A Middle School Student's Awakening

October 31, 2008 |

(Clearwisdom.net) A middle-school student asked me to help him with his studies. My first impression was that he was part of a wealthy family and spoiled by his parents. (His parents are the presidents of a hospital). He was a student who had been seriously contaminated by society. He spoke rudely to people - even to me, as I helped him with his schoolwork. When I went to his home for the second time, he told me that he didn't eat onions, ginger, or garlic. I thought that this was really a good topic to begin with for "clarifying the truth." I said half-jokingly, "Maybe you are a disciple of Sakyamuni." He showed great interest after he heard about this. I took the opportunity to share with him some of the stories that Teacher has told us, as well as the cultivation stories from the truth-clarification flyers. As I told him more stories, he showed stronger interest. Finally, I told him the truth about Falun Gong. When he heard me mention Falun Gong, he reacted negatively and even appeared a bit angry.

His mother called me later and asked me not to talk with her children about anything other than their studies. I looked within to see if I had not done well in some respect. I thought, "It's because the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and schoolteachers seriously poison children's minds. Regardless, I will send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil which is preventing this family from learning the truth about Falun Gong." After a period of time, the child called and asked me to continue helping him with his studies. I thought, "It's another chance that Teacher gave me. I will definitely do well this time." After working with him for some time, I gradually talked with him about the principle of being a good person, the meaning of being good and kind and the nature of wrong and evil. I also told him in a very impartial tone about the things described in the Buddhist scriptures on Dafa and the prophecies mentioned in the Bible about eliminating the mark of the beast.

After a long period of time, he demonstrated some changes. Then he agreed to quit the CCP and accepted a Falun Gong amulet (1). Later, he came to my home and I played a truth-clarifying DVD for him. He wept continuously while watching Chapter 7 of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He said that the CCP was so cruel for killing so many Chinese people.

He then became very excited and said to me, "Teacher, thank you. If it were not for your help, I would never know about these truths. From now on, I will also save people. I will become a good person in accordance with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I will quit smoking and drinking, and I will never curse." He took the DVDs with him when he left. He showed a truth-clarification DVD to his grandfather, and then his grandparents agreed to quit the CCP. He showed the DVD of the New Year Gala to his mother, and then she agreed to quit the CCP. He gave Falun Gong amulets to his classmates, and five or six of them agreed to quit the CCP. He gave the DVD of the Nine Commentaries to his classmates so they could watch it with their families. Whenever his relatives came to his home, he told them the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution.

The child told me that his relatives always joked with him when they came for family visits, saying, "Kid, what new instruction do you have for us today?" His father later feared that his son's actions would cause trouble, and so he forbid him from contacting me. After a period of time, the child came to me joyfully, "Teacher, my mother asked me to come. She knows that you are a good person. She went overseas and learned about Dafa there. But my dad doesn't allow me to come here, but my mother allowed me to come. My dad doesn't know that I came."

How precious an awakened life is! I thank Teacher for His merciful saving and giving me such a wonderful opportunity.

(1) Amulets -- In China, practitioners sometimes clarify the truth by giving people something small to wear or cherish, bearing a few words reminding them of the goodness of Dafa.
