(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Saundra Colon, an English professor from the Queens Campus of St. John's University, and over thirty students came to Radio City Music Hall in New York City to watch Divine Performing Arts' Chinese New Year Splendor. She hoped to understand more about the cultural background of China.

Ms. Saundra Colon, an English teacher from St. John's University, and her colleague found this performance to be very educational

As a teacher, Ms. Colon thought that this performance was very educational, especially for Asian students. She indicated that people from other cultural backgrounds should also learn more about Chinese culture and its ancient history. Many of her students are not familiar with Chinese culture, while some of her Chinese students may know a little. She thought that this show was an opportunity for the younger generation of Chinese in the US to connect with Chinese culture, and it also allows others to broaden their understanding of another culture.

The dance, "The Risen Lotus Flower," which described the story of three female Falun Gong practitioners detained in a Chinese prison, made a deep impression on Ms. Colon. She felt that the scene of the female practitioner's rising to Heaven after her death due to torture was very beautiful. She said that she could completely understand the story behind the dance because she had read relevant reports in the newspaper about the persecution of freedom of belief in China.

Professor Colon praised the arrangements, the colorfulness, the accuracy of the dancers' movements, the stage and backdrop designs - the whole performance. She said that watching the performance was a very beautiful, visual experience.
