Persecution Suffered by Practitioner Ms. Zhang Hong of Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province Before Her Death

July 23, 2006 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Heilongjiang province

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Hong, age 25, resident of Heitai district, Mishan city, Heilongjiang province, started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. On July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong, but was stopped on her way in Jidong by police from Heitai and was sent back.

On June 28, 2000, Political and Legal Secretary Wang Zhongjie, policeman Shi, and Du Yongshan of the Security Service arrested her for practicing Falun. She was illegally detained in Mishan city's First Detention Center for 72 days.

During her detention, Zhang Hong was tortured by the prison's doctor Qin (female) who hit her over the head with a police baton. It caused her to vomit blood, and she was seriously injured. After Ms. Zhang was released, Wang Zhongjie and the police constantly harassed her at home. They would visit her home in the middle of the night, pounding on the door and forcing their way in. They refused to leave until they saw her sleeping.

The constant harassment scared Zhang Hong's family members, and she was becoming weak and thin. She was forced to leave her parents and went to work in Dalian City.

But even then she wasn't left alone. Her parents were forced into revealing where Zhang worked and her contact information.

In December 2003, Zhang Hong was again taken to a brainwashing center to be persecuted and during detention, vomited large amounts of blood. To avoid being held responsible should anything happen to her, the officials of Heitai district forced her family into paying 200 Yuan and released her after 4 days.

Zhang Hong's physical and mental health deteriorated from the constant harassment and detention, and she died on February 2, 2004 from a relapse of tuberculosis. She was only 25 years old.
