Editor's Note: An article entitled "Global Mission to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners" was posted on November 28, 2002. It is a list of persecuted and jailed Falun Gong practitioners in China who have family members in 16 countries overseas. These overseas Chinese request that the Chinese government release their family members immediately and unconditionally. Their stories are as follows:

I am Zhang Tianxiao, a Canadian Falun Dafa practitioner. My mother and brother-in-law of Jiang and his regime's persecution. My younger sister's whereabouts are currently unknown. I would like to tell the whole world the sad story of my family, in order to have justice served for my family members, and to call on kindhearted people to help rescue my sister Zhang Yunhe.

Rongrong cries, "I want Mommy, I want Daddy!"

Rongrong is only three years old, but she has lost both of her parents.

My two-year-old daughter Nannan is cuddled in my arms, smiling so sweetly. Looking at her innocent, cute little face, a feeling of sadness comes to my heart.

I think of my three-year-old niece Rongrong, my sister's daughter. She no longer has her parents nearby. Only three years old, she has experienced separation and death in her immediately family many times.

When Rongrong was born in November 1999, her father, Zou Songtao, was in a detention center. He had been detained at the end of October for appealing in Beijing, and was released at the end of December. Later, after being in and out of jail many times, he was tortured to death on November 3, 2000. In total, Rongrong was with her daddy for less than 6 months.

In May of 2001, my younger sister Yunhe was sighted by police while passing out truth clarifying materials, she had no other choice but to leave home in fear of being illegally arrested. Rongrong was now separated from her mother, and stayed with her grandparents.

Unfortunately, my mother, who was over 60 years old, took ill and died in August 2001 from the pain of losing her son-in-law and being separated from her daughter.

Rongrong has lost her father, her mother, and her grandmother, the three persons that loved her the most. Whenever she misses her loved ones, she steps up on a little stool, and reaches up to kiss her Daddy's box of ashes. Sometimes she tells others that her Daddy is in heaven.

The reason Rongrong lost her parents is ridiculous. It was because her parents cultivated Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, and wanted to be good people.

I Understand Songtao Now

Zou Songtao and Zhang Yunhe

When I walk on the path of cultivation today, I deeply regret that I have a guilty conscience regarding my brother-in-law.

Songtao excelled in his studies and career, had high virtue, and was very nice to others. His schoolmates praised him, and my parents especially loved him. He and my sister got to know each other because they practiced the same faith. They were married in November of 1998, and soon afterward had the gem of their love, their daughter Farong.

Songtao graduated from Nanjing University, and in 1999 received a Master's degree in Ocean biology from Ocean University of Qingdao. In July of 1999, Jiang and his regime began the systematic, illegal persecution of Falun Gong. On the morning of July 22nd, 1999, Songtao was arrested at his home, and illegally detained in a small hotel for one month. Later he was illegally detained countless times. He was once handcuffed to an iron chair (The iron chair is made of steel pipes. Victims are restrained on the iron chairs with both arms and legs tied for a long period of time. See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/1/9/17577.html for illustration) by the Director of the Taixi Police Station, Gong Guoquan, in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Gong beat him with the sole of his shoe, so viciously that it resulting in bleeding and his head swelling to twice it's size, beyond the point of recognition. He passed out for more than 20 minutes.

In July of 2000, Songtao was tricked into going to the Qingdao City Police Department, and was subsequently sent to Qingdao City Labor Camp in Shandong Province. He was suddenly transferred to Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province at the end of September, 2000.

Four months later, on the morning of November 3rd, 2000, policemen Zheng Wanxin, Shao Zhenghua, and others took Songtao by himself into an interrogation room. After two hours of torture, Songtao left the world at 11:30 A.M. that day. He was only 28 years old.

According to witnesses, Songtao was killed by repeated shocking with electric batons. The labor camp immediately transferred the three persons who conducted the act, including the killer and policemen on duty, in order to cover their crimes, and lied to the world, saying that Songtao had died from a suicidal jump from a high building.

Songtao left us just like that, and he is innocent! What has he done wrong?

Later I found out that even while being cruelly tortured and enduring brutal beatings, he never gave up his faith in Dafa.

Before I began practicing Falun Gong, I could not understand Songtao's behavior. Because he cultivated Falun Gong, he refused to bribe people, and missed a chance to work in a Research Institute upon graduation. I thought he was ignorant at the time. Later the government prohibited him from finding a job because of his belief. I thought he should give up cultivation since it blocked his way in finding a job. I tried to persuade him to give up many times while talking to him on the phone, and even lost my temper with him, hoping he would give up cultivation. I could not understand, and fanned my anger at him. He always listened quietly, and never blamed me.

While I was pregnant, after giving birth, and while breast-feeding my daughter, my family kept Songtao's death a secret from me, so as not to upset me during that special time. It wasn't until March 2001, when my daughter Nannan was already three months old, that my father suddenly began crying on the phone, and told me that Songtao had been tortured to death.

I was shocked! I could not believe this tragedy happened to my family. I could not stop asking myself, Why? Why? Exactly why?

Suddenly I so eagerly wanted to know, exactly what is Falun Gong?

In order completely understand Falun Gong, I read through Zhuan Falun and other works, read through the articles on Clearwisdom.net, and visited many Falun Dafa practitioners in Vancouver, B.C. I now know the truth and the lies, the good and the bad. I now feel that all the slander directed toward Falun Gong is obviously untrue.. This persecution is inhuman, and this Dafa is so pure and nice, broad and profound. No wonder so many Falun Dafa practitioners risk their lives to safeguard Dafa , as those in front fall, those behind them take up their position. I often cry because I regret not supporting Songtao in the early days.

Finally I understand Songtao, and I want to cultivate as well, as a Falun Dafa practitioner. I want to step forward to show my support for Dafa! For the sake of Songtao, I want to expose the unbelievable genocide conducted by Jiang and his regime. Also for the sake of Rongrong, I want her loving mother to return to her!

Rescue My Younger Sister, Yunhe

My sister and I are the only children in our immediate family, and we are very close. Yunhe was born in November of 1973. Because my mother did not have enough milk, she grew up on corn meal. She was always very slender, and in poor health. However, when she began cultivating Falun Dafa in 1997 she was reborn into another person, with a rosy face, and always in good spirits. I live on 4th floor, and I often heard her run up the stairs while singing. She was always calm when colleagues have conflicts, and helped solve the problems peacefully.

On April 25, 2000, the Qingdao City "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] once again arrested Songtao from his home. Yunhe thought it was wrong for the government to arrest people illegally and arbitrarily. She had benefited from Falun Dafa herself, so she went to Beijing to appeal. The Appeals Office was closed at the time, so she practiced the exercises on Tiananmen Square, and was subsequently detained in Changping County Detention Center, Beijing City.

Yunhe was beaten until wounds covered her body. She told me, "Seven or eight tall policemen rushed into the prison cell, grasped my hair with their fingers tightly, raised me up from the ground, and pulled me out of the crowd. I shouted loudly because of the severe pain from the pulling of my hair. The group of policemen beat me, stepped on my hands and feet, kicked me hard in the abdomen, pinched me, and used their elbows to hit me in the back of my head. I quickly lost consciousness. When I opened my eyes, the head policeman was grabbing my hair and hitting my head against the brick floor, which made a noise like "Pang! Pang!" When he saw that I was awake, they left."

I can't imagine how a lady with such a slight build like my sister could endure such brutal torture.

Yunhe used to be the chief accountant of Qingdao Derui Company, a German based company. She did excellent job. Because she cultivated Falun Dafa, the company was pressured by the Jiang regime to let her go.

For several months after Songtao died, Yunhe was too sad to live. Her beloved one died unjustly, and she had no place to appeal, because Jiang had ordered, "Whoever cultivates "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance" can be beaten to death, we will not be held accountable and it will be counted as suicide" In a country without a fair legal system, wrongly persecuted people are so helpless.

Despite her loss and sadness, police continued to harass and closely watch Yunhe. Nevertheless, she stepped forward to expose the facts about her husband Songtao being tortured to death by police, and she shared the facts about Falun Dafa.

In an article in memory of her Songtao, my sister wrote:

It is indeed difficult to find a soul mate. Though we were together for only two short years, it was better than a thousand years. I need you, Songtao! You never harmed others and were always kind to everyone. Why did you leave so early? The couple of weeks in July, before you were sent to the labor camp was the last time we stayed together. I remember that in the afternoon of July 18, you picked me up at work by motorcycle. You changed into a white shirt, and beige colored cotton pants. You looked so simple, and honest, pure, and righteous. You smiled at me from far away in the distance. But you were arrested on the morning of July 22.

I was looking forward to seeing you come back home a free man. You were enduring severe torture in the jail when our daughter was born. And I had been waiting for your return to celebrate her first birthday. But now you won't ever come back. What kind of life will it be without you! We suffered so much from being apart for the entire past year, and now we must be apart forever! I could never believe that a lively man could become cold instantly! You looked as if you were asleep. You were dressed so simply when you were cremated---they hurried to take you away and wrapped you in a thin blanket! Songtao, you are finally freed! You don't have to be followed, bugged, summoned for interrogation, kept in custody illegally, detained, beaten and cursed, or reeducated through forced labor any longer. You finally have your real freedom! But how I long for you to be here!"

I heard that Yunhe was abducted to Female Cell 208 of Qingdao City Dashan Detention Center in February of 2002. But we have not verified this information. When my father went to look for her, the answer, as always, is, "No such person." I have called so many times from Canada to this Detention Center. The answers were either "Wrong number" or "Zhang Yunhe is against the Party and Socialism." Sometimes police hung up the phone without answers. Once a person told me, "Don't call any more, don't waste your money." Another person disappeared from my family, without a sound.

We all have parents and siblings, we all have family and children. My family's story is only one in thousands and millions of families. In today's China, no one knows how many families are broken apart unjustly, only because they believe in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

I am here stepping forward to expose the genocide conducted by Jiang and his regime, and I want Rongrong to feel her mother's love. I ask all kind hearted people help rescue my sister Zhang Yunhe. I firmly believe that when more and more people know the truth, the sunlight will break through the dark clouds.
