1. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Xiuwen and Ms. Wang Xiuqin Face Second Trial

On the morning of August 24, 2009, Ms. Wang Xiuwen and Ms. Wang Xiuqin were arrested by officers from the Xige Police Station, and their homes were searched. Fifteen days later they were transferred to the Fengnan District Detention Center. On December 17, 2009, the sisters were "tried" in court. During the proceedings, Ms. Wang Xiuqin had a sudden heart problem and passed out, at which time the court was adjourned. Under orders from the Fengnan 610 Office, the Fengnan District Court extorted money from Ms. Wang's family before sending her to the hospital. Ms. Wang was sent back to the Fengnan Detention Center on a stretcher afterward. The Fengnan District Court is planning to try the sisters again, and their family has hired lawyers from Beijing to defend them.

2. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Cui Tao Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on November 3, 2009, Xia Xueqiang, director of the Tiantai Township Police Station, and two other officers broke into Mr. Cui Tao's home and arrested him. Mr. Cui was taken to the Dehui City Detention Center where he was held for 31 days before he was sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term.

Back in July, officers from the Tiantai Township Police Station went to Mr. Cui's home and searched it. Mr. Cui's wife was home alone at the time. The officers confiscated his DVD recorder, printer, paper cutter, paper, Falun Gong books and materials, and other personal items. The officers continued to harass Mr. Cui's family and lied to them, saying that they would not arrest Mr. Cui if he came home.

3. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xiuqin and Husband Arrested

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on December 29, 2009, Lou Xingyan and three other officers from the Dehui City Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Wang Xiuqin's home and questioned her about whether she still practiced Falun Gong. They then began to search her house. Ms. Wang's husband, Liu Xingcai, resisted the police search so the officers called for more help. Two police cars came, and they confiscated Ms. Wang's two computers, paper, Falun Gong books and materials, and other personal items. They arrested Ms. Wang and her husband, who is not a practitioner. They were both taken to the Dehui City Detention Center where Ms. Wang's husband was held for five days before he was released. Ms. Wang developed heart problems in the detention center and was sent to the Dehui City People's Hospital for treatment on December 31, 2009. The detention center did not want to be held responsible for her and asked for approval from the Domestic Security Division to release her. The Domestic Security Division turned down the request and refused to release Ms. Wang.

Also held in the Dehui Detention Center are Ms. Wang Baoru, an employee at the Dehui Univeristy; Ms. Liu Shufeng from Chalukou Town; and Mr. He from Tiantai Township.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yan Arrested

On December 9, 2009, Ms. Wang Yan was arrested by the Dongta Police Station while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. She was taken to the the Shenyang City Detention Center. Officers from the Dongta Police Station ransacked her home at 9:00 p.m. that evening and confiscated a lot of her personal property, including a printer, Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong's founder, and informational materials. Ms. Wang is facing trial and imprisonment.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Face Trials

Mr. Guo Hongyan, Mr. Wang Yuchun, and Mr. Ma Guoqi, who were arrested in September 2009, are facing trial by the Shenhe District Court.

On September 9, 2009, Mr. Guo, manager of the Huililai Bakery, was arrested, and his home was searched by the Shenhe Domestic Security Division. Mr. Guo's father and an employee of the Bakery were also taken to the Erjing Police Station. At 8:00 p.m. that evening, Mr. Guo's father was forced to sign on two blank search lists before he was released. The officers also confiscated Mr. Guo's savings, operating cash, and many other personal items. When Mr. Guo's family requested a receipt for the confiscated items, the police refused and told the family to read the written judgment in several days. According to stores next to the Huililai Bakery, the police searched the bakery for more than two hours the day after Mr. Guo was arrested.

Mr. Guo was detained in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center and the Shenyang City Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. His family went to the Shenhe District Domestic Security Division to ask for his release but was turned away. Also arrested in September 2009 was Ms. Huang Xiaojie, who was detained in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center as well as the Shenyang City Detention Center.

6. [Beijing] Mr. Jia Fengyou, Mr. Wang Zicheng and Mr. Liu Yaping Arrested

According to sources, in late November 2009, Mr. Wang Zicheng was arrested while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in the Mafang District. The police used the keys they took from Mr. Wang when they arrested him to get in his house and took away his personal belongings. Mr. Wang is being held at the Pinggu Detention Center.

Mr. Liu Yaping, a teacher, was reported by someone at school. The police ordered him to leave his office, then checked his computer and arrested him.

Mr. Jia Fengyou was arrested two months ago.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shao You Arrested Again

At noon on December 31, 2009, Mr. Shao You from Hexin Township, Luyuan District, Changchun City, was arrested at his home by the local police station. He was detained at the forced labor camp twice before.

8. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Xin'ai Mistreated at Xinxiang Women's Prison

Ms. Li Xin'ai was detained in solitary confinement in the Xinxiang Women's Prison. She was subjected to the tiger bench torture, having to wear a tight uniform that cut off her circulation, and was administered unknown drugs against her will. She was also stripped of her clothes, had her arms and legs tied to a bed, and was deprived of food and water. She is in a dire situation.

9. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liang Yuying on a Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution

Ms. Liang Yuying, a retiree from the Nanyang Oil Field, and Ms. Lei Zhenying were both detained at the Xinye County Detention Center in Nanyang City for more than 20 days. Ms. Liang has been on a hunger strike for more than 10 days. The detention center refused to allow her family to visit her.

10. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Qi Guangfa Arrested

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on December 26, 2009, several officers from the Linghai Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Qi Guangfa's home in Xinglong Village, Shuangyang Town, Linghai City, and arrested the 55-year-old practitioner. The officers jumped over the walls to get in the courtyard and broke the glass on the door. Without showing any identification, the officers grabbed Mr. Qi, who was wearing only pajamas, from his bed and took him to the police car. They confiscated his computer, Falun Gong books, and other personal items, ransacking the house and leaving it in shambles. Mr. Qi's mother, who is in her 80s, and is paralyzed and bedridden and depended on Mr. Qi. She was heartbroken when she saw her son being taken away. Mr. Qi was handcuffed in his pajamas to the heating pipe in the Domestic Security Division overnight.

11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liang Qidong's Appeal Rejected

The Weifang Intermediate People's Court rejected Mr. Liang Qidong's appeal and upheld the lower court's decision.

12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Fengjun Released

Mr. Wang Fengjun was sentenced to 18 months in a correctional facility. He was due to be released on January 1, 2010. The Dalian 610 Office attempted to send him to a brainwashing center, but his family picked him up at 7:00 a.m. on January 1, 2010, and Mr. Wang is now home.

13. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wei Yanru Detained at Qianguo County Detention Center

14. [Fuyuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Tan Mingcheng Tortured

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on December 18, 2009, Yan Pengfei and other officers from the Zhuaji Town, Fuyuan County, Police Station broke into Mr. Tan Mingcheng's home and arrested him. Mr. Tan talked to the officers about the truth of Falun Gong. He went on a hunger strike in the Fuyuan County Detention Center to protest the persecution and was force fed and administered unknown drugs. He was tortured to the verge of death. On December 30, 2009, after having 2,000 yuan extorted from them, his family carried him out of the detention center.

15. [Ji County, Henan Province] Mr. Song Jiaxing Arrested

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on December 31, 2009, Li Yongjun, chief of the Ji County Domestic Security Division, and two other officers broke into Mr. Song's home and ransacked it. They arrested Mr. Song and took him to the Ji County Detention Center. When his family questioned the Domestic Security Division why Mr. Song was arrested, they were told that it was "because he practices Falun Gong."

16. [Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested by Anqiu 610 Office

Ms. Li Zhen, Ms. Li Jing, Ms. Lin Shuzhen, and Mr. Ding Yuezhao and his wife, Ms. Zhang, were arrested by the Anqiu 610 Office. Ms. Zhang's arm was fractured as a result of police mistreatment. Two other practitioners, who were not Anqiu residents, were tortured to the verge of death and are being treated at the Anqiu People's Hospital.

The other two practitioners are being held at the Danshan Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Ju Jianying, Mr. Xu, Mr. Chen Zhijun, and Ms. Niu Huizhen were released.

17. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Mr. Li Jingang Sentenced

On September 7, 2009, without obtaining a confession, the Huainan City Intermediate People's Court sentenced Mr. Li Jingang to a five-year term.

Ms. Ding Honglian from the Wangjing District in Beijing was arrested on July 17, 2009, and recently sent to the Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp for a two-year term.
