Under the secret orders from the Jiang regime, police in many places intensified the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. In order to create hostility towards practitioners, police threatened to remove practitioners' supervisors and neighbors from their jobs and to withhold their bonuses. Police also forced practitioners to attend brainwashing classes accompanied by their co-workers and family members. Practitioners had to pay for all expenses (about 3,000 Yuan a month, six times the monthly salary of an urban worker). If they did not renounce their belief within a month, the police extended the detention for two months or longer.

Supervised by Wang Yongxiang in the Daqing forced-labor camp, the evil thugs Han Qingshan, Wang Yingzhou and Zhang Mingzhu led the efforts to persecute Dafa practitioners. They ordered two inmates to monitor one practitioner. Practitioners lost all freedom. No communications were allowed among them, and all activities were strictly monitored. Police officer Wang Yingzhou often encouraged inmates to beat and curse practitioners.

Around December of 2001, police brutally beat practitioners Zhuang Gangxiang and Cao Jingdong. The vicious torture caused Cao and Zhuang to lose consciousness once and twice respectively. Zhuang also lost one tooth. After that, both of them often suffered from heart problems and cramps. The practitioner Zuo Guoqing was tortured and force-fed concentrated salt water, which caused his lung to become seriously inflated with fluid. Upon arriving at the camp, practitioner Du Guocong was detained in a small cell, and then cruelly tortured for more than twenty days. Consequently, he had wounds all over his body, and he was not able to straighten his back. This was his third time to be detained unlawfully in the camp. Moreover, Du was forced to perform heavy labor under inmates' close supervision.

Since 2002, police have been brutally torturing innocent practitioners who were newly admitted to the labor camp. Among them, Sui Honghai's upper arm was broken after being tightened with ropes. [Tying the Ropes is a brutal torture method. The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police would use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.]

When practitioners went on hunger strikes to protest police's persecution, the police tied them with ropes to torture them and force-fed them semi-cooked corn starch mixed with highly concentrated salt water, which can cause diarrhea within half an hour and result in serious gastrointestinal disorders. Diarrhea can last from 6 months to one year. Consequently, the practitioner Ge Zhenmin suffered a serious intestinal inflammation.

Supervised by Wang Yongxiang, the second team lead of the First Team -- Wang Yingzhou, who called himself "Evil from hell" -- led Zhao Jinfa, Cai Shuguo, Huo Jian and others to persecute practitioners by all means. The following are a few examples. In winter, they poured cold water on practitioners hundred times or more in addition to blowing cold air on them with fans. They forcefed practitioners feces. And even worse, they placed cotton batting on practitioners' chests before whipping the areas with a rubber clubs in order to avoid wounds appearing on the skin while causing severe internal injuries to practitioners. The Second Team officer Zhang Mingzhu ordered his staff member Yang Chunyu to tie practitioners' hands and feet onto a chair designed for torture purposes, and forced practitioners to sit on the chair with a metal hose placed between their upper legs. This torture forced practitioners to put all their weight onto their tailbones, which caused a lot of pain over time.

Dafa practitioner He Huajiang was detained in the Daqing forced labor camp on December 23, 2002. On that night, police separated him for persecution. He was brutally tortured to death around 12:00 midnight. There was no official inquiry into this murder. Instead, the corpse was transferred and cremated secretly in order to eliminate the evidence of their evil crime.
