More Exposure of the Wickedness in Persecuting Falun Dafa Practitioners in Shandong Province (08/30/00)

Case One: Cao Zhenqi, male, 36, farmer, Changyi County, Shandong Province

On Feburary 15, 2000, Cao Zhenqi went to Beijing to appeal [for Falun Gong], and on Feburary 18, the local county police took him back. The head of the detention center, Shao Mingyi, used a rubber club and boots to beat and kick his face and ribs. Cao Zhenqi then was handcuffed outside in the cold. Afterwards, the county leaders personally beat him. Cao Zhenqi was detained in Changyi Criminal Detention Center for one month. After returning to his village, he was detained for another 22 days. After staying at home for ten days, and on April 25, he was again detained by the village for two days.

While he was doing work at home, the village police sent out people to arrest him. Several people in the joint force [against Falun Gong], Zhang Zaicheng, Han Yuncheng, and Yue Puchang beat him until he passed out. When the police saw he was about to die, they took Caozhenqi’s family members to the police station and then left. Cao Zhenqi’s family took him to the Zhangling Hospital on and July 31. Cao Zhenqi was unconscious from two o'clock in the afternoon till the morning of the next day. On August 1, his family made emergency calls to transfer him to Changyi Hospital.

This picture was taken on the sixth or seventh day after the beatings (Changyi Hospital)

Case Two: Zhang Pinghua, female, 38, house wife, Weifang City, Shandong Privince

On July 21, 1999, Zhang Pinghua went to Beijing to tell the truth of Falun Gong to the government. The Beijing police forced their way into her hotel room and arrested her, and had her detained at the Weifangzhu Liaison Office in Beijing for a day and a night. Afterwards, she was then taken back to Weifang City, and detained at a local police station for another day.

On October 7, 1999, she went to Beijing again to tell the truth of Falun Gong to the government. She was arrested at the Beijing Dongliang Hostel, and then taken to the Weifang Liaison Office in Beijing. The police made her knelt down on the floor, and would hit her head if she moved. They exhorted over 1,520 Yuan from her, and held her in Beijing for one day and two nights. She was then taken to the Weifang Dongjiao Hotel, and her family was required to pay 500 Yuan. The local police then detained her for a day and a night, then the Public Security Bureau held her for 15 days. At 6:00 pm on October 30, she was taken away by the Nanguan Street Office, and was illegally held in the Xinghua Hotel for 9 days. During this time the Weifang government and Nanguan Street Office forced her to write a letter of guarantee of not practicing Falun Gong anymore; her family was also pressured to have her writing the guarantee. The police and Safety Bureau continuously pressured her as well. She went on a hunger strike to protest against these illegal procedures, and was then detained for 30 days. When she was in prison, she would recite articles written by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Because of this, there was an officer named Feng who forced her to stretch her arms out of the top bars, and she was handcuffed in such a way that she couldn’t sit, kneel down, or stand; it was a very painful position. It was December then, and the weather was quite cold. There was another officer named Han who used a wooden club to beat her head and hands. She was handcuffed this way for nearly 4 hours, and the handcuffs were digging into her skin. Her hands became bluish purple, and were extremely swollen. Her thumbs were numb and without feeling. After 30 days, she was taken away again by the Nanguan Street Office and held in the Xinghua Hotel for 19 days. During this time, the Nanguan Street Office secretary of the party Zhao Baokai and the director Zhu Qingli forced her to pay 10,000 Yuan, or else they would have her mother-in-law’s home and her older brother’s home confiscated. They also claimed that they would secretly transfer her to other places. Zhang Pinghua’s brother had no choice but to borrow the 10,000 Yuan.

On July 21, 2000, Zhang Pinghua went to Beijing again to show the government and people of the world that Falun Gong is not an evil cult, but an upright Fa. When she was on Tiananmen Square, a police officer asked where she was from, but she would not respond and requested to let her go home by herself. She was arrested and sent to the Zibo Liaison Office in Beijing, but she would still not say where she was from. The Zibo police called the Weifang Liaison Office in Beijing and asked them to come and see if they could recognize her. Once two Weifang policemen arrived, without saying anything they pushed Zhang Pinghua onto a bed and twisted her arms behind her back. They twisted her leg up, and said they were going to break her back. Zhang Pinghua was in such pain she screamed out, and fellow practitioners from Zibo who came in and shouted together: "It’s not right to beat people!" Only then did they stop torturing her. The Zibo police sent her to a branch of the Beijing police, and then had the Qingdao Liaison Office in Beijing take her away. Upon arriving at the Qingdao Liason Office, Zhang Pinghua was forced into a room and they began to beat her with fists and shoes. Three strong young officers beat her at the same time. She was kicked and punched on head, chin, chest, shoulders, and neck. After she was beaten to the ground, they would pick her up and continue with the beatings. They would beat and curse her with rage in their eyes. One of the officers grabbed her hair and slammed her head onto the wall with heavy noises. They then grabbed her hair again and threw her to the ground. One would stand on her hair while the other two would kick and stomp on her. She still would not respond after the beatings, so they grabbed her hair and drove their shoes into her eyes saying, "We’re going to beat you till you go blind." As they were saying this they stomped on the left side of her face until it swelled up. They then mockingly said, "The two sides of the face aren’t even, let’s flatten them out." They said to her, "If you want to hang yourself, we have a rope." She was bruised and swollen all over; the pain was so intense that she began to sweat everywhere, and she couldn’t sit down.

The wounds in the picture were taken 8 days after the beating. Most of the swollen parts receded, and the bruises got better. Some areas were not photographed. It was said that when she returned home, her body was colored like a map. The Qingdao police who beat her said, "She’s not from our city so we don’t care if she’s beaten to death."

Case Three: Yao Hexing, male, 25, Anqiu City, Shandong Province

On October 10, 1999, Yao Hexing went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was detained for 30 days by the police. During the time he was being detained, he was tied up with ropes for 22 hours. Because the ropes were tied on too tight and for too long, the blood could not flow, and necrosis of the flesh began and he had to be taken in for an operation on his skin. On June 3, 2000, he was arrested again for going to Beijing to appeal, and was detained for another 30 days. For a long time, his personal freedom was restricted by the public security supervisor at his work unit.

In addition, at the beginning of August, 2000, in order to carry out the order from their superior, the party officials at every level in Weifang City had conversations with party members who continued to practice Falun Dafa. They gave the practitioners two options. The first option was asking them to voluntarily resign from the party, and the second was making them being expelled from the party. They were forced to make a decision in a short period of time. Most Falun Dafa practitioners said they would not voluntarily resign from the party and stated: Cultivators are the ones who follow the teachings of Mr. Li Hongzhi and follow the characteristics of universe Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance) for making requirements for themselves. Everywhere they go their actions represent that of high standards. Because of this, those Falun Gong practitioners from the party were expelled from the party the next day.
