(Clearwisdom.net) Barbara Boxer, a U.S. Senator from the State of California, has been a strong voice in support of human rights, and has been recognized as a champion of human rights by several human rights organizations. She learned about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners from a California citizen’s letter. In the reply, she condemned the CCP’s brutality and said that she is willing to help stop the persecution.

In the reply on June 7, Senator Boxer said: "Thank you for contacting me regarding China’s treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

"I share your concern regarding recently released reports of a secretive camp for Falun Gong adherents in northeastern China. Horrific abuses are reported to occur at this camp—including the "harvesting" of organs from captive Falun Gong practitioners. The United Nations special rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of punishment, Manfred Nowak, is currently investigating these allegations, and has started that be will submit them to the attention of the Chinese government if the investigation merits a serious and well-founded allegation.

"As you many know, I have expressed serious concerns to Chinese leaders over the arrests of Falun Gong adherents and have supported legislation calling for an end to the harassment, detention, and abuse of Chinese prisoners of conscience. As a leading advocate of international human rights, I will continue to fight for legislation protecting freedom of thought, conscience, and religion."
