Editors' Note: Each time we publish news of this nature, we do so with heavy hearts. These people started off as public servants, but under the intense pressure applied by the Jiang regime, they were pushed into persecuting Dafa disciples. In the process of destroying the lives of kind, law-abiding citizens, they sealed their own fates and inevitably faced karmic retribution as punishment.

On November 12, 1999, the first Falun Gong case in China was tried in Haikou City, Hainan Province, and Chen Yuanchao was the chief justice. He sentenced four Falun Gong practitioners to jail terms ranging from 2 years to 12 years. He was praised by the supreme people's court and Luo Gan, the Communist Party's Chief in charge of legislation and political affairs. As a result, the First Criminal Court of Haikou City, Intermediate People's Court, received a group award-second class and Chen Yuanchao received an individual award-second class.

On March 18, 2002, Chen Yuanchao, age 52, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Chen Yuanchao could not get out of bed, but Luo Gan issued orders to promote his story as the first judge to try Falun Gong practitioners in China. The report and speech were given in Haikou City. The People's Supreme Court awarded Chen the honor of "National Model Judge." The Supreme Court of Hainan Province gave Chen the "Individual First Class Award." The Haikou City Communist Party Committee awarded Chen the honor of "Model Communist Party Member."

According to an official Chinese government media report: "Chen Yuanchao, a National Model Judge and the Chief Judge of the First Criminal Court of Haikou City, Intermediate People's Court, went through treatment for lung cancer and unfortunately died at 6:35 p.m. on September 2, 2003."
