LAS VEGAS--The largest and most breathtaking celebration of Chinese New Year in the world came to Las Vegas Jan. 21, for one show only, at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, and was met by enthusiastic crowds -- the Chinese New Year Spectacular.

Sandra Clark, a nurse from Los Angeles, drove all the way with her mother and aunt just to see the show.

"I'd like to come back again to take my children." Her three words to describe the show, "Spectacular. Fun. Great."

Anna Kaplan, originally from Croatia, now lives in Indian Wells, N.V., enjoyed the show. "Very nice. Colorful, beautiful music," she said. "The movements were well coordinated and well choreographed."

Jennifer Rice from Boulder City was also impressed. "The orchestra and costumes are so beautiful," she said. "I'd like to have my granddaughters, [ages] 3 and 6, see the show. They'd love to see the costumes and the plays."

The Spectacular is heading north to San Francisco's Orpheum Theater for its next stop, where it will be performing seven shows from Jan. 23-26.

The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular shows will continue in Detroit at the Detroit Opera House on Jan. 22, Northrop Memorial Auditorium in Minneapolis on Jan. 24, Arie Crown Theater in Chicago Jan.25-26.
