TAINAN, Taiwan--Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company held its fifth full-house 2009 World Tour show at the Tainan Municipal Cultural Center on February 22. Among the audience was Hsu Tain-tsair, mayor of Tainan City.

Mayor Hsu

Mayor Hsu was not entirely new to DPA. When DPA staged Holiday Wonders in the Beacon Theatre on Broadway in New York City, he attended three years ago in the cold winter. On Sunday, he was thrilled by DPA's new programs.

"DPA's performance level and reputation are so successful because it values peace and human nature. Therefore it becomes even more popular during the economic crisis," he said.

Before Mayor Hsu's arrival in the evening, Su Huanzhi, magistrate of Tainan County (adjacent to Tainan City), Yan Cuncuo, vice-magistrate, and Chou Sianchen, county councilor, took their Sunday break and enjoyed DPA's matinee.

Mr. Chen, administrator of a science park, attended the show with his wife.

"The overall feeling is great. I don't have a word to say for the performers' professional techniques. It is very helpful and creative to promote Chinese culture this way. The plots of the stories combined historical culture, which embed many teachings."
