This was later diagnosed as cirrhosis of the liver.

Ms. Zhu Ailian is on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. She is very weak now, but the authorities still won't let her go. For a long time, she was not allowed to go to sleep. She was tied up and placed in a small chair. She can no longer walk or even stand up. When she goes to the bathroom, she needs other people to drag the small bench she is tied to to the bathroom. Although she is in such bad health, the guards still curse and hit her everyday, and they won't release her.

Because Ms. Ding Xiangying wouldn't give up her belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, they brutally beat her everyday. They used small benches to hit her head, they slapped her face with their hands and plastic shoes, they beat her with closed fists, and they kicked her until blood came out of her mouth, and her teeth were loosened. There are wounds all over her body. She went a long time without sleep and was forced to stand in one position and sit on a small bench with her arms tied behind her back for a long time. On top of all this, everyday, guards sat on her and cursed at her. After several months of this cruel persecution, Ms. Ding Xiangying's body and mind were persecuted to the limit. She was diagnosed with cerebral thrombosis and her blood pressure was 220 over 130.

Ms. Chen Lijun, was a tall, neat, and beautiful woman. She had been illegally arrested three times for not giving up her belief in Falun Gong. The third time she was sent to the forced labor camp, she was persecuted with a cruel method called the "binding cloth." When others saw her they said she was almost unrecognizable. She could not even eat anything anymore. However, the authorities still force her to work and continued to beat her. Several people circled her and beat the lower part of her body until she developed internal injuries. One day the person in charge ordered, "Hit her lower part. Beat her until she cannot go to the bathroom anymore, beat her until she cannot walk anymore, and make sure nobody will be able to recognize her anymore." They tortured her almost to death. After she was sent to the hospital, she was diagnosed with the last stages of lung cancer. She was then sent home and died soon after.

Several drug abusers poked inside a young female practitioner's vagina with a screwdriver. The pain made her scream. They even dared to take a used sanitary napkin and stuff it in her mouth. None of the guards on duty that day nor the witnesses in the crowd stood up to stop this evil persecution. Zhengzhou Women's Forced Labor Camp is a place of inhuman torture and abuse and is run by morally degenerate individuals.

The above cases are just the tip of the iceberg.

    Note:

    (1) For "tying the ropes," the police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around her neck, and then tie her hands behind her back. Then the police use all the force they can muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around her body, making it more and more difficult for her to breathe. The pain is so intense that she sometimes loses control of her bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.

Practitioner Wang Jianhui from Tangshan Radio Station Illegally Detained

Mr. Wang Jianhui was a morning news anchor for the economic life channel of Tangshan People's Radio Station (formerly known as Tangshan Economic Radio Station). On March 14, 2006, the security guard from Hebei Ligong College arrested him while he was passing out truth clarification material. He was sent to the North District Police Department of Tangshan City the next day. They plan to hold him for one month. (Relatives have already signed the paperwork).

Mr. Wang Jianhui went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong soon after the persecution began almost seven years ago. He was arrested and sent to No. 1 Detention Center in Tangshan City and held for one year. He was later sentenced to one year in Hehuakeng Labor Camp and was tortured with the "tightening rope" method (1). After Mr. Wang Jianhui was released from the labor camp, his work place held him illegally at Fashetai for one year. He was sent to a brainwashing class at Spinning and Weaving College in Tangshan City and a brainwashing center in Hebei Province. Later, he was able to return to work at Tangshan People's Radio Station.

    Note:

    (1) The torture method known as "Tightening Rope" utilizes a finger-size hemp rope soaked in water. The persecutors position it on the Falun Gong practitioner's neck and tightly wrap it around his arms. In order to maximize the pain for the victim, they often strip the practitioner down to his underwear. Usually, more than three persecutors work together to apply this torture. When the rope reaches the wrists, it is tightened. They pull the practitioner's hands behind his back, and both ends of the rope are inserted through the portion of the rope on the neck. Then two persecutors forcefully pull down both ends of the rope as hard as they can and tie it. At this time, the blood circulation is cut off and the victim will experience increased heart rate, excruciating pain in both arms and within a few minutes, heavy sweating.

Senior Citizen Exposes the Persecution in Langfang City

Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally arrested in Langfang City, Hebei Province were separately detained in the brainwashing classes in Jiaotong Hotel and Huakang Hotel, and some were secretly transferred to Yangshuiwu SARS Hospital in Langfang City. Seventy-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Zhimin was illegally arrested by the 610 Office in Langfang City on February 19, and persecuted in the brainwashing class at Huakang Hotel. On the evening of February 22, Mr. Shi maganed to get out while he was closely monitored by many policemen. Below is his account of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

"After I heard that fellow practitioner Mr. Wang Shaoqiu was arrested without reason and that he had aged parents and a young child all dependent on his income from his business for support, I went to Xianghe on February 5 to inquire about his situation. This was a perfectly legal act as provided by the law. But the police didn't allow me to speak or clarify the truth but threw me in their car. I tried hard to get out of the car and also tried to reason with them. They threw me back in the car. My head hit something and I passed out. I was carried to Guangyang Police Sub-bureau and handcuffed onto a metal chair that is used to immobilize criminals. I was not allowed to eat, sleep or speak. Whenever I spoke, the police would curse, beat me and spit on my face. Supervisor Gao of the Security Team slapped my face for over a dozen times, which caused me to bleed. Several of my teeth got knocked loose from his beating and I still have difficulty eating even now. The police splashed boiling water on my face and the upper part of my body was so scalded that the pain was unbearable and many blisters developed. The police also wrapped my head with thick clothing to suffocate me. They put me near the drafty staircase entrance to freeze me. They also threatened, 'Though you were not tortured to death in Mengzhou of Henan Province, we can easily do it here.'

"When the police saw that I didn't say anything, they put me in the Langfang Detention Center on February 6. I continued with my hunger strike to protest and also called out, "Falun Dafa is good!" On February 12, I lost consciousness and was sent to hospital for infusion therapy, but I still didn't wake up, so I was sent back home on the evening of February 13.

"I was detained together with another Falun Gong practitioner from Langfang, Mr. Yang Jianpo, on February 5 and 6. Mr. Yang clarified the truth to the police very effectively and always with compassion. The police often had nothing to say in response. On February 6, Mr. Yang's wife came to visit him, and in the end Mrs. Yang was beaten so fiercely by police that she lay on the ground unconscious for a long time. Shortly after, Mr. Yang was also transferred to Langfang Detention Center, and later sent somewhere else that I don't know about.

"I was taken home after I was beaten and tortured and on hunger strike at Guangyang Police Sub-bureau and the Detention Center of Langfang City, where I lost consciousness for 9 days. For 5 days, I could not take care of myself. Sometime after 8:00 p.m. on February 19, while I was resting at home, 3-4 policemen broke in all of a sudden, and ordered me to go to the police station to attend a meeting, hear an announcement from a government document and sign some documents for verification. I could not go due to my condition, but the police insisted on carrying me to the car and said, 'We know you are not well, that's why we picked you up in a car!' I kept clarifying the truth to them and refused to go with them. Our stalemate dragged on for a whole day. The situation greatly troubled my wife and she could not eat or rest. Around 9:00 p.m. in the evening, they carried me into the car (at that time I only had on a pair of shorts). It was cold and the weather was terrible. I kept calling out on the way, 'The police break the law while supposedly enforcing the law, and they don't allow me to dress and forcibly arrest me.' I also called out, 'Falun Dafa is good.'

"I was taken to Huakang Hotel in Langfang. I went on hunger strike to protest. Director Zhao from Guangyang Police Sub-bureau in Langfang tried many times to "transform" and tried to persuade me to cooperate with them to eat. He said, 'You can go home only when we allow you to go. It is useless to go on hunger strike and protest; even if you starve to death, we won't let you go home.' Later on, he no longer required me to "transform" and said, 'The Central government had two meetings; if you behave well for one month, you can go home, which is the order.' I still kept clarifying the truth to him with kind intentions, called out, 'Falun Dafa is good,' and asked to go home.

"On February 23, I went through much difficulty and hardship and started to walk holding onto the wall. I had on little clothing and no shoes. When I fell down in the dark, I crawled, but I didn't feel cold or pain. In the end, I got out.

"When I was detained in the hotel, I was often unconscious and couldn't speak, therefore the police talked freely in front of me. They said that over 40 Falun Falun Gong practitioners were arrested this time in Langfang City, and some practitioners were sent to forced labor camps, to detention centers and to brainwashing classes, including practitioners from other cities. The practitioners sent to Huakang Hotel were those in their old age and in poor physical condition. There were 3 males and 6 females - 9 practitioners altogether. They reserved two floors in the hotel with over 30 policemen watching the practitioners every day (3 policemen monitored one practitioner). Those practitioners that I know include: Cao Baoyu and Zhang Fengde. When I left, the other 8 practitioners were still on hunger strike to protest against the illegal persecution and they were in very weak physical condition - some of them in quite precarious condition.

"I hope that kind-hearted people and all relevant international organizations with a sense of justice can help rescue these good people who believe in 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance,' and help stop this inhuman and brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners."
