(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Liu Feng has been illegally arrested five times and sentenced to forced labor three times. In total, he has spent approximately six and a half years in jail. Below is Mr. Liu's first-hand account of the persecution he has suffered:
I started practicing Falun Gong in December 1997. Before the practice, I was short-tempered and addicted to smoking, drinking, and gambling. The teachings of Falun Gong helped me understand the true purpose in life, and by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was able to turn my life around. All of my diseases, including lumbar muscle strain, arthritis, prostatitis, and heart palpitation, were completely healed through the practice.
Since the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, I have been arrested several times and suffered many forms of persecution.
First arrest: At around 5:00 a.m. on July 22, 1999, I was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Bureau of Anyuan District Police Station in Pingxiang City. My home was ransacked, and I was jailed in the Pingxiang City Second Detention Center and released in August 1999.
Second arrest: In October 1999, I signed a petition for a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing to be released. Because of this, I was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Bureau of Anyuan District Police Station in Pingxiang City again, and my home was ransacked again. I was detained in the Pingxiang City Second Detention Center and subsequently sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. I was released from the forced labor camp in February 2000, after being extorted of 5,000 yuan.
Third arrest: In October 2000, I was forced to become homeless in order to escape ongoing harassment and persecution. Since the police could not find me, they terminated my mother's pension, made it impossible for my wife to work, and prevented my cousins from going to college or working. A notice for a reward of 50,000 yuan for my arrest was posted on the website of the Ministry of Public Security. In April 2001, under the command of Yi Cen, head of Pingxiang City 610 Office, officers from the Anyuan District Domestic Security Bureau arrested me again. I was detained in the Pingxiang City Second Detention Center until August 2001, when I was transferred to Jiangxi Province Second Forced Labor Camp in Bajing Town, Gaoan City. I was released in July 2002.
Fourth arrest: In July 2003, I was again arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Bureau of Anyuan District Police Station in Pingxiang City and detained in the Pingxiang City Second Detention Center. He Yong, deputy chief of the Domestic Security Bureau, led the arrest. When I shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good," in the detention center, officers started to beat me. About eight policemen pushed me to the ground, kicked me, stepped on my head and shackled my feet. My feet became so swollen that I couldn't walk, take a shower, or sleep. I remained shackled for about 20 days. I was then locked in a small cage, such that I only had enough room to squat. I was left there for two days.
After being released from that tiny cell, I was sentenced to three years of forced labor. In August 2003, I was transferred to Jiangxi Province Second Forced Labor Camp. There, I was severely persecuted by the guards. Four collaborators were ordered to monitor me and prevent me from talking to anyone else. They nailed the window shut and taped paper onto the glass so that I couldn't open or see through it. I was not allowed to leave the room, where the light was always on and the door was always locked. All the letters and packages from my family were confiscated by the guards. They threatened me that if I didn't give up my belief, I would be a walking skeleton. I was finally released in June 2006.
People involved in the persecution include deputy warden Liu, head of the fifth group Hu, deputy head Fu Guizhi, team leader Xiao Feihu, head of the Education Department Luo Feixiang (female), secondary team leader Xu, and guards Huang Aihui, Wang Xinjie, and Qi Shuzhong.
Fifth arrest: On December 15, 2006, I was reported while talking to people about Falun Gong, and arrested by officers per orders from Nie Lei, head of the Domestic Security Bureau of Anyuan District Police Station. About five police officers beat me and tried to force me to tell them the names of other practitioners. I refused, and was then sent to the Pingxiang City First Detention Center. In the center, I was physically tortured by the guards. Zhong cuffed my ankles with shackles and stepped on them. It was so painful that I felt that my ankles would break into pieces. I was shackled for seven days. After that, I was sentenced to two years of forced labor. In the Jiangxi Province Second Forced Labor Camp in Bajing Town, I was handcuffed to a steel bed for eight consecutive days. In addition, I was handcuffed onto the stair handrails for eight days. At the completion of my sentence, my jail time was extended by ten more days. I was finally released on December 24, 2008. After that, policewoman Peng from Anyuan District Police Station, and workers from the Houbu Street Community Administration, Houbu Street Police Station, and Chengbei Community continued to visit and call my home to harass me and my family.
