Solemn DeclarationsOn the evening of January 7, 2002, I was taken away by five policemen and held in the local police station for two days before being moved to a detention center. During my detention, I was asked to disclose information about my fellow practitioners, and I refused to do it. As a result, I was jailed for four months. Then I was sent to a forced labor camp for a year and a half. When I was at the forced labor camp, two inmates watched me around the clock; they did not allow me to sleep. I had to stand by the window and recite the rules and regulations of the camp. After several nights of torture, my legs were swollen and my back was hurting. On the afternoon of May 15, three collaborators* tried to brainwash me. They also tried to force me to write a "Dissociation Statement."** If I refused, I would be deprived of sleep again. I had already been deprived of sleep, my mind was not clear, and I just could not endure the torture any longer. I did something I should not have done. I wrote the so-called "Dissociation Statement." They then started brainwashing me, making me read and watch defamatory materials, videotapes, CDs, and write what I think about them. I was forced to defame Master Li and Falun Dafa. The more we defamed, the more thorough the brainwashing was considered to be. The third step was to use commuted sentences to trap us. Practitioners were forced to be brainwashed, otherwise they would be subjected to beatings. Every day, screams of pain were heard from practitioners. Witnessing the bruises and cuts on the faces of my fellow practitioners and enduring dozen of hours a day of hard labor, I could not stand it anymore. A day felt like a year. I hereby solemnly declare that what I said and wrote that is unfitting of a Falun Dafa practitioner is null and void. I will cultivate myself firmly and redouble my efforts to make up for the loss I inflicted on Falun Dafa.

Solemn Declaration

The police ransacked my home in August 2002. The police took away all my Falun Dafa books. I was taken to a brainwashing center twice and did something that was unfit of a Falun Dafa practitioner. I gave out information about fellow practitioners and wrote the "Three Statements"*

á

Although I was reluctant to do it, it was betrayal and insult to Falun Dafa. After I returned home, I was so ashamed of myself that I could not bring myself to meet with other practitioners. Thanks to the benevolence of Master Li and the help of my fellow practitioners, I learned a lot from these painful lessons. I did not read the Fa at a rational level; I only read at a perceptual level. I treated studying the Fa as accomplishing a task. I did not use the Fa to break through my attachments and the lies of the evil. I did not use the Fa to strengthen my righteous thoughts. This is all because I did not study the Fa well.

I now solemnly declare that my signature on the Three Statements and all else I did that was unfitting of Falun Dafa is null and void. I have to follow Master Li steadfastly and diligently, always keeping my mind clear, do the three things well, walk my final steps of cultivation firmly, and become a fit practitioner to make up for the loss I brought to Falun Dafa.

* The "Three Statements" - Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.
