Suffering with disease for over thirty years

Mr. Cao started practicing Falun Gong in July 1999. Before that, he suffered from various diseases such that his life hung in the balance. When he came back from the army in 1966, he had stomach and intestinal problems. Although only in his 20s, he often had to go to the hospital and relied on medicine to relieve the symptoms. From 1993 on, he became paler and paler. He was often fatigued and lost weight. After having an ultrasound, he was diagnosed with hardening of the liver and liver stones. He subsequently suffered depression and insomnia. This situation lasted for six or seven years.

Poor health plus the fact that he was addicted to smoking and drinking, combined to make him very agitated. He was also a perfectionist and became more short-tempered and often had conflicts with his family and colleagues. All this resulted in insomnia. He could only sleep with the aid of pills. He weighed only about 120 pounds. Many years later, he developed duodenal and gastric ulcers and depression. His liver diseases were the most serious of his physical problems. The doctor told him that he would die without a liver transplant. Every time he went to the hospital with the card issued by the health bureau stating that he was in critical condition, he was truly desperate. He suffered from all these diseases for 13 years. It was truly "bearing too many sufferings; how can I ask heaven why?" He even thought of committing suicide.

Fortunately obtaining Dafa in his retirement

In June 1999, Mr. Cao's company had a personnel turnover. Since he had served 29 years with the company he requested early retirement. He wanted to see if qigong could cure his diseases in his spare time. He spent two years and thousands of dollars learning a Zen qigong with not much success.

On the morning of July 1, 1999, he went to Fuhe Sports Park and was attracted by some peaceful music. He went to where he saw people doing gentle exercises and was introduced to Falun Dafa. After hearing that Falun Dafa is a method of qigong cultivation, he learned the exercises right away. When he got home, he read the book Zhuan Falun. He felt warm and realized, "This is exactly what I was looking for!"

After reading the nine lectures in Zhuan Falun, Mr. Cao understood some of the principles. He quit smoking and drinking, something which he had not succeeded in doing for the past 20 plus years. He concentrated on studying the Fa and practicing the exercises. He felt as if he had found some immense treasure, and he came to new insights every day. He was so excited that he forgot about his diseases. Three months later, after he had some cold and spicy food, he realized that he not longer had stomach problems. One year later, his duodenal and stomach ulcers and liver stones were gone. Without even being aware of it, all of his diseases were cured. He no longer needs to rely on pills to sleep. The wonders of Dafa have manifested in him.

Mr. Cao is very grateful to Teacher for giving him a second life. Now he is very healthy and strong. His weight reached 140. Being very energetic and happy, his family life also became harmonious. It is truly an example of, "When one person practices Falun Gong, the whole family benefits." Seeing his changes, his neighbors were all amazed.

In 2006, Mr. Cao was recognized as an "Outstanding Father." Picture was taken with the mayor of Yonghe city.

In 2007, he was recognized as a "Model Father"

Grateful for Dafa and actively promoting Dafa to people

Mr. Cao said that after experiencing the wonder and magnificence of Dafa, he thought it was very important to clarify the truth to people about Falun Gong being persecuted in China. Therefore he joined several senior practitioners and learned how to post in on-line forums. They then went to share their experiences with practitioners in Taizhong, Xinzhu, Pingdong and encouraged them to clarify the truth on-line.

He also attended Fa conferences held in different places including Singapore, Washington DC, New York, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Indonesia. He participated in parades celebrating people withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), distributed flyers, joined anti-torture exhibits, and the "Great Wall of Courage." When people accepted truth clarification materials from him, he was very happy. Mr. Cao also went to different famous tourist sites in Hong Kong to clarify the truth to Chinese tourists. He said that there were many Chinese tourists there and that more and more people were willing to take the materials. Some of the tour guides even helped or encouraged people to take them.

Compassion moved Hong Kong police; eventually becoming good friends

One time he was clarifying the truth at the Luo Ma Zhou tourist site in Hong Kong. The first day police did not interfere. But on the second day, the police stopped him. Mr. Cao clarified the truth to them. The police asked him, "How much did they pay you? How much can you earn in one day?" Mr. Cao replied sincerely, "We are all volunteers. No one hired us. We spent so much to travel here just so that people could find out the facts about Falun Gong and the fact that the persecution is still ongoing. We don't want people to be deceived. Kindness will be repaid with kindness and evil will be repaid with evil. Please don't stop us." He then told them about the truth of the Tiananmen self-immolation incident and live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. After hearing the facts, the police finally changed their attitude. Although they did not accept materials on duty according to regulations, they said that they would come back for the materials when they were off-duty.

For the next several days, the police would purposely stay farther away or go into the bus station. Occasionally they would glance at him, but with respect and encouragement. Several months later, when Mr. Cao once again came to the Huang Daxian tourist site in Hong Kong, a young policeman listened to him clarifying the truth. They eventually became friends, and Mr. Cao was happy that one more kind person knows the truth.
