Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Dawei was born on September 17, 1973 and resided in Yuanzigou Village, Yingemen Town, Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province.

In 2001, he was illegally sentenced to eight years of prison for preparing truth-clarification materials in Shenyang. Currently, he is illegally detained at the Life and Health Section of the No.1 Lingyuan Jail.

In prison, Xu Dawei always maintained righteous thoughts and never cooperated with any evil orders, which really frightened the evil forces. In June 2002, Mr. Xu hung up truth-clarification banners in the prison, thereby strongly suffocating the evil forces. After that, he was tortured several times with electric batons by police Team Leaders Liu and Guo at the No.5 Production Surveillance Team.

He was handcuffed with his two hands up in front of his chest for ten days, and then his hands were handcuffed behind his back for another ten days. Such cruel torture brought this young man close to death. He was originally very healthy, but now suffers from pleurisy [a painful infection of the lung's diaphragm] and hydroencephalitis [a condition of water and swelling on the brain].

Xu Dawei's mother had gone to visit him, leaving him 400Yuan by handing it to a policeman named Wang Shuchen [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary of an urban worker]. Wang Shuchen only gave Xu Dawei some fruit and some simple living necessities, and kept the money for himself. However, several days later he felt that he might be found out, so he forced Xu Dawei to write a letter to his family saying that he had received the 400Yuan. It was reported that Wang Shuchen often stole money from others.

Meanwhile, practitioners Mr. Zhang Baogui (from Hubei province, arrested at Yingkou) and Mr. Ma Fuyue (from Shenyang) are currently jailed at the No. 1 Lingyuan Jail. They are often tortured, cursed and beaten by the common prisoners.
