(Clearwisdom.net) I invited two Falun Dafa practitioners and some twenty other people to a place within ten kilmeters of the town of Baishuihe to go sightseeing on May 12, 2008. We practitioners intended to use the opportunity to clarify the truth to our friends.
We reached our destination at 11a.m., only to learn that the "Happy Farm Stay" we had booked was unable to receive us because the local government had decided to expropriate the land. The boss was indignant about the 500 yuan per square meter pay out as it was not even enough to buy furniture. He introduced us to another "Happy Farm Stay" one kilometer away.
We moved to the new place without thinking too much. After lunch, we decided to rest first, then leave together at 2p.m. The three of us who practice Falun Gong stayed in a room on the third floor so we could study the Fa and do the exercises together. After we had rested for about twenty minutes, we felt a strong shake. My first thought was that it was an earthquake. The three of us jumped off the bed straight away.
Feeling the earth violently shake and hearing the huge cracking sound, I found it hard to keep my balance, and my body kept bouncing on the ground. We were neither frightened nor did we panic. We called out "Falun Dafa Hao, Zhen-Shan-Ren Hao", firmly believing that Master would protect us. About ten seconds later, the shakes eased. At that moment I said, "Run quickly!"
On the way downstairs, we saw the corridor and the stairs covered with broken glass, cement and dust. Reaching the yard, we realized that the kitchen and shed had collapsed. Only the building where we were staying remained standing. People in the yard were in great panic and didn't know what to do. We calmed them down by saying, "Don't worry, as long as you recite 'Falun Dafa Hao, Zhen-Shan-Ren Hao,' Teacher Li will protect us." Gradually, everyone calmed down. One lady who didn't want to listen to me before when I clarified the facts to her, told me later that she also recited in her heart "Falun Dafa Hao".
After things became normal, we went upstairs to get our belongings. The others gradually also went to get their things. On the second floor, the drywall from the ceiling of a room had cracked and was lying on top of the bed. On the ground, a big piece of ceiling landed on top of one of our companion's luggage. We couldn't get the luggage out. The rest of us didn't suffer any loss. A friend staying on the first floor had his arm slightly cut by a falling TV set. There were two others whose backs and wrists were lightly wounded. Nothing was broken in the room on the third floor where we stayed except two boards which had falled from the wall. The owner's back and legs were lightly wounded. She said that the fifteen tons of steel that she had used to fix the building had prevented it from collapsing. I rang her the next afternoon after I returned home. She told me that rescue personnel had directed them to gather at a school. Her building collapsed in the end after we left.
Immediately after the earthquake, everybody started moving away from the area. Everywhere there were terrible scenes too tragic to look at. On the way, we saw the roads cracked open and landslides everywhere. Many cars and motorbikes were smashed, and dead bodies littered the side of the road. The wounded were being carried out of the area. Close to 1000f the houses had collapsed or were clearly in ruins, in danger of collapse at any second. Obviously they could no longer be lived in. Livestock was running loose everywhere. Survivors sat and stood along the road, looking at their homes without knowing what to do.
We had been about thirty kilometers from the epicentre of the earthquake. The place we stayed was classified as within the area most heavily damaged, the meizoseismal area, but all twenty of us were safe and sound.
After I returned home, I found out that my relatives at Shenfa and their house were all well. They had all quit the CCP. The home of one of my friends in Qingchengshan was also undamaged. A mother and daughter (practitioners) in Dujiangyan were also safe. The house of a man who knows the truth of Falun Dafa and lives across the road from the Juyuan Middle School (one of the schools which had the highest death toll and most wounded students) didn't collapse, although it was no longer safe to inhabit. None of his family members were hurt. There was another family of a Falun Dafa disciple in Dujianyan. The lady works in a kindergarten and her child also goes to that kindergarten. Both her home and the kindergarten didn't collapse and no one was hurt either. All the houses around the area had either collapsed or were seriously damaged. My family were also worried about me when the earthquake happened, but my daughter told her friend, "My mother would be the last person that I worry about." Though she is not a practitioner yet, she firmly believes that a practitioner has Master's protection.
In ancient times, people around the world regarded natural disasters as warnings from the heavens. When disasters struck, the emperor or the king would examine their behaviors to find the mistakes they made.
In recent years there have been many disasters happening around the world, especially in China. We have had sandstorms, SARS, the bird flu, mining disasters, blizzards in the south of China, hand and foot disease, and now a devastating earthquake; one disaster after another. Shouldn't we examine ourselves? The Chinese Communist Party not only fails to conduct any self-examination, it also uses the earthquake as an excuse to intensify its persecution of Falun Dafa disciples; kindhearted people who believe in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
