  • Family Doubts Ashes Released by Police Are Those of Missing Practitioner Wu Minghzhong

On February 11, 2002, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Mingzhong was arrested by policemen from the Jinniu District Station of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. On February 18, police from Jinniu District Station notified Mr. Wu's family that he had committed suicide, but his family did not see his body, only what were supposed to be his ashes.

Mr. Wu Mingzhong was in his 40s, and had graduated from Chengdu City Electronic Science University. He was originally from Sanhe Town, Yilong County, Sichuan Province. Before 2000, he was an employee of the High Voltage Switch Section of the former Hongguang Seventh Factory located in Dianzi Street, Xindu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. On January 5, 2000, he was reported when sharing his experiences in a fellow practitioner's house, and was arrested by policemen from Chengxi Station of Xindu District. He was sentenced to eighteen months forced labor.

During his forced labor term in the Dayan Farm of Ziyang Prison, Mr. Wu Mingzhong was tortured by guards. He continued to be harassed by local policemen of the Chengxi Station after being released in June 2001. On February 11, 2002, his landlord reported the Falun Gong materials production site in his home in the Jiuliti School teacher's family housing, and he was arrested by policemen from the Jinniu District Station.

On February 18, 2002, police notified Mr. Wu Mingzhong's family that he had committed suicide. [Note: When practitioners in China are tortured to death, the authorities commonly list the cause of death as "suicide"] Mr. Wu's father went to the Jinniu District Police Station, but he did not see his body or his last photo, only a box of ashes that the police said were Mr. Wu Mingzhong's. His father said he does not believe it since he did not see the body. A box of ashes cannot prove his identity.

Exactly where Mr. Wu Mingzhong is remains a mystery.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Pei Shuhua Carried Into Court Despite Life-Threatening Condition

On March 28, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Pei Shuhua was carried into Shuangyang Court in Changchun City, Jilin Province. Because of being tortured, Ms. Pei had been on hunger strike for nearly 5 months, and was in a life-threatening condition. Right now, the police, procuratorate and court are planning to send her to prison for further persecution.

On November 4, 2005, Ms. Pei clarified the truth to elementary students. Someone reported this to the police, and she was arrested. On the same day of her illegal arrest, she went on hunger strike. When Ms. Pei was in a life-threatening condition, the police not only did not release her, but sent her to provincial police hospital for further persecution. At the same time, the police rushed to collect the so-called "evidence," plotting to send her to prison. During that period of time, Ms. Pei has been on hunger strike all the time. Her family had heard about her life-threatening condition, but the police did not allow them to visit. The police even deceived them, saying Ms. Pei had begun to eat and was healthy. At the court on March 28th, the truth was revealed. As the police van came, it was followed by an ambulance. Two policemen carried Ms. Pei into the court in a bed sheet. Her whole body, including both hands, were wrapped in cloth. Her face was covered, but some hair was exposed, which had turned gray. A medical staff was carrying an oxygen bag by her side. Because Ms. Pei was unable to stand, she had to lean on her side to sit.

The court did not notify her family in advance, nor did they allow Ms. Pei to hire a lawyer. The procuratorial official went even further to make up evidence in order to charge her. In this illegitimate show trial, Ms. Pei was totally unable to answer any of their questions. In the end, the court announced a postponement of the court date, since Ms. Pei was not conscious enough to respond.

Coming out of the court, it was possible to Ms. Pei's face, which was drawn, pale, with both eyes closed. When others called her name, there was no response. People at the site felt so bad and they were in tears.

Later, Ms. Pei' family went to the court requesting a conditional release based on her poor health condition. The court official said that other people could be granted conditional release, but Falun Gong practitioners could not. They could not even have a visit. Ms. Pei's family then asked, "What if she dies, who will be responsible?" The court official said that even if Ms. Pei died, they had nothing to do with it.

Details of the Persecution that Caused the Death of Li Boping, from Ezhou City, Hubei Province

Falun Gong practitioner Li Boping, from Ezhou City, Hubei province, continued to practice Falun Gong after the persecution started on July 20, 1999. At that time, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) officers illegally arrested him. They threatened him, monitored him, sent him to brainwashing classes, and to mental hospitals, etc. Due to relentless persecution, he went from being a person who was completely healthy and full of energy to suffering a mental collapse. He died in March 2002 after falling off of a building.

Mr. Li Boping, was born in 1954. He was the former office manager in a country credit union in Ezhou City, Hubei Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, each year Li Boping spent over ten thousand yuan of public medical expenses (that was before the reform of the medical system). Sometimes he even spent over ten thousand yuan. He had to hold onto the handrail to climb up the stairs. In the end, his illness became worse, and the doctor said he could only live for three months.

Right when he was at the edge of dying, in 1996, Li Boping was lucky to find Falun Gong and began to practice. Since then, he upgraded his xinxing by following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance", his physical condition rapidly recovered and he became a healthy person. He was energetic and the illness that had tortured him for several years quickly disappeared. Most of his work unit leaders and colleagues witnessed this miracle.

The deepest impression he gave his co-workers and leaders was that after Li Boping practiced Falun Gong, not only was his incurable disease fully recovered, but he also became more friendly and kind. He loved his job, worked diligently, and became a well-known and respected person in his work unit.

Besides this, Li Boping was in charge of the practice site's coordinator's job. Each morning, he went to the practice site early and left late helping Falun Gong practitioners carry the tape recorder. He often volunteered to help other practitioners. In many of the Ezhou City practitioner's eyes, he was a humble and good coordinator.

On July 20, 1999, like tens of thousands of volunteer coordinators around the country, Li Boping was threatened, intimated, and later arrested by the CCP's 610 Office and the national security police. Later on, he was sent to brainwashing classes almost every day. He was intimidated, tortured, and his personal freedom was restricted. He was illegally monitored and even his home and office telephones were monitored. They tried to force him to give up his practice of Falun Gong.

In September 2001, the "610 Office" in Ezhou City took Li Boping to the first session of a brainwashing class held in Heluoyuan, Donggou Town, Ezhou City to persecute him. The leaders from his work unit resisted the pressure from above and protected him from being sent to the brainwashing class. Later on, his work unit leader said that Li Boping was a very rare, good person, and could not bear to see him being persecuted.

In the first half of 2001, a large number of Falun Gong practitioners in Ezhou City were arrested and sent to the Lianhuashan Brainwashing Class in Ezhou City. Li Boping was arrested and taken to Ezhou City Mental Hospital located in Linjang Township and was persecuted there for three months. After Li Boping was released from the mental hospital, he began to suffer symptoms of mental illness. We suspected that while Li Boping was in the mental hospital, he must have been given some injections that damaged his central nervous system.

In the second half of 2001, Li Boping's old illness relapsed and he was sent to the hospital for several months. His work unit said they spent over ten thousand yuan. His family members said that his family also spent 1,800 yuan. After being released from the hospital, Li Boping continued to have symptoms of mental illness. In March 2002, he died from falling off a building.

After the incident, Ezhou Daily reported that Li Boping "jumped off a building" and intentionally deceived the local people by implying that Li Boping's practice of Falun Gong led him to jump off a building. The actual culprits responsible for Li Boping's death were people from the "610 Office" and those who helped them.

In Memory of Falun Gong Practitioner Yang Xiaojie from Hebei Province

Hearing the sad news of Mr. Yang Xiaojie's death I was deeply grieved. It felt like a knife twisting my heart, and I cried without stopping for a long time.

Mr. Yang Xiaojie and I used to be detained in the same prison. We experienced the persecution together and we were like brothers. I did not have a chance to see him before his death. The Chinese New Year's eve should be the day for family gatherings. It has been the traditional Chinese holiday for more than 4,000 years. That day, however, was the day of Yang Xiaojie's cremation. Mr. Yang Xiaojie persisted in his belief and was abused and tortured to death for upholding the truth.

Mr. Yang Xiaojie, who had just turned 40, was a strong and kindhearted person. He was a good husband. He also took care of and supported his elderly parents and provided for his wife (also a practitioner) and their child. His wife was illegally sentenced and now is held at the Hebei Province No. 2 Prison. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) destroyed and tore apart a happy and harmonious family because the couple exposed the CCP's lies to the public. During this inhuman persecution, Mr. Yang Xiaojie embodied the great forbearance of a Falun Gong practitioner.

The practitioners could seldom talk with each other, even if they were detained on the same floor or in the same building. A series of people constantly monitor practitioners' activities. They ranged from top to the bottom: the group political instructor who was mainly in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners; the 610 Office agents; the prison guards; the guards on duty and the criminal inmates. They wanted to have their jail time reduced by reporting practitioners' activities and were never kind to practitioners. The conditions for the practitioners were extremely difficult.

Later, Yang Xiaojie and people in his group were moved to a new building. We rarely saw each other. Around October 2005, I heard he was very sick. I managed to have an opportunity to visit him when he was in a room under 24-hour surveillance. I was told that only two rooms in each floor had this kind of monitoring equipment. When I saw him he was not able to sit up. Due to long-term back pain, his spine was twisted and distorted. His body was bent into a 90-degree angle. If no one had pointed him out to me, I would not have been able to recognize him. He was very skinny and looked skeleton-like. His face was misshapen too. This once strong, healthy person who normally weighed 150 to 160 pounds had become a 55-pound skeleton. He still smiled at me as usual and said, "Hi. How did you get here? These tortures are nothing! We can't give up our righteous thoughts! " It was hard to imagine that those were his last words to me.

Before his death, Yang Xiaojie refused to be reformed. Guards from Education Division thus beat him severely, knocking out his front teeth. He refused to watch a TV show that fabricated rumors to defame Falun Gong. For that he was locked in a dark cell for a long time. He had been on a hunger strike. Prison guard Wang Gubin inserted a tube through his nose into his stomach for force-feeding. He cruelly inserted and removed this tube several times to torture him. Finally, this evil guard replaced this tube with a larger one and poured a cup of concentrated salt solution into his stomach. The sharp, intense pain made him sit bolt upright. Three or four guards had lost their grip on him, and then he began spitting blood.

Just several days before he died, his mother was notified that he was in critical condition and went for a visit. However, she was turned away twice and forbidden to see her son. By then, Xiaojie remained unconscious and was kept alive on oxygen. Several days later, on December 28, 2005, family members went there and took him out of the prison for outside medical treatment.

The Chinese ruling regime attempts to control people using fabrications, rumors, deceit and violence. They fear that people will learn the truth. They have spent all their resources and efforts persecuting their own people. They have really lost their senses.

There is a common saying "paper cannot cover up fire." After six to seven years of persecution, more and more people have come to understand. History will be fair. Years later, when people look back, the Chinese Communist Party will certainly bear a shameful mark of disgrace that will last forever in history.

On behalf of myself and the Falun Gong practitioners at the Shijiazhuang Northern suburbs prison, all of us send our deep condolences to Yang Xiaojie and express our sympathy to his family!

Changchun Women's Forced Labor Camp Refuses to Release Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yuan Shufang After Her Term Expires

Ms. Yuan Shufang is from Lushuihe Town, Fusong County, Jilin Province. On October 14, 2004, the local police station, in conjunction with police from the police of the security subsidiary company, arrested Ms. Yuan. In March 2005, she was illegally sent to Changchun Women's Forced Labor Camp and placed in the fourth team. Because she would not give up  practice, she suffered many tortures, such as the electric needle, being put into a confinement cell, being stunned by electric batons, and being beaten mercilessly. The police tied her up to a board, with her hands and feet handcuffed or tied up. Then they used the method of the "electrical ant" to torture her. The electrical ant has many needles which are inserted into the flesh and charged with electricity. They were stuck into Ms. Yuan's foot arches, legs, chest, arms, face, and the acupuncture point on the hand between the thumb and index finger, which caused her extreme pain. The police also incited the criminal inmates to torture her.

Because Ms. Yuan did not give in, the instructors and criminals frequently beat her to the ground. Then they stood on her neck, beat her face, and at the same time abused her. After the beating, they put her into solitary confinement again, handcuffed her hands, and tied her feet. The instructor, Feng Xiaochun (female), tied her and abused her at the same time. Ms. Yuan clarified the truth to her, but she did not listen and struck Ms. Yuan's cheek.

One time while Ms. Yuan was in the confinement cell, team leader Guan Wei entered the cell and Ms. Yuan asked her: As the team leader, are you responsible for my being persecuted and put into this place? Guan Wei said no. The implication was that she supported the persecution. Guan Wei and Feng Xiaochun used electrical batons to shock many Falun Gong practitioners.

Because Ms. Yuan has been tortured for such a long time, her features are out of shape. In April 2006, her forced labor term expired, but the labor camp did not release her. On April 8, 2006, Ms. Yuan's husband and son went to the forced labor camp to ask for her release. The instructor in the fourth team said that they would not release her and extended her term.

The Persecution in Weibei Prison, Shandong Province and Relevant Phone Numbers

Weibei Prison is located in a relatively remote area north of Weifang. It's very difficult for ordinary policemen and the general public to receive truth-clarifying materials. The majority of people do not know the truth about the death by persecution of Falun Gong practitioner Li Guang.

A couple of years ago, there were some practitioners there who were able to distribute truth-clarifying materials. Later on, due to the severe persecution, three of those practitioners were sent to the labor camp, and two became homeless in order to avoid persecution. The policemen from the local police station, led by Fan Yongsheng, have often harassed the rest of the practitioners in their homes. As such, it is relatively difficult to clarify the truth in the local area.

After Li Guang was persecuted to death, Weibei Prison had most of the practitioners there transferred. The practitioners were in handcuffs and had shackles on their feet during the transfer. The policemen used a luxury prison bus that could hold about 50 people instead of using the Weibei Prison bus. They lied and said that they were going to transfer the practitioners to Tai'an prison. However, when the bus arrived at the Jinnan expressway they switched bus drivers. Nobody knows where the bus went.

In addition to that, Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Zhuang Aiping is a family member of a worker in Weibei Prison. Her husband died many years ago. She lived with her two children with lots of difficulties. After July 20, 1999, she was ill-treated because she kept practicing Falun Gong and was forced to become homeless in order to avoid further persecution. On February 17 this year, Mrs. Zhuang was arrested when she was clarifying the truth in Weifang. She is currently detained in Kuiwen Detention Center in Weifang. The Kuiwen Court illegally tried her, and it is said that she will be sentenced to 4 years.
