Over the last couple of months, shows displaying Chinese traditional culture received great attention in New York and other places in the USA. Regardless of race or nationality, showgoers expressed that this was a gorgeous, tranquil, bright performance. The compassion and kindness that the programs conveyed touched people's hearts.

The audience truly loved the hosts. One of the hosts was born in the USA and has lived in Israel. He speaks fluent English, Hebrew and Chinese.

Leeshai Lemish, a host of the Spectacular

"My Chinese name is Lin Lishan. Lin stands for forest, Li stands for principle, and Shan of the Zhen, Shan, Ren."

Leeshai Lemish is interviewed by media in Charlotte

At the Holiday Wonders show, Santa Claus was said to have given him the ability to speak Chinese

Leeshai said, "I began to practice Falun Gong in 2001 before I went to university, I studied at a California university and started to learn Chinese. I did not know at that time that I would study for so long, just wanted to have a try. But Chinese was my favorite subject. I really love this language. It is deep and rich. I have studied it for six years now. I learn traditional Chinese characters as I do not like the simplified characters [introduced to Mainland China by the Chinese Communist Party]. The meaning of simplified characters can't be compared to traditional characters. If I had not practiced Falun Gong, I would not be so interested in Chinese culture like I am now, and I wouldn't have so much understanding of it. Chinese traditional culture is the real authentic culture of humankind. The arts, music, the principles in some of its novels are very righteous, very pure, and also very beautiful."

Like many other Falun Gong practitioners, Leeshai came across Falun Gong at an outdoor practice site. When he went to a park in Tel-Aviv to watch a Tai Chi performance, he met Falun Gong practitioners.

"There was a table on the side, introducing Falun Gong, I went to check it out. Surprisingly, before I asked my question, the practitioner answered me. Probably lots of people have asked him the same questions, so he knew what I wanted to ask. But at that time, I really felt he knew well what I was thinking. I practiced exercises with them, and bought the book, Zhuan Falun."

Leeshai later had the opportunity to watch Mr. Li Hongzhi's lectures in Guangzhou on video, Lishan said: "I thought, this is good, this practice is really good, possibly what I am looking for, but I felt the requirements were too high, that I could not make it."

On one occasion, he thought about "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance", and truly decided to begin practicing Falun Gong.

"In early 2001, in California, one day I had a conflict with my father. The conflict was intense. We got angry and scolded each other. Suddenly I thought, take a rest. I went back to my room and said to myself, 'I should read the Falun Gong book now.' The book says we should use 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance' to guide ourselves, and look inwards during conflicts. So I looked within and noticed that I probably had achieved truthfulness, but it was not compassion, not to mention forbearance. Then I put these three words into my heart, as a test to see what would happen. I left my room as if the conflict was also gone, as that thought was changed, there was no conflict. At that time I thought, this Falun Gong is really great, very good, so I shall begin to practice. Then I found a local Falun Gong practitioner and practiced with him."

Leeshai later used every opportunity to tell people the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. "No matter where we are, we should do the same thing, to let people of the whole world know this persecution, know that Falun Gong practitioners in China are facing a terrible situation. Often some Chinese came and asked me who is giving me money? I tell them, "Nobody. I can show you my bank account. I almost have no money," but they do not believe it, and wonder how come a westerner does this thing. I tell them I feel it is most important to stop this persecution, make it end quickly, because Falun Gong practitioners face brutal persecution. I too was arrested and beaten in Beijing. They don't dare to torture a foreigner severely, but I know the situation there. In Beijing, I looked into the eyes of the police, I knew that if I were not a westerner, he would have killed me. His eyes were like that. "If you were not a westerner, I would kill you right now." It was horrible."

As a host of the Spectacular, he said he doesn't tire of the performance. "I feel very honored to be able to watch this (Divine Performing Arts) performance. Divine Performing Arts had over 90 shows last year, plus rehearsals. There were over one hundred shows, however every time I still burst into tears."

"I try my best to let go of my own thoughts on stage, and truly be unselfish; to simply perform for the audience. If my heart can reach this status, the audience would be very moved. ... I think as a host, on one hand we connect programs, on the other hand we share with the audience, speak to them, ask them questions and communicate with them. If I just stand there, and think how great I am, and am here to tell you something, that is meaningless, and may even play a negative role. However, if I can let go of myself, this is for others, for their benefit, for them to enjoy the show even more, understand the contents of the programs more, and the implication of what we are doing, that is the best, I think."

Many performers of the Divine Performing Arts also mentioned that while performing, they only think about the audience, hoping to bring them a purely truthful, compassionate, and beautiful performance. If you have the chance to watch a Divine Performing Arts show, make sure you do not miss it.
