  • New Zealand Accepts Two More Falun Gong Practitioners with United Nations Refugee Status

On May 11, 2006, two Falun Gong practitioners, Yang Ziwei and He Yanchen, arrived in New Zealand under the arrangement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The process won help from the UN and New Zealand government, and efforts of Falun Gong practitioners. On the morning of this day, their flight landed in Auckland International Airport from Thailand. The practitioners were welcomed by practitioners in New Zealand, who had waited there for a while. The two practitioners were very pleased to arrive in a country where they can freely practice Falun Gong after their many sufferings to avoid the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution.

Mr. Yang Ziwei, 30, comes from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Ms. He Yanchen, 29, comes from Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Both were unlawfully imprisoned and tortured many times for persisting in practicing Falun Gong in China. To avoid the CCP's persecution, they were forced to stay away from home. With help from kind-hearted people, they fled to Thailand. They applied for protection from the UNHCR there. In August 2004, the two married in Thailand.

Ms. He's father, He Sanpu, 56, was a middle-level official in Department of Medium, Henan Provincial Government. He worked for more than twenty years in the department and was a well-known, kind person. For persisting in his belief of Truth, Compassion, Forbearance, he was illegally arrested, tortured and imprisoned in labor camps four times. He has been imprisoned in a brainwashing session in Wanqing Mountain Village, a western suburb of Zhengzhou, for more than nine months. Ms. He's mother, Zhang Hanwen, was a medical professional in Zhengzhou University. She was persecuted many times for practicing Falun Gong. Germany: Calling for an End to the Killing

The Chinese regime has stepped up efforts to eliminate witnesses and destroy evidence of the slaughter of Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners in Germany launched a series of protests and a rescue campaign in various cities. They demand an immediate end to the persecution and an investigation into the atrocities of harvesting and selling living Falun Gong practitioners' organs in China's forced labor camps, prisons, concentration camps and hospitals.

On April 19, Falun Gong practitioners conducted a simulated performance of the Chinese Communist regime's atrocities of harvesting living humans' organs, so as to urgently bring the persecution to German people's attention. Reporters from Germany's RTL TV also came to cover the event and broadcast the news at 8.p.m. the same day. It is estimated that the programme was viewed by over half a million households.

A reporter from the German newspaper Bild Zeitung also took nearly one hour to cover the activities. The practitioners explained to the reporters that Falun Gong has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime since 1999, and told them about the crimes of harvesting living Falun Gong practitioners' organs for profit as well as the atrocity of cremating their bodies to destroy the evidence. A practitioner also mentioned her personal experience of being illegally incarcerated in a forced labor camp in Beijing for sixteen months simply because she distributed flyers about the facts of Falun Gong.

Many shoppers stopped to attentively view display boards, while some took the initiative to ask for more information. After hearing that China's human rights situation is getting worse and worse, they were shocked by the Chinese Communist regime's atrocities. China has been a hot topic among German people. Reports about China are broadcast on the TV almost every week, and the market is strewn with products made in China. Most German people do know that China's economic status has been improving, but they don't know China's human rights situation is getting worse and worse. Shocked by the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party, people signed the petition one after another and said they would like to do something to help put an end to the persecution.

Activities at the Cathedral in Cologne

On April 22, Falun Gong practitioners rallied at the square near the Cathedral in Cologne to further expose the atrocities happening in the concentration camps in China. As the Cathedral in Cologne is a famous tourist attraction in Germany and a must-see destination for tourists from mainland China, Falun Gong practitioners have persisted in explaining the facts about Falun Gong there for the last seven years. The facts about the Tiananmen Square immolation incident, the information about the "Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party" and the crimes of harvesting living Falun Gong practitioners' organs for profit have thus been spread to various places in mainland China.

This activity was highly supported by the Cologne police department, so the practitioners were able to explain the facts about Falun Gong to more people with loudspeakers. Practitioners took turns to talk about various facets of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong and the atrocities of harvesting living Falun Gong practitioners' organs in China's concentration camps and forced labor camps. In addition, they also read out a report on an interview with the witnesses who exposed that the Chinese Communist regime has stepped up efforts to proceed with organ transplants and destroy evidence by May 1.

A German practitioner, who was once arrested by Chinese police when she participated in a peaceful protest in Tiananmen Square, explained her personal experience to the general public. She was detained in a hotel near the airport after she was arrested in Tiananmen Square. In fact, the hotel was a police station in disguise, as it was full of police officers. Her cell phone was confiscated, and the police told her, "As long as you are in China, you cannot demand your rights." Eventually this practitioner returned to Germany. She told the German people in Cologne that tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted, and that their situation is highly critical and they need their help. Afterwards, another practitioner also talked about her personal experience of being illegally imprisoned for sixteen months simply because she distributed flyers about the facts of Falun Gong. Finally, he called on the German public to help put an end to the persecution against Falun Gong.

A representative of the International Society for Human Rights Germany (IGFM) condemns China's current human rights situation

A Chinese democracy activist, a female Chinese writer in Germany and a representative of the International Society for Human Rights Germany (IGFM) talked about issues concerning China's human rights persecution and China's current situation from different angles. After hearing the facts about China's human rights situation, many German people signed the petition to support the campaign against the persecution. After signing the petition, some asked how they could help. The practitioners told them that they might write a letter to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Cologne Mayor to call for their support.

Staff members of a hospital in Cologne lent operating gowns to practitioners to enable them to expose the Chinese Communist regime's atrocities by conducting a simulated performance of harvesting living human organs in China. A practitioner who participated said that they would continue to raise awareness of the persecution to all levels of German society so as to put an end to the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong as soon as possible.
