  • Seven More Torture-Related Deaths Recently Verified in February, 2007

In February 2007, sources in China verified the torture related deaths of seven more Falun Gong practitioners. Three deaths happened between October and December 2006, and one in January 2007. Five of the deceased were women over 50 years old.

Three of the deceased practitioners were from Hunan Province and the others were from Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Sichuan Provinces and Beijing. Since July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong, 3,018 deaths due to persecution have been verified by reliable sources in China. The sources were able to break through China's information blockade to deliver it to the Minghui website. This is only the tip of the iceberg of atrocities that have been committed during the last seven plus years.

The deaths alone, not to mention the thousands sent to labor and concentration camps, prisons, detention, brainwashing centers and other such places, demonstrate that the CCP has availed itself to the most depraved torture methods ever known in the history of the world. And what for? To force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief and stop clarifying the truth about the persecution.

Practitioners endured excruciating pain physically and mentally before they ever suffered a mental collapse or died in agony. Practitioners endured lies and inhuman torture methods including repeated brainwashing, yet none wiped Falun Gong from the face of the earth. Besides the torture, staff at the CCP prisons, forced labor camps, brainwashing centers under the control of the 610 Office and mental hospitals even injected practitioners with unknown drugs, and put unknown medicine into their food. These are examples of the Jiang Zemin regime's genocidal policy towards Falun Gong practitioners: "Defame their reputation, bankrupt them financially, eliminate them physically."

Chang Yongfu was Tortured to Death

After Chang Yongfu from Heilongjiang Province had passed away, those looking at his corpse saw dried blood at the corner of his mouth, inside and outside his nose and inside his mouth.

Mr. Chang Yongfu, 44 years old, was a practitioner from Mulan County in Heilongjiang Province. On July 26, 2004, he hung up Falun Gong truth-clarification banners and handed out truth-clarification materials. Two police officers, Jiang Yan and Er Jinzi, from Mulan County No.1 Police Station broke into his home, arrested him and took him to the Harbin Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. There Mr. Chang suffered cruel and inhuman beatings at the hands of guards and inmates many times.

On October 11, 2004, guards from Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, police officers from the Education and Administration section, and guards from other labor camp teams gathered at the No.4 Team area. Some were holding electric batons and some held belts. First, Wang Yiou, the Manager of the Education section, delivered a speech about "Disciplining No.4 Team and Reform Orders." Then, Warden Niu Tiejun told everyone to study the labor camp policies.

After the speeches, inmates dragged practitioners Yao Shiguo, Chang Yongfu, Na Zhenxian and He Qinghui and another 8 practitioners inside. It was clear that they had already arranged beatings for the practitioners, claiming that. these practitioners didn't read the policy loudly enough. The practitioners suffered bruises all over the face, lost mobility of arms and legs and some were beaten so cruelly that they no longer could stand up. He Qinghui suffered a skull fracture so severe that some brain matter spilled out. He went into a coma and still has not woken up. Na Zhenxian was brutally beaten and became handicapped. He passed away on September 16, 2005.

Staff from the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp claimed that Mr. Chang had mental problems and took him to the 610 Office in Mulan County. Then he was taken to the Harbin City Jiangbei Puning Mental Hospital, where Chang was injected with medication used only for people who suffered from psychosis.

In October 2006, the mental hospital ordered Chang's sister to take him home quietly. At that time, Chang was mentally disoriented, his face and nose were swollen, and he was on the verge of losing his eyesight. At home, Chang did not sleep at night and shouted incoherently. After Mr. Chang regained consciousness, he told his family that he didn't know what medication he was given at the mental hospital. His entire body was in pain. His head, nose and eyes were in constant pain. Later, Mr. Chang's nose became more and more swollen and bled constantly. He also lost his eyesight.

Mr. Chang died at 5 a.m. on January 18, 2007. His ears and eyes were bleeding, and his nose and mouth were filled with blood.

After Mr. Chang passed away, his elder and younger sister went to the County 610 Office. Members of the 610 Office teamed up with the Civic Administration Bureau and attacked the two sisters verbally. Mr. Chang's corpse was then taken secretly by his family to the funeral home for cremation.

Cao Jingzhen and Cao Sunyuan Were Tortured to Death at Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City

Every practitioner who was detained at Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City of Henan Province was tortured and suffered forced brainwashing.

Ms. Cao Jingzheng, over 50 years old, was a practitioner from the rural area of Yuanjiang in Hunan Province. She weighed 60kg [132 pounds] until her detention in the forced labor camp. After suffering cruel and inhuman torture, she weight only 47 kg [100 pounds]. Guards under the orders of Xiao [surname] punched and kicked her, and broke three of her ribs. Ms. Cao's internal organs were severely damaged and there was pus in her vomit and bowel movements. She couldn't eat, so guards force-fed her. They also forced her to watch videotapes defaming Falun Gong. The camp did not release her until she was paralyzed, bed-ridden and near death. Her family took her home to Yuanjiang to die.

Practitioner Ms. Cao, over 50 years old, was a teacher at Hunan Normal University. Cao Sunyuan was shocked with electric batons, cruelly beaten, handcuffed, detained in solitary confinement, and beaten while being hung up and during forced-feeding. She had a chronic nose bleed. After Ms. Cao suffered a mental collapse, her family was allowed to take her home. She passed away soon after.

Ms. Bai from Liaoning Province Died from Cruel Torture and Injections of Unknown Drugs

Ms. Bai Shufen, 59 years old, was a resident of Andi Town in Fuxin County of Liaoning Province. Ms. Bai had many diseases before she began to practice Falun Gong. Her entire body was swollen because of liver cirrhosis. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1998, and all of her illnesses were subsequently cured. She became mentally and physically healthy and could do housework and work in the field.

After the Jiang Zemin regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Bai Shufei used her own experience to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She went to appeal to the government, as allowed under the Chinese Constitution. She was arrested and detained at the Fuxin County Detention Center. Her family was blackmailed by CCP members. At Fuxin County Detention Center, she was forced to sit on a board, put in solitary confinement, handcuffed behind her back and suffered the tiger bench. She suffered mentally and physically. Then, she was transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for further torture. She was shocked with electric batons, tied up with a rope and suffered other cruel torture for more than one year. She was also injected with unknown drugs. She died on November 15, 2006 as a result of all the physical and mental abuse she suffered.

Because Ms. Bai's husband supported her in her practice of Falun Gong, he was viciously harassed by the head of the police station He Xiaodong from Pengandi Town Police Station and Lu Dianjun, who was the former head of the police station. Ms. Bai's husband passed away over one month ago.

Disabled Mr. Jin Chengshan Is Dying in Hulan District Police Department, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

Mr. Jin Chengshan, 46, is disabled and lives in Hulan District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He is paralyzed from the waist down and relies on others to take care of him. In order to improve his health, he began practicing Falun Gong and was getting stronger. His wife Ms. Jian Xiaohua saw the wonderful results from Falun Gong and also began practicing herself.

In March 2005, Wang Keda (male, deputy leader of the National Security Team, Hulan District Police Department) and Xu Xingwu (male, Wang's team member) broke into Mr. Jin's home without a warrant. They broke into Mr. Jin's daughter's drawer and stole 13,000 yuan. They also took her computer and cell phone.

In December 2006, Mr. Jin went to the police department and requested the return of the 13,000 yuan, but the police refused to do so.

Several days later, at around 3:00 p.m. on December 22, 2006, Wang Keda and Xu Xingwu knocked on the door and declared that they came to return the 13,000 yuan. Once the door was opened, more than 20 policemen rushed in. They did not say anything more about returning the money and carried Mr. Jin away on a stretcher despite his objection. He was taken to a high-security black building in the rear courtyard of the Harbin City Police Hospital. The building has no visible name or address. It is called the Sick Prisoners' Hospital, or the Fourth Detention Center. It has four floors and all the windows have white covers on them at all times. The cells are the same as those of a prison. Sick prisoners are thrown into beds and the iron doors are locked. Doctors and nurses are rarely seen there. Mr. Jin has cried out loudly that Falun Dafa is good in defiance of the persecution. The administration has transferred Ms. Jiao Xiaohua, Mr. Jin's wife, to the same building at the same time. Ms. Jiao is locked in another cell and only allowed to visit her husband once a day to take care of his toilet needs, as he is unable to do so due to his handicap. Mr. Jin has been locked up for more than 60 days. His skin is ulcerated and he is in tremendous pain.

The police in Hulan Police Station robbed an innocent person, and when the victim requested the money's return, they fabricated false charges to detain, arrest and persecute the victim. They are the real criminals.

CCP Agents in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province: "They Will Be Imprisoned As Long As They Are Still Alive"

Since June 2006, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province has become even worse, under the orders of Luo Gan. Luo, the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Political and Judiciary committee, has committed many major crimes against Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested and sentenced continuously. Many practitioners were arrested at home because they were on a blacklist.

On December 22, 2006, four practitioners from Hulan District were arrested. Among them were two practitioners with disabilities. Mr. Jin Chengshan cannot take care of himself due to his quadriplegia, while Mr. Cui Xin cannot walk because of a condition in his legs and feet. However, both of them are being detained in the back of Harbin City Police Hospital. Practitioners with severe physical disorders from being subjected to torture are detained and further mistreated there.

Although there are many lesions all over Mr. Jin Chengshan's body because of pressure ulcers, the CCP agents will not release him. In addition, Mr. Jin, his wife Ms. Jiao Xiaohua, and Mr. Cui Xin will soon be tried in court. Their cases are being supervised by agents of Hulan District Court. It is being said that as long as Mr. Jin and Mr. Cui are still alive, they will be sentenced to imprisonment. Release on bail for medical treatment will not be allowed.

Reportedly at present, practitioners detained in Harbin City Women's Prison who have been severely mistreated are watched and monitored very closely. There is a special ward for patient prisoners and prisoners with disabilities, and practitioners there are forced to undergo brainwashing. Practitioners' applications for release on bail for medical treatment are highly restricted.

Those practitioners' family members keep going to Hulan District Police Department to ask for their release. They are told that no one is allowed to handle these cases. Only the directors of Harbin City Police Department and the 610 Office can take charge of these practitioners' cases. Some agents say that they are not willing to take charge of practitioners' cases. A sympathetic agent said, "I could help you if you killed a person or committed arson, but I can't help on Falun Gong issues and don't dare to help. If you do not write the 'Four Statements', you will be severely sentenced."

The order "if they are still alive, they will be sent to prison" comes directly from Beijing. The agents under Luo Gan go directly to Hulan District and enforce the orders to persecute Falun Gong. If hundreds of Falun Gong fliers are found at a practitioner's house, the practitioner will be sentenced to at least three years in prison.

The Persecution Committed in Nanjing Women's Prison

Nanjing Women's Prison has six wards, each of which imprisons some illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioners. Since October 2005, each 610 Office from different areas of Jiangsu Province has sent officials to the Nanjing Women's Prison and launched a new round of persecution to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners. Wu Xiaofeng, the Political Commissar, is mainly in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. She was transferred from the Nantong Prison. She racked her brain in an effort to brainwash and "transform" Falun Gong practitioners. Several Falun Gong practitioners died, became mentally delirious or were maimed from persecution in Nanjing Prison.

To punish Falun Gong practitioners with all possible means, wardens in Nanjing Women's Prison did not allow Falun Gong practitioners to purchase goods for daily needs, increased their work times and workloads, forced them to stand outside drenched in water in the winter to shiver in the icy wind, or forced them to bake under the sun in the extremely hot weather until someone passes out. Sometimes, the wardens would deny the practitioners' relatives' visitation rights, and practitioners were forbidden from calling their relatives. To punish Falun Gong practitioners using more severe means, wardens would hang up practitioners by their handcuffs and put them in solitary confinement. As a reward for successfully persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, prison guard Huang Fengying has been promoted to associate director of  the 3rd ward.

Information on the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners:

Ms. Huang Yanli, a Falun Gong practitioner, about 40, was imprisoned in the 5th ward. She had had Lupus, from which she completely recovered after practicing Falun Gong. She was not allowed to practice Falun Gong during her imprisonment, and thus her old disease relapsed. Although her disease was very severe, Nanjing Women's Prison neither allowed her to see a doctor nor allowed her to leave the prison on bail for medical treatment. The jail continued to imprison her and did not let her go home until she was on the brink of death. Huang passed away a few days after she left the prison. Despite these facts, Nanjing Women's Prison shamelessly claimed that Huang died due to her refusal of medical treatment.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Di, resident of Suining County, Xuzhou City, about 30, was imprisoned at the 4th ward in Nanjing Women's Prison. Persecution caused her to suffer mental trauma.

Ms. Song Weijuan, a Falun Gong practitioner in Nantong City, was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison and held in Nanjing Women's Prison. In the last half year of 2005, the Security Bureau investigated Song again and threatened to extend her sentence. Long-term slave labor and intense mental pressure weakened Song's body, and she could not get any rest or medical treatment.

Zhang Xiurong, Falun Gong practitioner in Xuzhou City, was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. Zhang is very firm in her faith.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. You Guoying, about 40, worked for the labor union at the City Engineering Division of Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province. She was fired in 2003 for practicing Falun Gong. In 2004, she distributed fliers about Falun Gong in Wuxi City and thus was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment by Wuxi City Court. She is now imprisoned in the 2nd Ward. In early 2006, she had to be hospitalized for injuries sustained from the persecution.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuhua, about 40, has a Master's degree. She was the director of the Russian Language Department, Nanjing Teacher University, and a leader in her field. She was leading several academic research projects and published several scholarly articles and books. She is enthusiastic in teaching and was ranked as an excellent young teacher several times in her university. Zhang is warm-hearted and enthusiastic in charity work. She was the deputy of the local regional People's Congress. Zhang lost her freedom in 2000 and she is now imprisoned at the 5th ward in Nanjing Women's Prison.

Other Falun Gong practitioners who are imprisoned in Nanjing Women's Prison include: Li Jinan from Kunshan City, Huang Lijun from Lishui County, and Xue Shuyu from Changzhou City.
