DAEGU, Korea--Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company has enthralled the audience again at the Suseong Artpia in Daegu, the fourth largest city in Korea on the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 31.
DPA's performances showcase China's rich 5,000 year history, through classical Chinese dance and vocal performances. From the first program "The Five Millennia Begin" to the last program "Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope," every scene displays China's authentic traditional Chinese culture.
One of the audience members, Mr. An, former president of Busan Cultural Center and Busan Citizens Hall, said that the show gives mankind courage and hope through its masterly fusion of classic art and modern technology.
Mr. An enjoyed "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution," a program depicting a father who is persecuted to death in China for holding fast to his belief in Falun Gong, a traditional spiritual practice following truthfulness, compassion and forbearance.
Mr. An said that although Falun Gong is persecuted in China, the program showed hope for people.
"When I saw the program's depiction of the Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted, it struck my heart very hard. I hope to see such a show played in Mainland China one day. It will give so much courage and hope to the people who are facing tribulations and difficulties."
Mr. Son, a court civil servant who also enjoyed the matinée, found the show to be a rare opportunity to learn about traditional Chinese culture. Through the two Masters of Ceremony who respectively spoke Korean and Chinese, he thoroughly understood the content of the show.
He said that the "beautiful backgrounds" on the 3-D backdrops left a very deep impression on him.
Not only did he learn about traditional Chinese culture, he, too, discovered the truth regarding the persecution of Falun Gong in China today.
His favorite program was the closing piece, "Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope."
"The wheels spinning in the backdrops in the last program were so magical and they touched me so much that I cannot even describe my feeling with words."
