On Sunday, March 2, four Dafa practitioners from the city of Fremont, in Northern California, visited a farmer's market in San Jose to collect signatures for the rescue of U.S. Falun Gong practitioner Charles Li, who was illegally arrested and detained by officials from the Chinese government.

Not long after the practitioners arrived at the farmer's market, police and management personnel at the market took notice of them, walked over and asked what they were doing. After learning the facts of Charles Li's situation, they offered the practitioners a large market stall space without charge. They personally led the practitioners to the location, and all signed the petition letter. Upon leaving, they wished the practitioners success with their rescue effort.

The spot was right in the middle of the market, with a huge number of shoppers passing by. The four practitioners together formed a very strong field of righteous thoughts. Many people listened to them speaking about what happened to Charles Li and also about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. The visitors all expressed their indignation after hearing the facts. Visitors learned how the Chinese government not only imposes an autocratic rule on the Chinese people, but also dares to treat U.S. citizens with such cruelty. Some visitors expressed that this was not merely a case concerning Charles Li as an individual, but it also concerns all American citizens. A lot of people said that they had already heard about the case on TV or from newspapers, and they would definitely sign the petition.

Many touching stories were heard that day. A man over 50 years old at a nearby stall not only signed the petition letter himself, but also called his friends over to sign the petition. A Latin American family's parents did not read English. Their 6-or-7 year-old daughter helped to translate. After the parents signed, the little girl asked, "May I please sign my name, too?" After signing the petition, one Westerner said that he would like to learn Falun Gong and left his phone number. In the afternoon, when he saw the practitioners again, he reminded them, "Falun Gong, please don't forget to give me a call!"

At this market we experienced, once again, how unpopular Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is among the people.
