Sydney, Australia: It Made Me Feel Very Proud to Be Chinese

April 12, 2008 |   By Minghui/Clearwisdom reporter Chen Zhenghong

(Clearwisdom.net) Among the spectators at the Divine Performing Arts final Chinese Spectacular at Sydney's Entertainment Center on April 5, 2008, were many local Chinese, both those who had come to Australia from Mainland China to visit relatives and new immigrants. They were very appreciative of the presentations of traditional Chinese culture and commented that the exquisite and elegant performance captures the true essence and beauty of Chinese culture.

Ms. Xu from Harbin, who immigrated to Australia, was deeply impressed. She said she would definitely come to see the show next year. "It is very, very good, very touching. The show presented 5,000 years of Chinese culture and history. The backdrops were particularly wondrous. It's the first time I have ever seen such a wonderful performance. I hope to come next year."

Ms. Li appreciated the pure beauty of the Spectacular, saying, "I liked everything. It was all great, so reflective of the Chinese. It made me feel very proud to be Chinese. It brought us back to an impression of pure beauty, a traditional beauty."

Industrial Engineer from China: As if the performers and the audience were one

Mr. Zhou, an engineer involved in military industrial technology in Shanghai, traveled to Australia to visit relatives ten months ago. He praised the Chinese Spectacular, saying, "Very good, genuine Chinese classical culture. It is a combination of exquisite, classical dances and music deriving from 5,000 years of culture. I felt comfortable during the performances, and my mind was at ease. I thought it was different from common performances."

Mr. Zhou was extremely impressed by the heavenly scene. He thought that projections on the rear screen looked very natural. He also felt as if the performers and the audience were blended as one body.

Older Chinese: I have never seen a show as wonderful as this in China

Mr. Ting Ping from Shanghai has lived in Australia for nearly 20 years. He could barely restrain his joy and enthusiasm over the Spectacular. "The performance was very good--it portrayed true Chinese culture. I have never seen a performance like this before in China."

Mr. Ting liked every performance, He thought the performances like the ones about Falun Gong were particularly good. He said although the show was two and a half hours long, he still wanted it to continue. He said he was looking forward to seeing the Divine Performing Arts next year. He will definitely come again.

Software engineer: The Chinese Spectacular fills in that forgotten period in history

Software engineer Mr. Zhao and his wife immigrated to Australia nearly five years ago. They attended the final show of the Chinese Spectacular in Sydney. Mr. Zhao said that he had not read about the history [presented in the show] in textbooks, but he had seen some small references to it in Beijing operas. Mr. Zhao continued by saying, "The performance was very beautiful. I felt very relaxed today. It was particularly beautiful, reminding me of Chinese history in ancient times."

Mr. Zhao's wife, Ms. Zhang, said, "I was very impressed. I thought the costumes were beautiful. That was my first impression. The color arrangement was very good; it had a good visual effect."
