(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 9 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 38 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Wendeng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Yuhua Taken into Custody
On July 11, 2009, Ms. Chen Yuhua from Dachuang Village in Songcun Town, Wendeng City was turned in to the police while telling others about Falun Dafa. Officers from the Wendeng Domestic Security Division took her into custody. The officers, led by the village accountant, searched her home the following day. Ms. Chen is being held at the Wendeng Detention Center.

2. [Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Zhongbao and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
At around 3:00 p.m. on July 20, 2009, Ding Guangjie and two other officers from the Goubangzi Police Department in Beizhen City, Liaoning Province arrived at Mr. Li Zhongbao's home. The officers deceived Mr. Li into opening the door. They forced their way in and searched his home. The officers took him to the Beizhen Detention Center after finding a couple of Shen Yun performance DVDs and two weekly magazines.
At around 4:00 p.m. on July 20, Mr. Liu Yuan was taken into custody at the barbershop he owns. Witnesses saw at least five police officers go into the barber shop. They dragged Mr. Liu into a police vehicle. The police searched his home. Mr. Liu is being held at the Beizhen Detention Center.
At around noon on July 20, officers from the Goubangzi Police Department went to a practitioner's home in Xiwangtun Village in Goubangzi Town. The police confiscated books. The practitioner happened to not be at home. At around 4:00 a.m. on July 21, the police showed up at the practitioner's home again to catch him. He managed to escape.
At around 1:00 p.m. on July 20, half a dozen officers from the Beizhen Domestic Security Division and the Changxing Police Station broke into Ms. Yu Huilan's home in Guangming Village, Changxing Town. They confiscated Falun Gong materials and took her to the Changxing Police Station.

3. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Lijun Taken into Custody
Ms. Li Lijun, around 50 years old, lives in the dormitory of the Xin'ao Natural Gas Company in the Baxianqiao area in Xiangtan City. On the evening of July 20, the police took her into custody.
4. [Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Huo Shucai Taken into Custody
On July 19, 2009, officers from the Chaoyang Police Station and the Damiao Police Station arrived at Xiaotagou Village. They took Mr. Huo Shucai into custody. Mr. Huo is being held at a detention center.
5. [Hengyang County, Hunan Province] Mr. Zhu Pingzhi Taken into Custody Again
At around 10:00 p.m. on July 20, 2009, a dozen police officers from the Hengyang County "610 Office," the state security department, and the local police station broke into Mr. Zhu Pingzhi's home. They took Mr. Zhu into custody.
The police then broke into Mr. Dai Kuisong's home. They used knives to pry open all the cabinets and suitcases in his home. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and Falun Dafa books before taking Mr. Dai and his granddaughter, Ms. Dai Juan, into custody.
6. [Duolun County, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Zhang Huimin and Two Other Practitioners Taken into Police Custody
Ms. Zhang Huimin in Duolun County was turned in to the police while she was telling others about Falun Gong. At around 9:00 a.m. on July 21, 2009, the police took her into custody at her home. The officers then searched her home. At around 2:00 p.m. the police searched the homes of Ms. Li Guiqin and Ms. Li Guihua in No. 3 Group, Baichengzi Village, Caimushan Township, Duolun County. The two practitioners were taken into custody.
7. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Jin Bowen Taken into Custody
On July 20, Mr. Jin Bowen, 57, was taken into custody at work in the Linghai City Statistics Bureau by officers from the Linghai City Police Department and the Domestic Security Division. The police searched his home the following day.
8. [Antu County, Jilin Province] Mr. Pan Wei Taken into Custody
On July 9, 2009, when Mr. Pan Wei, was at work in Wanbao Town, Antu County, officers from the Liangjiang Town Police Station in Antu County and the county domestic security police took him into custody. Half a dozen police officers searched his home in Liangjiang Town, Antu County without a warrant. They confiscated Falun Dafa books, two computers, a printer, several DVD burners, DVDs, and other personal belongings.
Mr. Pan managed to escape. He has been forced to leave town with nowhere to live. His bedridden father, who has suffered years of illness, and his school-aged child have no one to take care of them.

9. [Hunan Province] Ms. Dai Qingping Held at Miluo City Detention Center
On July 16, 2009, Ms. Dai Qingping, 46, from Miluo City, Hunan Province, was taken into custody at her eldest daughter's home in Guangdong Province by the Miluo City police. Ms. Dai is being held at the Miluo City Detention Center.

10. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Ping Taken into Custody
On the morning of July 21, 2009, officers from the Tianjia Police Station, led by Fu Zhenguo, head of the Dawa County Domestic Security Division in Panjin City, broke into Ms. Zhang Ping's home in the Shangfang area, Tianjia Town. The police took her into custody. Ms. Zhang is being held at the Dawa County Detention Center.

11. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Guangqing Taken into Custody
At 5:00 p.m. on July 17, 2009, four officers from the Qiaoniao Township Police Station in the South Railroad Station new development district in Jinzhou City broke into Mr. Li Guangqing's home in the Nanlingtun countryside in Qiaoniao Township, the new development district. The police took Mr. Li to the Majiawazi Detention Center in Jinzhou City. They also confiscated a VCD player.

12. [Tianjin] Mr. Su Jianming's Home Searched
On the morning of July 21, 2009, a police vehicle arrived at Chengezhuang Village in Dong'erying Township, Ji County, Tianjin. The police searched Mr. Su Jianmin's home. Mr. Su managed to escape.
13. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiaoling and Other Practitioners Taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Prison
On the evening of June 11, 2008, Ms. Liu Xiaoling, Ms. Yang Shuzhi, Ms. Zhao Yufang, Ms. Qin Pengzhen, and Mr. Zheng Jianjun (a driver, who is not a practitioner) went from Tanghai County to Luannan County in Hebei Province to distribute "truth clarification" materials. The police took them into custody. Ms. Liu, Ms. Yang, and Ms. Qin have been held at the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Zhang has been held at the Luonan County Detention Center. Mr. Zheng has been released and returned home.
Early June 2009, the four practitioners were taken to Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.
14. [Fusong County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Suqin Taken into Custody
On July 15, 2009, the entire police squad, led by Guo Zisheng, an officer at the Dongfeng Police Station in Quanyang Town, Fusong County, searched Ms. Wang Zhiping's home. Ms. Wang managed to escape.
On July 16, Guo Zisheng again led the entire police squad in the police station to Ms. Wang Suqin's home. They searched her home and took her into custody. Ms. Wang is being held at the Fusong County Detention Center.
15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Yu Zaorong, Ms. Liu Guihua, and Another Practitioner Taken into Custody
At around 8:30 a.m. on July 15, 2009, Mr. Yu Zaorong, Ms. Liu Guihua, and a practitioner with the surname Yuan were turned in to the police while they were telling others about Falun Dafa in the Zhaojiatai area in Yongfeng Township, Wuhan City. A dozen officers from the Yongfeng Township Police Station took the three practitioners to the local police station. The three practitioners are being held at the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

16. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Zhengui Taken into Custody
On July 18, 2009, Ms. Wu Zhengui from Yingcheng City was turned in to the police while she was distributing truth clarification materials in the Caidian area in Caidian District, Wuhan City. A dozen officers from the Caidian Street Police Station took her into custody. Ms. Wu is being held at the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

17. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] A Practitioner Taken into Custody by Officers from Xinjilin Police Station
At around 8:00 a.m. on July 21, 2009, a practitioner with the surname Wang (gender unknown) was telling pedestrians about the truth of the persecution and distributing brochures near the No. 7 Public Bath on Qianjin Street in the Xinjilin area, Jilin City. Officers from the Xinjinlin Police Station took the practitioner into custody. The practitioner is around 30 years old and was with his or her child, who is 7 or 8 years old.
18. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Chunyuan Taken into Custody
Yesterday Ms. Yang Chunyan was taken into custody on her way back home from work by Liang Shibin, a state security police officer, and other police officers. At around 9:00 p.m. yesterday evening, Liang led three male and three female officers to Ms. Yang's home. They conducted an unlawful search and confiscated two notebook computers.
19. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Taken into Custody by Members of Xindu District 610 Office
At around 5:00 p.m. on July 21, 2009, members of the Xindu District 610 Office in Chengdu City took into custody Ms. Liu Guoxiu, Ms. He Qiong, Mr. Peng and his wife, and Ms. Xu Niang. The five practitioners are being held at the Chengxi Police Station in Xindu District, Chengdu City.

20. [Fu'an City, Sujian Province] Mr. Yang Wenbin Taken into Custody
Mr. Yang Wenbin, who lives in Fu'an City, was taken into custody in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. On July 12, 2009, domestic security officers from Fu'an City took him back to Fu'an City and placed him under detention on criminal charges. Mr. Yang has been held at the Fu'an City Detention Center.

21. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Xiuying and Ms. Wang Xia Taken into Custody
Recently, Ms. Liu Xiuying and Ms. Wang Xia from the Lushun area in Dalian City were taken into custody. Their homes were searched. Ms. Liu was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center from her home at around 9:00 a.m. on July 19. Ms. Wang was taken to the Dengfeng Police Station while working at a supermarket at around 9:00 a.m. on July 21.
22. [Linquan County, Anhui Province] Ms. Wang Cuilan Taken into Custody Recently
Ms. Wang Cuilan is a nurse at the county hospital in Linquan County. On the evening of July 18, 2009, Fang Xiangdong and other officers from the Beiguan Police Station took her into custody while she was on the night shift. The police then broke into her office to conduct an unlawful search. They did not find anything. Ms. Wang is being held at the Linquan Detention Center. It was reported that several other practitioners were taken into custody that day. The practitioners are being held in Linquan County and Fuyang City.

23. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ren Bingxin Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Ren Bingxin, over 65 years old, lives in Jiayuexi Village in Jiayue Town, Zhucheng City. On February 22, 2009, officers from the Jiayue Police Station took him into custody while he was at home. He was later taken to the Zhucheng City Detention Center. Mr. Ren has been taken to a labor camp in Jinan City, most likely the Wangcun Labor Camp.
24. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Zuhe Taken into Custody
At around 10:00 p.m. on July 15, 2009, Mr. Zhang Zuhe was taken into custody by officers from the Zhucheng City Domestic Security Division at his home in Zhigou Town, Zhucheng City.
25. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Lirong Taken into Custody
At around 4:00 p.m. on July 18, 2009, Ms. Guo Lirong was intercepted on her way to work by officers from the 610 Office. She was taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center that evening.
The police first went to Ms. Guo's home, but she had left for work. They took her child's computer and printer. Then the police headed to her work unit. They caught up with her before she arrived at work.
Since 2000, Ms. Guo has been arrested several times. She was fired from the Qianfeng Electronics Group Company. She has been forced to apply for odd jobs everywhere.
26. [Fusong County, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Hongxiang Taken into Custody
On July 17, 2009, Ms. Xu Hongxiang, around 50 years old, was taken into custody. The police searched her home in Lushuihe Town, Fusong County. The officers confiscated a notebook computer, a printer, a DVD burner, a laminating machine, and cash.
At around 10:00 a.m. on July 20, female practitioner Hongmei in Beishan Village, Wanliang Town, Fusong County was taken away by the police.
27. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Changping Taken into Custody
On July 15, 2009, Mr. Liu Changping was taken into custody by plainclothes police officers while he was clarifying the truth in the taxi he was driving. Officers from the Taihe Police Department and Nuerhe Police Station placed him under detention on criminal charges. Mr. Liu is on a hunger strike in the Yi County Detention Center.

28. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Dongmei, a Retired Employee from the Hebei Forestry Department, Taken into Custody at Her Home
Ms. Lu Dongmei is retired from the Hebei Forestry Department. At around 5:00 a.m. on July 21, 2009, the police broke into her home and took her into custody. The police confiscated a color television and a DVD player, which were her only electronic appliances. The police also confiscated truth clarification brochures.
29. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Dongmei, a Retired Employee from the Hebei Forestry Department, Taken into Custody at Her Home
Ms. Zhang Xiaoyan lives in he No. 2 Group, Yuantaizi Village, Liucheng Town, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province. At around 4:00 a.m. on July 24, 2009, a group of local police officers broke into her home. They took her into custody for no reason. At the time, only her 10-year-old child was with her.
30. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Yumin Taken into Custody
On the evening of July 21, 2009, Mr. Chen Yumin, who lives in Dongsanjia Village in Qidaoquanzi Town in Chaoyang City, was taken into custody. His wife managed to escape.
31. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Shufang Taken into Custody; Her Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Wang Shufang, who lives in Baochuan Village in Tiande Township, was taken into custody by Li Yueqing and other officers from the Tiande Township Police Station in Shulan City. Her whereabouts are unknown.
32. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Miao Chunyan Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Miao Chunyan, 30, lives in the Zhifu District in Yantai City. On January 22, 2009, she was "illegally sentenced" to three years in prison by the Zhifu District Court in Yantai City. She appealed her case. The intermediate court upheld the original sentencing at her second trial.
33. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Aiqun Remains in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Sun Aiqun lives in the Fushan District in Yantai City. On the evening of June 7, 2009, she was turned in to the police while she was giving out brochures. She was taken to the 610 Office before being transferred to the Fushan District Brainwashing Center. She remains in the brainwashing center.
34. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guiping Taken into Custody; Her Home Searched
At around 6:00 a.m. on July 20, 2009, officers from the Wudaojiang Town Police Station broke into Ms. Li Guiping's home in Wudaojiang Town, Tonghua City. The officers searched her home and took her into custody. The police came back to search her home again that morning.
35. [Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Ying and Two Other Practitioners in Shengli Oil Fields Taken into Custody
At noon on June 21, 2009, three practitioners--Ms. Wang Ying, Ms. Liu Yufen and Ms. Jiang Congmei--at the Shengli Oil Fields were reported to the police when they went to the Sikou Township in Hekou District from their homes in Gudao Town, Hekou District, Dongying City to give out brochures. The police took them to the Hekou District Detention Center.
The following day, the police sent out three vehicles of officers to search the practitioners' homes. They confiscated computers, printers, mopeds, and other personal belongings. The practitioners' families have not been allowed to see them in the detention center.

36. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Xiuzhen Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor
On July 11, 2009, Ms. Li Xiuzhen was taken into custody by Jia Wenjin and other officers from the Tangu Police Station for telling others about the persecution of Falun Gng. On the evening of July 13, she was taken to a detention center and placed under 15 days of detention. On the evening of July 18, she was taken to a forced labor camp to serve a one-year term. No legal documents related to her unlawful sentencing were ever filed.
