  • Washington, DC: Visiting CCP Minister of Information Industry Wang Xudong Served for His Role in Persecution of Falun Gong in China

On the morning of May 25, Wang Xudong, the CCP Minister of Information Industry and former Hebei Provincial Party Committee Secretary, was served with a complaint for his role in the persecution of Falun Gong in China at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Virginia near Washington DC. Wang is a member of the Chinese trade delegation led by Vice Prime Minister Wu Yi.

According to an eyewitness, at about 8a.m., many members of the Chinese delegation gathered in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton Hotel, waiting for transportation. Among them, one large man was surrounded by several people who appeared to be bodyguards and US secret police. Someone approached them and called out "Wang Xudong." Hearing this, the man turned his head to see who called. The person approaching put an envelope in front of the body shield formed by the secret police, saying that the envelope contained legal documents regarding a lawsuit against Wang. After the person left, a secret policeman picked up the envelope and handed it to Wang Xudong. Wang didn't dare to accept it and pushed it back to the secret police. The policeman once again handed the envelope to Wang.

At the entrance of the hotel, Wang was handed another complaint envelope. According to the eyewitness, Wang appeared to be upset and frightened.

According to the database of Clearwisdom.net, Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted most severely in five Chinese provinces. More than half of the cases in which practitioners died while being persecuted happened in these five provinces. Hebei Province is one of them, and Wang was the Hebei Provincial Party Committee Secretary, overseeing the persecution in the province.

Dr. Terri Marsh, executive director of the Washington-based Human Rights Law Foundation, told a Clearwisdom reporter that Wang is one of the top Chinese Communist officials who should take major responsibility for the persecution.

According to the World Organization to Investigation of the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), during Wang's tenure as Hebei Province CCP Committee Secretary (essentially the top official in the Province) from 2000 to 2002, Wang diligently carried out the persecution spearheaded by Jiang Zemin (former head of the Chinese Communist Party-CCP), turning Hebei Province into one of the provinces which persecuted Falun Gong most brutally. After he took the post of Minister of Information Industry, Wang continued to actively promote the CCP's persecution by monitoring communications, following targets and controlling the internet, which lead to the arrest of many practitioners. He also oversees implementation of the information blockade in the whole country, and covers up facts of the persecution.

When Wang visited Chicago three years ago, according to Attorney Marsh, he tried hard to avoid being recognized. After a lawsuit against him was filed by local practitioners, Wang immediately returned to Washington DC, hiding in the Chinese Embassy.

Marsh said: "Today, we successfully served him with the complaint. In the past, we have tried various methods to deliver it to Wang, perfecting the service on the lawsuit we have filed against him in Chicago."

Dr. Marsh continued: "I know that these top communist officials who have been actively involved in the persecution do not want to be sued in the US as they do not want to be held accountable for their crimes. They know that the US is a country governed by the rule of law, that its judicial system is independent of the administrative branch. For this very reason, they try their best to dodge lawsuits. Facing these lawsuits, they are very anxious and frightened because they know that they have committed crimes. Nevertheless, sooner or later, they will be brought to justice."

Dr. Marsh called upon Wang to respond to the lawsuit. "Since you have been sued, why don't you appear in court to respond to the charges against you and let the public see the truth?"

Regarding Chinese officials who continue to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, Dr. Marsh said: "Wake up! Justice will soon prevail and soon perpetrators of the persecution will be held accountable. I am not talking about justice in the spiritual realm. I am talking about justice in this world. My suggestion is that you should stop persecuting Falun Gong and choose to do good things from now on."

Washington DC Practitioners Protest Visit of Human Rights Scoundrel Bo Xilai

A Chinese trade delegation recently visited Washington DC, and one of the delegation members is Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, a notorious human rights scoundrel for his role in the persecution of Falun Gong. On the evening of May 24, outside the Capital Hilton Hotel where the delegation was attending a banquet, local practitioners held a protest, calling on the US government to deport Bo Xilai.

Washington DC practitioners protest visit of human rights scoundrel Bo Xilai

Outside the hotel, the practitioners unfurled several giant banners which read: "Deport Human Rights Scoundrel Bo Xilai," "Bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing and Zhou Yongkang to Justice" and "Falun Dafa is Good." Several practitioners distributed truth-clarifying materials to passersby.

Ms. Ge, an actuary for a federal government agency, organized this protest. She said: "Bo Xilai is one of the chief perpetrators of the persecution. Between 1999 and 2003, Bo Xilai acted as mayor of Dalian City, deputy secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee of Liaoning Province and governor of Liaoning Province. It was estimated, as of November 2005, at least 333 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death in Liaoning Province, including Ms. Gao Rongrong whose facial disfigurement and brutal murder shocked the international community. Bo Xilai also built large-scale prison facilities, one of which is the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where 18 female Falun Gong practitioners were once stripped naked and thrown into male cells for sexual abuse. In addition, the first case of organ harvesting atrocities was also revealed in Liaoning Province. We are here to let the Americans and the world know that Bo Xilai is a human rights scoundrel and we are here to call on the US government to deport Bo. Meanwhile, we also appeal to all kind-hearted people to help us end the persecution.

"We also hope that other members of the Chinese delegation will start to face the truth about the persecution and see clear the brutal nature of the CCP so that they can make a right choice for their futures."

Ms. Tao is in her 60s. Holding a photo frame of young lady, she said: "When Bo Xilai was the governor of Liaoning Province, many practitioners were persecuted to death, including this young beautiful lady. Her face was disfigured and she died while she was being brutally persecuted. Whenever I think about all these tragedies, I feel very sad. Is there anything wrong with being a good person? Why has CCP persecuted Falun Gong practitioners so brutally, leading to the deaths of more than 3000 practitioners? We want the whole world know that we will expose all these evildoers until everyone of them is brought to justice."

    Lawsuit against Bo in Process

Chinese Communist Party officials often face lawsuits for their role in the persecution when they visit other countries. In April 2004, when visiting Washington DC, Bo Xilai was sued by local practitioners for torture and crimes against humanity. In addition, he has been sued in many other countries.

Dr. Terri Marsh, Executive Director of the Washington-based Human Rights Law Foundation, said: "On February 7, 2007, a hearing was held regarding the Bo Xilai case and the case is still in progress."

Regarding questions as to how can Bo return to Washington DC after being sued, Marsh said: "First of all, the judicial branch and the executive branch are completely independent. Secondly, the lawsuit is still in process and no verdict has been made. Once the court finds Bo guilty, we will try our best to prevent him from entering the US again. The current case against Bo is a civil lawsuit. We are also planning to file a criminal lawsuit against him. In that case, if the court rules that Bo is guilty, he will be extradited to the US and incarcerated. "

At the protest site, an Australian tourist told a Clearwisdom reporter that she had heard about the persecution back in her country and had seen practitioners' protest activities. She said: "They should have their human rights."

Upon seeing the banners and posters, three students from the University of Michigan said: "This [persecution] looks horrible. Why have we never heard about this before? The media should let more people know about this persecution." These students are learning Chinese. They said: "We hope for a good relationship between the US and China. However, we are surprised to learn that such bad things are happening in China. We believe that the situation will have real improvement only if more people pay attention to this."

Near to the protest site, there was a group of people holding the CCP's blood-red flag to welcome the delegation. The reporter learned that many of them were workers hired by the Chinese Embassy. Several practitioners tried to talk with them.

Ms. Ge said: "Many of these Chinese people are hard-working good people. However, because of the CCP's brainwashing, they don't know the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Fortunately, they are willing to listen and to see. They wanted to see every banner we unfurled and they were shocked to learn the truth. I think this experience will be good for them. We also hope that members of the delegation can awaken to the truth and choose to denounce the CCP for their own benefit."

Hong Kong: Falun Gong Information Booth Attacked by Thugs Thought to be CCP Agents

On the afternoon of May 24, a Falun Gong information booth at a famous tourist site was attacked by two thugs. The same morning, volunteers at a nearby Service Booth for Quitting the CCP were also harassed by unknown persons. Local practitioners believe that the incidents were conceived and directed by CCP agents.

A Hong Kong truth-clarifying booth was attacked by thugs, posters were smashed and defaced with red paint

The truth-clarifying booth is located at Tsim Sha Tsui. According to practitioners who witnessed the attack, around 1:45 p.m., two Chinese men who were about 25 years old came to the booth. All of a sudden, one knocked an LCD display which was playing a Falun Gong informational video to the ground, while the other man started to spray posters and other materials with red paint. After the attack, they ran to a nearby taxi station. The whole incident lasted for about one minute. After receiving a call from the practitioners, police investigated the site, collected material evidence and recorded statements from the practitioners.

The practitioners said that the thugs were apparently well prepared, with open red paint cans and gloved hands. One of the two was about 1.8 meters (5' 9") tall with short hair wearing a red T-shirt and white gloves; the other was about 1.7 meters (5' 6") tall.

Ms. Chen was present at the site. She said: "The attack was very professional and there was an another person taking photos. Because the information booth is playing an increasing role in clarifying the truth to Chinese tourists, the chief perpetrators behind the stage are most likely CCP agents. She said: "After we called the police for help, I saw a person taking photos of the site. I asked him which newspaper he worked for. He replied that he was just taking photos for himself out of interest. He then left. However, he quickly turned around to take more photos. I feel that his job was to take photos of the attack as evidence of their 'achievement'."

During the attack, an LCD display was damaged, and many truth-clarifying materials and posters were damaged by red paint. Practitioners said that they would continue their truth-clarifying efforts to help more Chinese people, despite the attack.

Volunteers at a nearby Service Booth for Quitting the CCP were also harassed in the morning. While several unknown persons threatened to assault two volunteers of the booth, another person was taking photos of the scene. Soon police officers arrived. Volunteer Mr. Qin recounted the incident: "In the beginning, a man in his 60s began verbally harassing us. Then two more joined him. Two of them claimed to be a married couple. There was a man in his 40s taking photos during the incident. I feel that this harassment was organized, because typically, people who hold different opinions would at most just say a few cuss words and then leave. However, today these people tried to assault us. Apparently, they want to denigrate our reputation. If we defend ourselves, photos will be published in pro-communist newspapers."

The practitioners pointed out that a series of incidents happening recently in Hong Kong clearly show that agents for the CCP are very active and they are committing crimes, threatening the safety of all residents, including Falun Gong practitioners. The Hong Kong government has the obligation to protect people from being threatened, monitored and harassed by the CCP.

Hong Kong: Falun Gong Practitioners Condemn the Persecution and its Extension to Hong Kong

Recently, the CCP regime arrested a Falun Gong practitioner from Hong Kong and a family member of a Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioner. The CCP officials claim they will arrest all Falun Gong practitioners from Hong Kong who dare to go to Mainland China. To condemn the persecution and its extension to Hong Kong, practitioners and their supporters held a rally at Standard Garden on May 23, 2007.

    The rally

Falun Gong practitioners and Mr. Leung Kwok-hung, a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, held a rally at Standard Garden on May 23, 2007. After the rally, the attendees marched to the City Government, and submitted a letter of appeal to Donald Tsang, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, calling for help in rescuing four Falun Gong practitioners from Hong Kong who were arrested and imprisoned by the CCP regime last year.

At the rally, some unidentified people came to take videos of practitioners. Practitioners tried to stop them, but they insisted. Practitioners called upon the CCP spies to stop their activities and stop providing information to the CCP.

The CCP extends the persecution of Falun Gong to Hong KongMr. Kan Hung-Cheung, the spokesman of the Falun Dafa Association in Hong Kong, pointed out that one Falun Gong practitioner from Hong Kong and a family member of another practitioner were arrested in Shenzhen on May 18 and 19. In the last year, four Falun Gong practitioners and a family member from Hong Kong were arrested, and some of them face illegal trials. Mr. Kan said that the arrests are an indication that the CCP has extended its persecution of Falun Gong to Hong Kong.

Ms. Liu is a family member of a Falun Gong practitioner in Hong Kong. She was arrested just because she attended an activity held on April 22 in Hong Kong to support 20 Million withdrawals from the CCP. The CCP officials claimed that they will arrest any practitioner in Hong Kong who enters Mainland China. One policeman of the CCP told practitioners that the CCP videotaped the activity of the "World Falun Dafa Day" celebration and has photos of every attendee. Mr. Kan condemned the CCP's evil behavior.

Calling upon Hong Kong Government to protect its citizens

Mr. Kan pointed out that the CCP's spies harass Hong Kong citizens, violate human right and interfere with people's freedom. He called for awareness of the situation.

Mr. Kan said: "The CCP has extended the persecution to Hong Kong. Their spies take videos of our activities. We call upon the Hong Kong government to pay more attention to this and not allow the CCP's spies to interfere with citizens' activities."

Mr. Kan pointed out that the Hong Kong government has the responsibility to rescue the Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners who are imprisoned in China, and to protect Hong Kong citizens.

Leung Kwok-hung: Hong Kong Government should help to rescue Falun Gong practitionersMr. Leung Kwok-hung, a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, pointed out that the Hong Kong Government is responsible to help rescue Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned in China. He said: "Many lawyers in China, such as Gao Zhisheng, were persecuted because they helped Falun Gong practitioners. I call upon the Hong Kong lawyers who are licensed in China to offer help to Falun Gong practitioners. I also call upon the Lawyers' Association in Hong Kong to pay attention to the persecution of Chinese lawyers."

Szeto Wah: The CCP has a blacklistMr. Szeto Wah, president of the "Hong Kong Residents Supporting the China Democratic Movement Union", who could not attend the rally, said that the CCP is still a tyrannical power although it looks to be opening up at the surface level. Mr. Szeto said: "The CCP is still attacking any expression of differing opinions and violating the freedom of speech. I believe that people can tell from the arrests of these Falun Gong practitioners that the political situation in China is still very severe."

Mr. Szeto said: "I believe there are many CCP's spies in Hong Kong, who collect information and make a blacklist of Falun Gong practitioners. I hope that people are aware of it."

Mr. David Kilgour wrote to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, calling for helpMr. David Kilgour, a former Canadian Parliament Member and Secretary of State for the Asia Pacific region, wrote to Mr. Donald Tsang, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, calling for help for Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Kilgour expressed that Ms. Fu, whose husband was arrested in Shenzhen on May 18, asked him for help. Mr. Kilgour said that the Olympic Games should not be held in a country where Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted. He asked Mr. Tsang to help rescue Mr. Fu.

Ottawa: Falun Gong Group Holds Press Conference, Urge the Government to Not Allow Bo Xilai to Enter Canada

Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, who was actively involved in the persecution of Falun Gong when he was the mayor of Dalian City and the governor of Liaoning Province, plans to visit Canada on Monday, May 28 2007. Falun Gong practitioners in Canada are urging the Canadian government to not allow Bo Xilai to enter the country.

Mr. Zeng Xiaona's mother Huang Xin is jailed in the Women's Prison in Liaoning

    Mr. David Kilgour

On May 24, 2007, representatives of Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. David Kilgour, former Parliament Member and former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia Pacific, Mr. David Harris, a former top official with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and the Senior Fellow for National Security with the Canadian Coalition for Democracies, and two Falun Gong practitioners whose relatives are being persecuted in Liaoning Province, China, held a press conference at the Canadian Parliament, urging the Canadian government to cancel the invitation of Bo Xilai, forbid his entry into Canada and investigate his role in the persecution of Falun Gong in Liaoning Province, China.

Bo Xilai Is Actively Involved in the Persecution of Falun Gong; His Name Is on the List of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Bo Xilai was a former Vice Secretary of the Liaoning Party Committee, Governor of Liaoning Province, Secretary of Dalian City Party Committee and Mayor of Dalian City. Since the initiation of the persecution of Falun Gong, Bo has managed and directed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Liaoning Province. When Bo was in charge, Dalian was one of the cities where the most severe persecution occurred in China. Fifteen practitioners were tortured to death. When he was governor of Liaoning Province, one billion yuan (about $123 million) was invested in construction of prisons. More than 500 million yuan (about $61.6 million) was invested in the Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang. According to the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, 369 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death in Liaoning Province.

In the Statement on the Visit to Canada by China's Commerce Minister Bo Xilai, Mr. Harris said: "The Canadian Coalition for Democracies (CCD) is concerned about the entry into Canada of China's Commerce Minister, Bo Xilai on Monday May 28th, 2007. There are serious allegations about Bo Xilai regarding torture and crimes against humanity. These concerns have been brought to the attention of Canadian government officials, the RCMP and the Department of Justice's Interdepartmental Operations Group of Canada; Crimes Against Humanity & War Crimes Program."

Through the end of January 2004, Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Program established a list of Chinese officials from each level of Party Committees, "610 Offices," local governments and forced labor camps that are responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong for The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). If anyone on the list attempts to enter Canada, a prompt investigation could take place, potentially resulting in refusal of visas to Canada, deportation, charges and punishment based on Canada's laws governing crimes against humanity and war crimes.

Xiaonan Zeng, a resident of Toronto, gave testimony at the press conference that his mother was still imprisoned in China for practicing Falun Gong. His mother Huang Xin, over 50 years old, has been arrested and imprisoned many times. She was unlawfully sentenced to an 8-year prison term. In prison, she was tortured and injected with toxic drugs that damaged her nervous system, leading to impaired speech and walking disability. She was not able to recognize her husband.

Mr. Zeng said that Bo Xilai was the governor of Liaoning and he is responsible for Huang Xin's case.

Sixty-seven-year-old Zhao Yu is from Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province.. Her husband, Zhen Weidong, was a famous Chinese medicine doctor and a Falun Gong practitioner. During the persecution, Zhen Weidong was forced to quit his Chinese medicine practice. Zhao Yu said: "My husband developed serious heart disease due to the mental pressure and the CCP's harassment. He passed away in May 2001. My children have been harassed too and were sent to a brainwashing center. Later, everyone in my family was forced to become homeless."

Mr. Kilgour said: "We cite in our report a statement by a former wife of a surgeon in that province at the time that Mr. Bo was a very active official in that province. He was the mayor of Dalian from 1999 to 2001 and the governor of the province from 2001 to 2004. That is, the example where 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners had their corneas removed by this woman's husband and all of those 2,000 people, she told us, were killed and their bodies were burned."

Mr. Kilgour stated that there is solid evidence showing that Bo Xilai was actively involved in the persecution, and he hoped that the Minister of Immigration will cancel the invitation to Bo Xilai. He said: "I don't think the minister of Immigration will have to bar him, but I think she should do it. She should do the correct thing to show Canadians and the terrible people around the world that they cannot come into Canada if they have been actively involved, as he was, in terrible crimes against humanity and against the Falun Gong community in China. So I hope she will bar him, and that he will not come. He must not come. Canada must not allow him to come."

Mr. Harris said that under Canadian law, non-citizens have been barred from entering the country. On matters including criminality and terrorism, it is our view that Mr. Bo should be excluded certainly on the basis of his implication on organ harvesting in China.

Bo Xilai Will face law suit if he enters Canada

Ms. Zhou Limin, the spokesperson of the Falun Dafa Association in Canada, said that Bo Xilai will face a law suit if he enters Canada.

On September 7, 2005, Mr. Lawrence Greenspon, a famous human rights lawyer in Ottawa, sued Bo Xilai at the Ontario Supreme Court for torturing Falun Gong practitioners. The Falun Dafa Association in Canada requested that the Canadian government bar Bo Xilai and Xia Deren from entering Canada in September 2005, and their names were later removed from the list of those who would visit Canada.

So far, Falun Gong practitioners in more than 10 countries have filed lawsuits against Bo Xilai, charging him with genocide, engaging in illegal arrests, unjustifiable imprisonment, torture and other charges. These countries include the USA, UK, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia, Australia, Korea, Spain and Switzerland.
