(Clearwisdom.net) San Diego has warmly welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts for the past three years. On December 29, another wonderful show enthralled the audience.

Portia was a professional soloist and is now part of the La Jolla Renaissance Singers

Portia enjoyed the bass soloist, but was struck by the erhu [Chinese violin] and piano soloist. "I thought the erhu was beautiful and the pianist was wonderful," said Portia. "It was wonderful--spectacular is a good word for it. The discipline that the guys and gals went through...synchronization was just perfect," said Portia about the dancers. "The costumes were beautiful," she continued as she expressed her amazement at the sheer creative genius behind the elaborate, handmade costumes. She also explained how she learned a bit more about Chinese culture through the movements and feelings the Shen Yun dancers were conveying. "I appreciate knowing more about the Chinese and how they feel. And what's important [to them] because it came out in the dance." The emcees provide the audience with explanations in Chinese and English about each dance. This helps the audience learn and appreciate more about each of the dances. "I loved the exchange of the American and the Chinese," said Portia, regarding the hosts.

Professor of Law: "Interesting, colorful, dynamic, diverse, native and heartfelt."

Mrs. Morton who is a professor of law, was taken by the show and summed up her experience by saying, "interesting, colorful, dynamic, diverse, native and heartfelt."

Mr. and Mrs. Morton, their son Callen and Grandma Cathy were all smiles after the show on Tuesday evening.

While son Callen felt like he learned a lot about classical Chinese dance and culture, his father felt the same way and said, "It gives me a piece of what [Chinese] culture's like." "I didn't realize that Chinese dance was so regional," said Mrs. Morton referring to the several different Chinese ethnic dances presented during the performance. "I'm enjoying the stories very much. Very interesting. Very different from our North American stories." And, "Very interesting and beautiful costumes." Each Shen Yun performance also includes the Shen Yun orchestra, complete with classical Western and traditional Chinese instruments, and solo musicians and singers. "Beautiful, beautiful music," said Mrs. Morton, and, "The singers' voices were magnificent...they appeared to be singing from their hearts. Yes, very interesting. Very moving." Each audience member is taken by surprise by the digital backdrop that Shen Yun brilliantly incorporates into each performance. "Yes, it's new. Yes, very interesting. And also, very colorful. Also that makes it interesting when you combine the backdrop with the story and the music; we feel like we're immersed in China--where I've never been," said Mrs. Morton. Grandma Cathy, a former dancer said, "Well I'm very interested in dance, so the dancing, and the hand movements are very interesting." And, "Gorgeous, gorgeous costumes!"
