(Clearwisdom.net) TAICHUNG, Taiwan - On December 22, 2009, the chairman of mainland China's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) Chen Yunlin, met with the chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Chiang Pin-kung, in Taichung. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners gathered peacefully in front of the meeting place to protest and call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
December 22 was the day that a large cold front hit. The practitioners' peacefulness and kindness, despite the cold, impressed the people of Taichung.

Other protesters, passersby, motorists and motorcyclists often called out to show their support for this group of peaceful protesters. "Way to go! Falun Gong!" "Falun Gong, you are extraordinary!"
Mr. Ji, who runs a food store, exclaimed when he saw the practitioners, "Falun Gong! How wonderful!" Mr. Ji heard about the facts of Falun Gong and the persecution when he visited Japan. He said that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) should not have arrested law-abiding morally sound people such as Falun Gong practitioners. "It does not make sense. How can a government behave in such way?" said Mr. Ji.
Ms. Lin, who lives nearby, came to talk with the practitioners holding a banner. The more she talked to the practitioners, the more she wanted to learn about Falun Dafa. She said, "You are indeed different from other groups. You are so quiet, peaceful and orderly. We are concerned about you and we cheer for you!"

A broadcast vehicle drove past where the practitioners were protesting. The host spoke through the microphone, "Falun Dafa is good! Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" "Falun Gong is the hope of the people of Taiwan!"
A Christian writer had learned about Falun Gong but never understood why practitioners protest and work so hard to expose the persecution and the lies and crimes of the CCP. After talking to the practitioners he understood their simple intention - to stop the persecution. He encouraged practitioners to continue in their efforts.
A police officer at the scene said that if every group had the same self-control as Falun Gong, the police would not have to work so hard to maintain order.
