Ms. Gao Xiuqin Dies after Being Tortured in Jinan City First Women's Prison (Shandong Province)

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Gao Xiuqin lived in the Zichuan District of Zibo City, Shandong Province. She died at 4:00 p.m. on April 1, 2007. She had been detained in the Fourth Ward of Jinan City First Women's Prison since October 2002. Her mother-in-law was very worried, and died on December 5, 2002, shortly after hearing that Ms. Gao had been arrested. Ms. Gao had late-stage breast cancer when she was released in February 2006.

Ms. Gao was forced to labor in a sewing assembly line, which was located in a basement, where the environment was very humid. Ms. Gao's arthritis healed after practicing Falun Gong, but it recurred during her forced labor term. They were forced to labor from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00-2:00 a.m. the next morning. If they worked until midnight, that was considered an early rest. They were not allowed to rest except when they ate meals or used the bathroom. Ms. Gao was "excused" from work at 10:00 p.m. every day due to her physical condition. There were ten inmates in her cell, and she was the only Falun Dafa practitioner. The guards assigned two prisoners to closely monitor her. If anything happened that did not please the guards, those two prisoners would have their "merit points" reduced.

Half of Ms. Gao's body was in extreme pain during a period in 2005, and she could not move. When she was released in February 2006, she was very weak, and it was discovered that she had late-stage breast cancer. She was hospitalized on March 6, had an operation on March 7, and died on April 1, 2007.

Below are persecution facts of some other Falun Dafa practitioners detained in Jinan City First Women's Prison.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Du Jiqun, 47, is from Weifang City. She was tortured in the Fourth Ward as well, and had internal bleeding in her upper intestine and stomach. Nevertheless, Ward Head Xu (first name unknown) still forced her to do labor. She passed out.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Xizhi, in her fifties, is from Yantai City. She was also detained in the Fourth Ward. Because she refused to accept the brainwashing, she was locked in solitary confinement and forced to sleep on the cement floor. She was closely watched by two prisoners, who were encouraged by guards to beat her.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Chen Xiuling, in her forties, and from Shouguang City, was sentenced to a nine-year term. She was detained in the Second Ward. Because she resisted the persecution and refused to wear a prisoner's uniform or use a prisoner's plate, she was tortured for approximately two weeks by being locked in solitary confinement without any clothes to wear. She was monitored with a camera.
