Candle Light Vigil in New York City in Memory of Ms. Zhao Jinhua

October 13, 1999

Last night approximately 200 people stood outside the Consulate General of the P.R. China in New York City. They stood with candles in hand to mourn the brutal death of a women, Zhao Jinhua. Ms Zhao was a Falun Gong practitioner in China who was beaten to death, while in police custody, because she refused to renounce her beliefs.

Although the demonstration was precipitated by the death of Zhao Jinhua, it was also to express concern of the relentless repression of Falun Dafa and its disciples in China, and the brutality and lack of human or legal rights being afforded the practitioners by the Chinese government.

There were other candlelight vigils being held wherever there was a Chinese Embassy or Consulate, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Sydney, etc.
