(Clearwisdom.net) There was once a male cultivator whose whole family suffered from tribulations. A female practitioner who greatly sympathized with his situation offered her help. Whatever the family lacked, she tried to help with as best she could. After she had provided for their material needs, he told her about all the difficulties he had with his marriage and the couple's lack of harmony. While striving to satisfy this unhappy fellow, the two ultimately fell into the morass of sexual desire. Fortunately, they did not make a permanent mistake. This kind of lesson has been present in the cultivation world from ancient times to the present.
There is a well-known ancient Chinese saying, "If desire is indulged in and not kept under control it will lead to disaster." This is all the more so for cultivators. If a person wants to cultivate on the path to godhood, then everything around him in the world will be utilized to magnify, and help him remove, his human attachments. Practitioners may be led astray and cultivate down an evil path if they evaluate problems from the perspective of human feelings rather than from the perspective of the Fa and cultivation. Sympathy towards a fellow practitioner is also a human attachment.
Help a person in this manner, particularly a cultivator, is not in accordance with the Fa principles at this human level of society. In order to gain you must lose. The more you work the more you gain. The less you work the less you gain.
Master has said many times that evoking a person's attachments is a serious issue. Cultivation is such a solemn matter. Attachments are very difficult to remove once they have formed. It can potentially destroy a person's cultivation.
The etiquette and and social interactions between people and among practitioners, especially between cultivators of the opposite sex, must strictly adhere to the principles of Dafa. How can there be talk of cultivating the path to godhood, if the thinking, behaviors and moral standards are not up to par?
Master told us early on,
"It is extremely dangerous to add anything human to cultivation practice." (from "Digging Out the Roots" in Essentials for Further Advancement)
If the human concepts of benevolence and sympathy are used to treat other practitioners, then problems and difficulties may arise. This is because these are not based on the Fa. These are gaps that the evil will take advantage of in order to persecute you.
Humans are steeped in emotion, and people have formed notions and attachments over many lifetimes. Furthermore the evil in other dimensions covetously eyes practitioners' ability to cultivate in the human world. If practitioners don't do things based on the Fa, are not attentive or righteous enough, problems will occur. It is exactly like what some practitioners have enlightened to, "The safest way to cultivate is to do everything based on the Fa!"
