(Clearwisdom.net) On November 5, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Xu Yongpei and three other practitioners from Chongqing were arrested while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in the Baishiduo Township, Jiulongpo District of Chongqing. That night, two of the four practitioners escaped by using righteous thoughts, but Mr. Xu and the other practitioner were detained at the Huayan Detention Center in Jiulongpo District and their homes were ransacked. This was the fourth arrest for Mr. Xu since the Communist regime started persecuting Falun Gong.

Mr. Xu Yongpei, 63, had served in the army for nearly twenty years. He fought in the Sino-Vietnamese War and injured his leg and head (there is still debris in his head). He had suffered from chronic bronchitis, chronic gastroenteritis, protrusion of the lumbar intervertebral discs, and Ménière's disease. In the 1980s, Mr. Xu retired from the army due to being disabled. At that time, he had to wear a steel vest to support his back, and a herb belt to treat his lower back. His health had not improve even after years of treatment, and his workplace had to pay about 10,000 yuan in medical expenses per year. He also had difficulty taking care of himself.

Mr. Xu started practicing Falun Gong in late 1996. He read the passage from Lecture One in the book Zhuan Falun, where Master Li states,

"We do not talk about healing illness here, either. Rather, we talk about holistically adjusting practitioners' bodies to enable you to practice cultivation."

After reading this, Xu Yongpei took off his steel vest and the herb belt, and threw away all his medications. Within three months of solid cultivation practice, all of his illnesses disappeared and he became like a younger person. As a doctor, his wife was amazed at his changes. His friends, relatives, coworkers, neighbors, former classmates and former fellow soldiers all witnessed the wonders of Falun Gong.

In July 1999, Jiang Zemin colluded with the Communist Party and launched the persecution of Falun Gong. The authorities subsequently arrested Mr. Xu Yongpei and sent him to a detention center. Fifteen days later, they sent him to a brainwashing center for further persecution. Mr. Xu did not give in, and instead clarified the facts to the persons who tried to "transform" him. Within six months he was able to leave the brainwashing center openly and nobly. The regime personnel however continued following, monitoring, and harassing him at home.

In 2002, only six months after Mr. Xu was released from the brainwashing center, the police arrested him again, sent him to a detention center, and attempted to send him to a forced labor camp. Mr. Xu did not cooperate with this round of persecution and refused to report or sign documents. He persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises and clarifying the facts to the inmates. Through this, some inmates wanted to learn Falun Gong, and some promised to learn Falun Gong after they got out, so they could become good people. The authorities could not stand this and sent Xu Yongpei to a brainwashing center a month later. Again, Mr. Xu continued to clarify the facts to the people who were attempting to "transform" him in the brainwashing center. Therefore, no one could transform him, and he was released four months later.

After he returned home, the local police restricted Mr. Xu's freedom by sending officers to his home and calling him once a month to harass him. A year later, Zhao, head of the street committee, tried to force Mr. Xu to write the three statements and threatened to persecute him otherwise. Mr. Xu had to leave home in order to avoid being persecuted.

On January 6, 2007, while Mr. Xu and his wife were walking on the busy streets of Jiulongpo District, police officer Ou Lichang from the Domestic Security Division followed him. Working with personnel from the Xinqiao Police Station and from the Political and Security Section of Xinqiao Hospital, he arrested Mr. Xu and sent him to the Chongqing brainwashing center, which is hidden at the Wangxiangtai vocational resort in Lushan Village, Yubei District, Chongqing. The heads of his wife's workplace also started monitoring her and restricting her freedom. While at the brainwashing center, Mr. Xu maintained strong righteous thoughts, and was released two months later. Nonetheless the police never stopped following and monitoring him.

Mr. Xu has now been arrested for the fourth time. The authorities sent him to the Chongqing Xishanping Labor Camp without following any lawful procedures. The labor camp authorities called his family and informed them that his term was one year and three months. It has been reported that Ms. He Fachun, the other practitioner who was arrested with Mr. Xu, had been transferred to the Shabao Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jiangbei District on December 2, 2009, for further persecution.

We would like to sincerely ask people inside and outside of China to reach out a helping hand to stop the persecution and rescue Mr. Xu Yongpei.
