(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces. In this report, 43 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 29 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Police in Huadian City Arrest Practitioners

From 3:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on August 12, 2009, under the orders of the Huadian City "610 Office" and the Domestic Security Division of the Public Security Bureau police stations in Huadian City seven practitioners were arrested and taken to the brainwashing class located in the Yongji Elementary School.

Mr. Mao Chun and Ms. Song Guifeng escaped. Ms. Han Li's home was surrounded by police officers from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The details of what happened are unknown.

2. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Su Lianfeng Sent to Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Xu Yiwen's Whereabouts Unknown

At noon on July 15, 2009, six to seven police officers from the Domestic Security Division in Linjiang City broke into Ms. Su Lianfeng's home, arrested her and took her to the Linjiang Detention Center.

On the same day, Ms. Xu Yiwen, the daughter of practitioners, Mr. Xu Dongcheng and Ms. Wang Shu'er, were also arrested. Earlier that day, Ms. Xu, accompanied a friend to the Public Security Bureau in Linjiang City to visit the friend's mother, a detained practitioner. During their visit, her friend's mother managed to escape from the detention center. After failing to find the missing practitioner, officers from the Domestic Security Division went to Ms. Xu's home and accused her of aiding in the escape. They arrested her and took her to the Public Security Bureau.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on July 30, 2009, officers from the Domestic Security Division secretly transferred Ms. Su and Ms. Xu from the Linjiang Detention Center. Ms. Shu's family was later notified that she was sent to the Baishan Forced Labor Camp for a one-year term. The latest news is that Ms. Su has been taken to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Ms. Xu's situation is unknown.

Ms. Xu's mother, Ms. Wang Shu'er, is in Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Her father, Mr. Xu Chengdong, was forced to leave home.

3. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

In the evening of August 9, 2009, Ms. Lai Lifeng and Auntie Zhang from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province were arrested by officers from the Hesi Police Station in Mei County when they were in the area. They are held at the Fuda Detention Center in Mei County.

4. [Mei County, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaoyun Sentenced for Four Years

In late July 2009, Ms. Zhang Xiaoyun from Mei County, Guangdong Province was sentenced to a four-year term by the Mei County Court. She is held at the Fuda Detention Center in Mei County and will be transferred to the Women's Prison in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province.

5. [Laiwu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Huimei Arrested On July 31, 2009

Ms. Zhang Huimei from Laiwu City, Shandong Province, was arrested. It is reported that she is held at the Laiwu Detention Center. Recently, many practitioners in Laiwu City have been arrested and two of them were taken to the forced labor camp.

Since August 6, 2009, the day Mr. Liu Qiang was arrested, several officers in plain clothes have been lurking around Ms. Liu's home during the day. The police did not come in police cars.

8. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Wenhua Tried on August 17, 2009

On June 8, 2009, Mr. Sun Wenhua from Qingdao City was reported when he was distributing Shen Yun DVDs in the Darunfa Department Store and was arrested by the Badahu Police Station. The South District Court in Qingdao City planned to try Mr. Sun on Monday, August 17, 2009.

9. [Wuqing District, Tianjin City] Ms. Yao Shilan and Ms. Zhang Yifeng Arrested

On the morning of August 12, 2009, Ms. Yao Shilan and Ms. Zhang Yifeng, both residents of Dajianchang Township, Wuqing District, Tianjin City, and a male practitioner whose name is unknown, were arrested.

10. [Xinmi City, Hunan Province] Ms. Shang Guiping Arrested

In the afternoon of July 18, 2009, Ms. Shang Guiping, in her fifties, a resident of Xinmi City, Hunan Province, was reported and arrested while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials in Ganzhai Village, Xinmi City.

When Ms. Shang did not return home, her son became worried and looked for her everywhere. He did not learn of her arrest until four days later when officers from the local police station went to search Ms. Shang's home. She is held in the Shibalihe Women's Prison in Hunan Province.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Huang Ronghua's Term Extended

Ms. Huang Ronghua from Shunyi District, Beijing City, was sent to the Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing for a two-and-a-half-year term, and was transferred to the Forced Labor Camp in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia during the Olympic Games. She was due to be released on July 28, 2009, but the Forced Labor Camp refused to release her and extended her term by twenty days.

12. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Guilan Sent to Labor Camp

On June 18, 2009, Ms. Zhang Guilan, a teacher at the No. 10 Middle School in Weifang City, Shandong Province, was arrested by the Domestic Security Division of the Public Security Department in Kuiwen District. Two months later she was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She is held at Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp.

13. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Xia Sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

On June 18, 2009, Ms. Zhao Xia from Qilihe Town, Yi County, who was arrested earlier in Yuji Town, Linghai City, Liaoning Province, was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Her family went to visit her but the labor camp did not permit them to see her.

14. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Luo Chengrong Arrested

In the evening of August 5, 2009, Ms. Luo Chengrong, who lives in the Gusaoshu area in Jianghan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, and a young female practitioner whose last name is Liu, who works in the court, were arrested by the police while they were on the street. Their whereabouts are unknown.

15. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Dexiang Arrested

Ms. Sun Dexiang, in her fifties, a resident in Wuying District, Yichun City, was once detained for more than twenty days for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In the evening of July 25, 2009, five to six police officers including Ren Yongjun, Zhang Renle, and Jiao Yinggui broke into Ms. Sun's home and arrested her. They also confiscated her computer, a salary direct deposit bank card and other personal items. Ms. Sun is held at the Wuying Detention Center. On August 4, 2009, her family went to the Public Security Department Wuying Branch to request a visit, but the Public Security Department used various excuses to reject them.

16. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xuchun Arrested

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on August 12, 2009, officer Niu Chunping, from the Yumin Township Police Station, saw Ms. Wang Xuchun at a gas station and followed her to her sister's home. He and the driver of the police car arrested Ms. Wang and took her to the Domestic Security Division in Yushu City. Her whereabouts are unknown.

17. [Zhengding County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Shulin Arrested

On August 3, 2009, nine practitioners in Shijiazhuang City were arrested by officers from Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp and the Tongye Police Station in Luquan City for their involvement in the rescue effort of Ms. Wang Yuexia, whose detention was extended by the labor camp. Due to the rescue efforts of other practitioners, the Yongye Police Station released all nine practitioners at 10 p.m. that evening. However, at approximately 5 p.m. on August 6, 2009, Mr. Liu Shulin from Donganfeng Village, Xipingle Town, Zhengding County, Hebei Province was arrested by the county Domestic Security Division and the Xipingle Police Station. He was transferred to the county detention center on August 7, 2009. Other practitioners were also harassed by the police and their homes were searched.

18. [Jingmen City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Yunying and Ms. Cui Ronghua Held in Detention Center

On August 7, 2009, Ms. Wang Yunying and Ms. Cui Ronghua, both in their sixties and residents of Dayukou area, Jingmen City, Hubei Province, were transferred by the police from the Dongqu Police Station in Dayukou to the Qianfodong Detention Center in Huyaguan, Jingmen City.

19. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Region] Ms. Wu Jingli Sentenced to Two Years

In early June 2009, Ms. Wu Hongping from Lindong Town, Chifeng City, was arrested by the police from Lindong Town. Since she is pregnant, the police released her after extorting over 30,000 yuan from her family.

Ms. Wu's mother, Ms. Wu Jingli, rented a place in Chifeng City. In the evening of June 11, 2009, police from Lindong Town and officers from the Public Security Department in Chifeng City came to search her place and arrested her afterward. They confiscated her Dafa books, DVDs, over 10,000 yuan in cash and other personal items. In early August 2009, Ms. Wu Jingli was sentenced to two years and is held at the Women's Prison in Hohhot City.
