(Clearwisdom.net) At the time of the Chinese New Year in 2009, Ms. Gong Yueming's mother was not in a festive New Year's mood. Because her eldest daughter Gong Yueming persisted in practicing Falun Gong, she was illegally arrested and jailed. Because she was so severely persecuted, she suffered a mental collapse and her family suffered greatly.

Ms. Gong Yueming was released just before the Chinese New Year of 2009, from the No. 2 Women's Prison of Wuhan City. When she came out of the prison, she was very thin and was suffering from a mental collapse. While she was illegally imprisoned, her husband divorced her under great pressure and she was not even allowed to see her own child nearby. Her elderly mother had to bring her back to her own home.

Ms. Gong Yueming, who is in her forties, is from Gonglong Village, Wuxue City, Hubei Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in May 1996. Her chronic stomach problems, severe rheumatism and the pains in her abdomen and legs disappeared after beginning the practice. She was previously very thin and haggard, but after practicing her appearance became healthy. She previously had a bad temper and spent a lot of time playing mahjong, but after she began practicing Falun Gong she became very kind and was regarded as a good person by her neighbors, work unit, and her family.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese communist regime, initiated the illegal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The constant broadcasting of poisoned propaganda on TV made Ms. Gong's husband and her parents-in-law so scared that they tried to stop her from practicing Falun Gong.

In April 2000, Gong Yueming went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and later detained at the Wuxue Detention Center. When Xue Shaohua, former head of the Longtang Police Station, led police to search Ms. Gong's home, her mother-in-law was so terrified that she started to cry loudly. Gong Yueming was illegally detained for more than four months. One staff member from Wuxue City 610 Office blackmailed Gong Yueming's husband and demanded that he pay 2,000 yuan, forcing the family to pay for sending her to the brainwashing center, otherwise her husband would lose his job. Because Gong's husband was afraid of losing his job, he divorced her and took their house and all of their jointly-owned property with him.

Ms. Gong Yueming has been unlawfully sentenced to jail twice. On January 19, 2001, because she distributed truth-clarifying materials, she was arrested and detained in the No. 1 Detention Center of Wuxue City. She was subjected to forced interrogations and was illegally sentenced to three years in jail after being detained for over a year. On March 23, 2003, she was sent to the No. 2 Woman's Prison of Wuhan City. As a form of torture, her hands were handcuffed behind her back for three days and nights. She was detained in a cell where the head of the cell, O Donglian, often beat and kicked her. She had also been detained in a confinement cell, deprived of sleep, and as a form of punishment was not allowed to use the restroom, nor was any water provided to even wash her face or take a shower. She was later transferred to the No. 1 Division for "transformation" but still refused to be brainwashed. The heads of the division instigated the inmates, including Liu Shexiang, Hou Changfeng, Chen Hui and Han Yuanxiang to torture her, kicking and punching her, using every means they could think of to abuse her, which caused her great suffering both physically and mentally.

Ms. Gong Yueming was again unlawfully sentenced to jail around the beginning of 2006. When she was released from the No. 2 Women's Prison of Wuhan City, before the Chinese New Year of 2009, she had already suffered a mental collapse. Her condition was so bad, that not long ago, her family sent her to a local mental hospital for treatment.
