(Clearwisdom.net) It was around 6:15 p.m. when I decided to finish a small task, which was to attach a lamp to the wall above my bed. First, I tried to use nails, so I took one and started hammering it into the wall. After I hit it a few times, I gave up, realizing that I would need to use a drill and attach the lamp with screws and dowels.

Suddenly, I heard knocking on the door. "Oh, maybe I forgot my keys in the lock so my neighbor wants to alert me," I supposed. But when I opened the door, an old lady from the flat next to mine was standing there, looking very upset. "Hey you," she started angrily, "How dare you bang on my wall!" This was a little bit surprising, since my neighbor is usually very polite to our family and we enjoy a good relationship.

But as I was studying Falun Dafa that day, I immediately remembered that I should stay calm no matter what. I thought that maybe she was sleeping at the time and I had woken her up, so she'd gotten in a bad mood because of that. But she continued, "I am paying my rent regularly and my hearing is impaired, so I have a right to watch TV however I want. You should not bang on my wall!" I still didn't exactly know what was on her mind, and now I was thinking that maybe she was watching her favorite TV show and my hammering had disturbed her. So I said amicably, "Okay, I am sorry, I will stop now, so how about if I attach my lamp tomorrow morning?"

"What lamp?" she looked at me. Now, we both began to understand what was going on. She mistakenly supposed that I was banging on her wall because I was annoyed by her playing the TV too loud! As a result, she felt offended (while in reality, I didn't hear her TV at all). She started to apologize and I saw that she was quite embarrassed. But I just smiled at her and said that I was not bothered and that I didn't take it to heart at all.

After this incident, I got a better understanding of several Fa principles:

1. Every conflict can be resolved by following the Fa, as stated in Zhuan Falun:

"If your mind is always that peaceful and compassionate, when problems suddenly come up, you'll usually have a buffer and room to think it over."

It's crucial to stay calm, and eventually everything will be harmoniously resolved.

2. It is inevitable that everyday people are sometimes in a bad mood, are taken away by their emotions or talk irrationally. But that's actually normal and that's the way human society is, so we shouldn't be moved by how people behave, no matter what happens. Moreover, nothing is accidental for a cultivator, and it well might be that Master is talking through that person's mouth to tell us something or test us.

3. Later, I also realized that in the past, sometimes my mind has a similar attachment that the lady was displaying. If someone "banged on the wall" near me, I would start to think, "Why does he do that? Maybe he wants to insult me? Well, it looks like he is against me, and he shouldn't be, so how does he dare? Now I have to fight back..." In reality, that person's action was not directed towards me at all. It was all just a manifestation of my imagination and the attachment to myself.

4. I was surprised by how many Fa principles I had come to understand from such a simple incident. Now I realize more deeply how ingenious Master's tests are and why he asks us to cultivate in ordinary human society. Through a conflict like this, where in reality nothing dangerous happened, Master can directly target our minds and arrange the incident in a way that we can enlighten to many principles, and just by using this method, we can come to a high level understanding of the Fa. In my opinion, the old forces didn't believe such a method could lead to Consummation at high levels, so they supposed that a "real test" is needed and started to persecute Falun Gong. But contrary to their expectations, their brutal methods didn't achieve anything positive, while Master's brilliant methods of xinxing tests can really help us to elevate.
