It Only Counts When People Truly Understand the Truth

There was a 70-year-old retired veteran in the city where I live. He was a fellow practitioner's husband. Because he was deeply poisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), he collided with Dafa and turned a deaf ear to the movement to quit the CCP. One day he saw a young female practitioner on the street. Because they knew each other, she started trying to convince him to quit the CCP. Because he wanted to save face, he didn't obviously object to what she said. Thus, she thought that he had agreed to withdraw. When he got home, he got furious with his wife and said something like, "So and So has attempted to convince me to quit the Party. No way! That's ridiculous!" He also said something slanderous about Dafa. In order to make him stop, his wife got into a quarrel with him.

Saving people is very urgent. The things that fellow practitioners have done in order to save them are very precious. However, practitioners sometimes act a bit too hastily. In fact, I also had this problem when I tried to convince people to quit the CCP. I didn't pay attention to whether or not they truly understood what it meant to quit the CCP. I urged them to take a stance immediately, thinking that, regardless of their understanding, as long as they agreed to quit, I would have accomplished my mission. Now I have come to understand that, although a person might agree to quit the CCP on the surface, if his heart has not changed and he doesn't acknowledge the beauty of Dafa and the wickedness of the CCP, and he doesn't believe that quitting the CCP will bring him good fortune, then what's the point of quitting? If we thoroughly clarify the factsto him, and he agrees to withdraw from the CCP after understanding that it is truly evil, then he will be saved.

Another practitioner in my city told me this story. She went to an old friend's house to tell her the truth about Falun Gong. During the first visit, her friend just listened to her and didn't say anything. On her second visit, her friend accepted the truth-clarification materials that she gave her. She thought, "I shouldn't be too aggressive. As long as you don't turn me away, I will keep bringing you materials. I don't want to push you to take a stance immediately. After you understand the true meaning of quitting the CCP, you will naturally come to me." Thus, whenever she had new materials, she would send or take them to her friend. Two months later, her friend asked her relative to tell her to come to her house. The practitioner went, and, after chatting for a while, her friend took out a piece of paper from the drawer with a list of names on it. Her friend said, "Just a few of the people on the list are Party members. The rest are members of the Youth League. There are my sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sons-in-law, nephews, etc. They told me they wanted to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Please help us do this on the Internet."

After I heard that, I realized that this practitioner had done a great job. Compared with her, I was a bit too impatient for success. When I hurried to achieve my goal, I talked very fast and lacked wisdom. I always wanted to get instant results after explaining the facts to them, regardless of how well or poorly they understood my point. When they didn't take a stance, I tended to push them. In fact, as soon as I did this, I had already mixed in my human attachments to saving sentient beings. Thinking back, I realize that, even though some people nodded their heads to agree to quit the CCP, they may not have been sincere.

Now I have enlightened to the fact that I shouldn't pursue quick results or quantity. Rather, I should put more emphasis on the efficacy of my truth-clarification efforts and pay more attention to the image that Dafa practitioners have in the eyes of ordinary people. Whether we have less or more time to clarify the facts, we should always show ordinary people that we Dafa practitioners are kind, rational, prudent, and clearheaded people. There are instances when we don't have enough time to thoroughly explain the facts. In that case, we should try our best to lay a foundation for them to learn the truth in the future. Other practitioners might see them in the future, and they will be saved in the end. We should also put more effort into truly clarifying the facts to them, while not pressing them to take an immediate stance. If we don't leave them with a good impression, they might misunderstand or even push us away when they see us. In that case, not only will we not save them, but we will push them downhill to destruction.
