Later the police from Nanguan Station arrested the couple at their home. They are detained and mistreated in Gaomi City Detention Center.

This couple has been persecuted for many years just because they believe in Falun Gong. Ms. Wang Xianglan was previously sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Mrs. Wang used to have an unknown illness. Her family searched for doctors who could cure her, but to no avail. Only after she started to practice Falun Gong in 1997, her illness was cured. Mr. Wang Dejun witnessed her recovery, so he also began to practice Falun Gong.

After July 20, 1999, the date that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution, they went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. They were arrested by Jiang Village Police Station and sent into Gaomi Detention Center, where they suffered inhuman torture.

After their release, the police kept harassing them. They lost their freedom. Especially, their daughter was hurt. Their neighbors agreed that the police were rude and vicious.

Around January 1, 2000, several policemen broke into Mr. Wang Dejun's home and confiscated a picture of the founder of Falun Gong. They also threatened that they would arrest them after the Chinese New Year. The couple was forced into homelessness.

In 2001, Mr. Wang and his wife were arrested at a Falun Gong informational materials production site. They were taken to a detention center. Mr. Wang Dejun developed heart trouble. The guards were afraid to take responsibility, so they released Mr. Wang. But, Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

After Mr. Wang returned home, the police continuously threatened him. He had to leave hometown to make a living. His daughter lived with her grandmother. When Ms. Wang eventually went back to home from the forced labor camp in 2003, the police demand Mr. Wang's whereabouts, but she refused to tell them.

During the CCP's two conference in 2009, Jiang Village's police tried to arrest her. If they could not find her during the day, they returned at night. She had to hide somewhere else. Her neighbor told her that the police had climbed over the wall several times. Ms. Wang had to leave her home and find work somewhere else, as the daughter's high school tuition fee had to be paid.

On August 31, 2009, Mr. Wang Dejun and Ms. Wang Xianglan were arrested again.
