Taiwan: Civil Groups Protest Persecution of Falun Gong in Taoyuan (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) The Human Rights Torch Relay (HRTR), initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG), arrived at Hsianmin Square in front of Taiwan's Taoyuan County government building on June 14, 2008. Guests participating in the ceremony included county councilors Huang Chih-Ming and Huang Wan-Ru, Chief of Kuomintang County Office Fu Chung-Hsiung, Taoyuan County Civil Affairs Department personnel Chung Chao-lian and Chen Chia-Tsung, President of the Taoyuan Women's Industry & Commerce Association Li Mei-Chi, and President of Taoyuan City Women's Association Fu Jing-fang. Many guests spoke about China's human rights at the ceremony.

President of Taoyuan Women's Association: Can't Believe it

Fu Jin-Fang, President of the Taoyuan Women's Association, learned about the persecution from newspapers and has friends who are Falun Gong practitioners. "Falun Gong is not involved in politics nor a danger to society. People are born with the right of belief. I can't understand why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) feels it must suppress Falun Gong," said Fu.

President of Taoyuan Women's Industry& Commerce Association: Falun Gong contributes to society

Li Mei-Chi, president of the Women's Industry & Commerce Association, has been to many places in China. She knows there was not much respect for human rights in China and she wasn't able to speak very freely when she was there. Li said, "I don't think the media should slander Falun Gong. They have contributed good values to society."

Former President of Rotary Club of Taoyuan Lily: Removing organs from living Falun Gong practitioners is extreme cruelty

Chung Pei-Chan, former president of the Rotary Club of Taoyuan Lily, said there are strict rules regarding organ donations in Taiwan, but it seemed that this is not the case in China. She couldn't believe the extent of the cruelty when she heard that the CCP removes organs from living practitioners and cremates their bodies. She also feels that because of this, it is immoral to go to China to have organ transplants.

Li Yu-Chi, president of the Lion's Club International, said it was unacceptable that the CCP suppresses Falun Gong.

Captain of Citizen's Squad of Taoyuan County Police Bureau: Everyone should fight for human rights

Li Mei-He, captain of the Citizen's Squad of Taoyuan County Police Bureau, always wanted to be a policewoman. Now she has joined the citizen's squad to help protect her society. She has two friends who practice Falun Gong, whom she mentioned, "I have known them since we were kids. After they started practicing Falun Gong, I could feel that their temperament became gentler and they were kinder, unlike me, who am so impulsive."
