Whereas: World Falun Dafa Day will be celebrated May 13, 2009; and
Whereas: Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong is an ancient cultivation practice based on the universal principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" promoting the self-improvement of one's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing; and
Whereas: Under the guidance of its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice of Falun Dafa has helped to improve the health, purify the minds, uplift the spirits, and deepen the understanding of its adherents. Falun Dafa is practiced by millions of practitioners in more than seventy countries; and
Whereas: The great compassion and tolerance demonstrated by Falun Dafa practitioners in upholding the principles of their practice under the most severe environment had touched the hearts of people throughout the city, state, nation and world; and
Whereas: Cambridge is one of the earliest cities of benefit in the USA from Falun Dafa. Since its introduction in the Greater Boston area in 1995, free instructions and workshops have been offered in MIT, Harvard and Martin Luther King, Jr. School; now therefore be it
Resolved: That the City Council joins the millions of Falun Dafa practitioners in joyous celebration of the World Falun Dafa Day in the City of Cambridge
Resolved: That the City Council goes on record declaring the week of May 10-16, 2009 as "Falun Dafa Week" in the City of Cambridge.
