In this report, six Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least twenty-six practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Mr. Zhang Qin Arrested for the Sixth Time and on a Hunger Strike

Mr. Zhang Qin, in his fifties, was the general engineer and the Chief of the Quality Check Section of the Shengde Plastic Co., Ltd. in Shanghai. Around 6:00 a.m. on June 5, 2009, officials from the Xuhui District Domestic Security Division, the Xuhui District Police Department and the Xuhui District 610 Office arrested Mr. Zhang Qin on his way to work. The police subsequently ransacked his home and took away his laptop and his father's computer. This is the sixth time that Mr. Zhang has been illegally arrested. Currently, he is being held at the Xuhui District Detention Center, and he is on a hunger strike.

Ms. Wang Lin was arrested at around 11:00 a.m. on August 3, 2009.

1. [Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Hong Huizhu Arrested

Around 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2009, Zhu Jiaming and five other officials from the Zhangzhou City Domestic Security Division stormed into Ms. Hong Huizhu's workplace--the Xiangcheng Hospital of Chinese Medicine in Zhangzhou City--ordered her to the meeting room, where they tried to arrest her. Ms. Hong refused to cooperate. Then officials handcuffed her, took her to a secret room in the Zhangzhou City Domestic Security Division, and interrogated her without respite for four hours. Her husband brought her home after 10:00 p.m. that night. Since then, the police also set a watch on her house.

Ms. Hong has been seriously persecuted before and has been illegally sent to a forced labor camp three times.

On July 27, 2009, Ms. Dong Qingmei from Yi Village, Beikuo Town, Rizhao City, was reported while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in Yang Village. She was later arrested by officials from the Beikuo Town Police Station. She is currently held at the Rizhao City Detention Center.

Around 8:00 a.m. on July 16, 2009, Ms. Zheng Wangying, age 50, from Wuhan City was arrested by Lu Jun from the Economic Development Zone Police Department while she distributing truth-clarifying materials. She was illegally detained for fifteen days. She was later sent to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center. Her relatives have been forbidden from visiting her.

1. [Miyi City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Gong Shunhui and Her Husband, Mr. Yang Chaojiang, Arrested and Home Ransacked

On July 31, 2009, married couple Ms. Gong Shunhui and Mr. Yang Chaojiang and their sister-in-law, Ms. Wang Ziju, who was just visiting them, were all arrested at home. The police ransacked their home and stole their computer and printer. The three were arrested and detained in the Miyi City Domestic Security Division. They were kept handcuffed in the office. They were later sent to the Miyi City Detention Center.

1. [Jiutai City, Jilin Province] Mr. Fan Guangsheng Arrested and Persecuted in Brainwashing Center

Mr. Fan Guangsheng from the Center School in Boni River Town, Jiutai City, was released on June 24, 2009, from the Jiutai City Forced Labor Camp. However, on June 30, 2009, he was arrested and taken to the Xinglong Mountain Brainwashing Center in Changchun City.

1. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Forced Labor and Home Ransacked

Ms. Wang Ying, Ms. Liu Yufen, and Ms. Jiang Congmei from Gudao, Shengli Oil Field, were secretly given one year and nine months of forced labor on July 21, 2009. They are now in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

At noon on June 21, 2009, these three practitioners were reported for distributing truth-clarification materials and were later arrested and taken to the Hekou District Detention Center. The following day, the police ordered three cars out to ransack their homes. The police stole their computers, printers, automobiles, and other personal belongings. They were detained at the Hekou District Detention Center between June 21 to July 21; their relatives have been forbidden from visiting them.

1. [Dazhu County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Feng Renjun Arrested and Detained at Xindu Detention Center

On August 3, 2009, Mr. Feng Renjun from Dazhu County was arrested by officials from the Xindu District Police Station and has been held at the Xindu District Detention Center in Chengdu City.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Pang You Arrested and Home Ransacked

On August 3, 2009, Mr. Pang You from the Chaoyang District in Beijing was arrested for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. Around 11:30 p.m., the police ransacked his home. At present, his whereabouts are unknown.

On the morning of August 3, 2009, Mr. Liu Weijun and Ms. Shao Zhiqin from Qinglong Town, Qinglong County, Qinhuangdao City, were reported for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Caonian Township, and later arrested and interrogated by Yang Yong, head of the Caonian Township Police Station as well as three other officials.

1. [Pizhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Chengxia and Mr. Weng Hongwu, Her Husband, Arrested and Home Ransacked

Married couple, Ms. Wang Chengxia and Mr. Weng Hongwu from Pizhou City were arrested on August 1, 2009. Ms. Wang Chengxia was directly sent to the Tushan Town Police Station in Pizhou City. Mr. Weng Hongwu was arrested at his home, and the police ransacked it. Because the police found nothing there, they went to ransack the house of his friend, Mr. Hua. There they found Falun Gong books and materials, and subsequently arrested Mr. Hua's wife, Mrs. Wang Nusheng (Mr. Hua was absent on business). Right now, the three are being detained at the Tushan Town Police Station; no one can visit them.

1. [Wangqing County, Jilin Province] Mr. Shao Yuhai Arrested

Mr. Shao Yuhai was arrested on July 31, 2009, by officials from the Dongguang Police Station in Wangqing County.

1. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ren Yumin Sent to the Forced Labor Camp

On the morning of July 14, 2009, Pei Guangfu, Head of the Hulin Police Department's Domestic Security Division in Heilongjiang Province, organized several officials to trick Ms. Ren Yumin into coming to the Hulin Detention Center, claiming it was for a physical examination. Without due process, Ms. Ren Yumin was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor and sent to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labor Camp that evening.

Around 9:00 a.m. on July 29, 2009, Li Yan, Head of the Lan Village Committee in Datong Town, Wuan City, organized six or seven officials from the Datong Town Police Station to break into Ms. Chen Guiping's house and ransack it. They broke the locks, stole her Falun Gong books and an MP3 player, and arrested Ms. Chen, taking her to the Wuan Detention Center.

1. [Xiaogan City, Hubei Province] The Couple Ms. Chen Mingxin and Mr. Zhao Xunmin Detained at Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen Mingxin and her husband, Mr. Zhao Xunmin, work at the 066 Wanfeng Radio Factory in Xiaogan City. They have been missing since the middle of July. At the end of July, it was said that under pressure from the local police department, the leaders of their factory exposed them, which led to them being arrested and taken to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Center. It has also been said that four assistants that went with them haven't returned yet.

On July 23, 2009, two practitioners whose surnames are Jin and Wang from the Acheng City Hospital of Chinese Medicine were arrested by officials from the Jiaojie Town Police Station and the Joint-Defense Team while the two were clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in Jiaojie Town, Acheng City. They are now in the Acheng City No.2 Detention Center.

1. [Gaoyao City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Shiqiong Arrested

On July 30, 2009, Ms. Liang Shiqiong from Gaoyao City was arrested in Zhaoqing City. She is being held and persecuted at the Duanzhou Detention Center.

1. [Changle City, Shandong Province] The Couple Ms. Liu Meirong and Mr. Liu Anjie Illegally Held at Detention Center

On July 23, 2009, Ms. Liu Meirong and Mr. Liu Anjie, her husband, from Qianbeihao Village, Raogou Town, were arrested at home by the officials from the Raogou Town Police Station and the Changle City Domestic Security Division. One policeman beat Ms. Liu Meirong so brutally that her jaw was dislocated. The couple was detained and brutally abused at the Raogou Town Police Station. The police beat them, forced them to sit on the "iron chair," did not let them sleep, and hung them up in the air. Around August 1, 2009, the couple was transferred to the Changle City Detention Center.

1. [Hebei Province] Ms. Deng Haiyun Arrested and Sent to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Deng Haiyun lives in Yongtaicang Village, Sanhao Township, Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. She has been persecuted many times just for her steadfastness in cultivating Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. During the Beijing Olympic Games, Ma Xiang, branch secretary of the Yongtaicang Village Committee, got together with officials from the Sanhao Township Police Station to ransack Ms. Deng's home, and stole her Falun Gong books and materials, photographs of Master, and a television receiver. Ms. Deng was later arrested and sent to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp, where she was subjected to forced labor in the Fifth Division.

1. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Zhaomin Arrested and Home Ransacked

Mr. Chen Zhaomin lives in Dongsanjia Village, Qidaoquanzi Town, Longcheng District, Chaoyang City. At midnight on July 21, 2009, about ten officials from the Development Zone Police Department in Chaoyang City broke into Mr. Chen's home, arrested him, and took him to the Chaoyang County Detention Center. The police also ransacked his home, stealing many personal belongings, including one laptop, one copy machine, two cameras, a VCD, a television, an MP3, a radio, and more than 1000 yuan in cash.

23. [Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Change Again Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor

Ms. Liu Change is a retired bank employee in her sixties. On June 8, 2009, she was reported for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in Yujia Township, Guixi City. Officials from the Yujia Township Police Station arrested her and took her to the Guixi City Detention Center. The Guixi City 610 Office, the Guixi City Police Department, the Yingtan City 610 Office, and the Yingtan City Police Department fabricated evidence to sentence her to forced labor. Ms. Liu was sent to the Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp at the beginning of July.

Before this, she has been subjected to forced labor twice before. While detained at the Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp, her arms and hands were dislocated by several detainees who monitored her.
