(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhang Jingxia Arrested
Ms. Zhang Jingxia, 38, a resident of Honghuagang District, Zunyi City, is the deputy director of Anding Hospital in Zunyi City. On the morning of October 20, 2010, while Ms. Zhang was working, officials from the Honghuagang District government deceived her into going with them. She was taken to a brainwashing center. Ms. Zhang is holding a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention.
2. [Beihai City, Guangxi Province] Several Practitioners Sent to Brainwashing Center
A brainwashing center was set up in the Beihai City Drug Rehabilitation Institute to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. On October 16, 2010, Ms. Zhang Ruifang, Ms. Xu Fengben, and Mr. Chen Xiyao were sent there. On October 22, 2010, Mr. Cai Jingnan was arrested and also sent there.
3. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Dongmei Passes Away
Ms. Zhou Dongmei's entire family are Falun Gong practitioners. Her husband, Mr. Nan Chuyin, was persecuted to death. Her son is being detained in Fanjiatai Prison and was expelled from college. Her younger daughter was sentenced to seven and a half years of forced labor. Her eldest daughter has been in and out of prison four times. Ms. Zhou had been sentenced to prison twice and was once sent to a brainwashing center in Wuhan City. After she was released from the brainwashing center, she had symptoms of illness. She was alone at home but was still being harassed by local police. After long-term physical and mental torture, she passed away on June 21, 2010.
4. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Gan Jiejun on Trial Again on October 25, 2010
Ms. Gan Jiejun, 70, is a resident of the Futian District in Shenzhen City. She has been persecuted several times. On January 21, 2010, officers from the Shenzhen City Domestic Security Division and the Futian District Police Department arrested and detained her in the Futian District Detention Center. She had high blood pressure and was released on medical parole.
On July 5, 2010, the Futian District Court put her on trial. On October 20, 2010, the Futian District Court notified her that she would be tried again on October 25, 2010.

5. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yao Zhen Arrested
On the evening of October 19, 2010, officials from the Dongwan City Census came to Ms. Yao Zhen's home for residential registration. She showed them her identification. The next day, local police came to her home and arrested her. From Ms. Yao's identification, the police found out that she was a Falun Gong practitioner from her archive record. She was previously employed by the Shenzhen City Petrochemical Company. She had been detained and sentenced to forced labor several times, and was then dismissed from her job. Ms. Yao lives in Dongwan City and works temporary jobs.

8. [Jing County, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Hongliang Detained at Hengshui Brainwashing Center
On October 15, 2010, Mr. Zhao Hongliang was arrested while he was clarifying the truth at the Wangtong train station. His head was injured during the arrest and he had three stitches at the hospital. He was detained at the Hengshui Railroad Police Department. The next day, he was taken to the Jing County Detention Center. On October 21, 2010, officials from the Jing County 610 Office sent Mr. Zhao to the Hengshui Brainwashing Center.
9. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Liyan Released after Becoming Paralyzed in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison
On October 20, 2010, Ms. Chen Liyan was released from the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. She was sent out in a wheelchair and appeared to be in pain. Her family had to carry her home.
10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Guiling and Ms. Zhang Rong Detained in a Brainwashing Center
Four officers from the Dalianwan Police Station in the Ganjingzi District, including Ma Kun, the deputy director, went to Ms. Sun Guiling's home at around 10:00 a.m. on October 20, 2010, took her into custody, and took her to the Dalianwan Police Station. They confiscated a computer, cell phone, and some Falun Gong books from her home.
At around 1:00 p.m. the same day, the same group of officers went to Ms. Zhang Rong's home and took her to the Dalianwan Police Station.
The two practitioners were handcuffed behind their backs and taken to the Fushun Brainwashing Center at around 4:00 p.m. the same day.

13. [Shen County, Shandong Province] Ms. Ju Guijie Held in Detention Center
Ms. Ju Guijie is a resident of Qianchengwang Village in Wangzhuangji Township, Shen County. On September 29, 2010, the local police arrested her and she was taken to a detention center.
14. [Beijing] Ms. Li Xiuzhen Arrested
On September 28, 2010, local police arrested Ms. Li Xiuzhen, a resident of the Mentougou District in Beijing. She is being held at the Shijingshan Detention Center.
15. [Yi County, Hebei Province] Mr. Ma Dengjiang Has Severe Illness Symptoms in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp
On June 16, 2010, Mr. Ma Dengjiang was arrested. He is being detained in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp and currently has severe illness symptoms and has difficulty moving around. He was not given any treatment.
16. [Guangde County, Anhui Province] Mr. Tang Deheng Detained for Six Months
Mr. Tang Deheng was arrested at work on March 29, 2010, and has since been detained. His family tried to appeal for his release, but their appeal was blocked by Chen Hui, director of the Guangde County 610 Office.
17. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Shen Youzhen Arrested
On October 15, 2010, Ms. Shen Youzhen was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials.
It was reported that another practitioner, Ms. Xu Huihua, was recently taken to a brainwashing center.
18. [Linqu County, Shandong Province] Ms. Ji Ruilan on Hunger Strike in Wolong Brainwashing Center
On October 18, 2010, officers from the Liushan Police Station went to Mr. Zhang Zuzhen's home and attempted to arrest him and his wife, Ms. Ji Ruilan. Mr. Zhang managed to escape but Ms. Ji was taken to the Wolong Brainwashing Center. It was reported that she was holding a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

19. [Ren County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yuan Hongxia Arrested at Home
Ms. Yuan Hongxia, who is in her forties, is a resident of Sizhuang, Ren County. At around 9:00 a.m. on October 22, 2010, she was arrested at her home. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
20. [Shandong Province] Ms. Kou Hui Arrested
Ms. Kou Hui was a former employee of Qilu Petrochemical Company and now works at the Sanli Photo Gallery. At around 8:00 a.m. on September 29, 2010, several officers from the Qidu Police Department broke into the photo gallery and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings, then arrested her. Her whereabouts are unknown.
21. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Su Jixiang Arrested
At around 4:00 p.m. on October 21, 2010, officials from the Yishui County 610 Office and Yishui County Domestic Security Division, totaling over a dozen people, broke into Ms. Su Jixiang's home. They ransacked it and arrested her. She is being held in the detention center.

22. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yu Huanwen and Her Husband Mr. Cui Shuli Arrested
Ms. Yu Huanwen and her husband, Mr. Cui Shuli, are residents of Beiwang Village, Beiwang Township in Guangyang District, Langfang City. They were arrested on October 21, 2010.
23. [Shishou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xu Songying Arrested
Ms. Xu Songying, 61, was reported to authorities at around 10:00 a.m. on October 17, 2010, when she was clarifying the truth to people. Officers from the Shishou Public Security Bureau 110 Office arrested her and took her to the detention center. Three days later, her family was notified of her arrest.

24. [Beihai City, Guangxi Province] Ms. Mo Deqing Harassed by Police
Officials from the Tangzili Residential Committee went to Ms. Mo Deqing's home to harass her at around 8:00 a.m. on October 22, 2010. About 20 minutes later, two police officers showed up and attempted to arrest her, but she managed to escape.

25. [Renhuai City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Shi Zhirong Arrested
On October 5, 2010, Ms. Shi Zhirong, a resident of Zhongshu Town, Renhuai City, was arrested. On September 29, 2010, practitioner Mr. Lu Rangzhong and his wife, Ms. Zhao Mingzhi, were arrested by local police. All three practitioners have been held at the detention center.
26. [Huaihai City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Jianqin Sentenced to Four Years in Prison and Detained in the Duyun Prison in Guizhou Province
27. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Qing Liju Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison and Ms. Zeng Shufang Sentenced to Three Years
28. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Officials from the Hengban Residential Committee Harassing Ms. Wang Guiying
On October 11, 2010, the director of the Hengban Residential Committee and another official went to Ms. Wang Guiying's home when Ms. Wang was not there. They refused to leave and insisted on waiting until Ms. Wang came back, to coerce her into signing a guarantee statement, promising to no longer practice Falun Gong. Ms. Wang's husband had no choice but to sign the letter for her so that they would leave.
29. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Cui Shuli and Her Husband Arrested
At around 7:00 p.m. on October 21, 2010, Zhao Jinhui, Party secretary of the Beiwang Township Politics and Law Committee, officials from the Beiwang Township 610 Office; and officers from the Langfang City Police Department, Guangyang District Police Department, and local police station went to Ms. Cui Shuli's home in Beiwang Village in five police cars. Since Ms. Cui was not home, they went to her brother's home, next door, and arrested her there. Her husband argued with them and he was arrested as well.
While no one was at Ms. Cui's home that same night, the police came back and ransacked it. Ms. Cui and her husband's whereabouts are unknown.

30. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Duan Xinyue Passes Away Due to Persecution
Ms. Duan Xinyue, 45, was a resident of Jize County, Handan City. She was detained and persecuted several times during the past ten years. She passed away on September 29, 2010.
Ms. Duan's brother, Mr. Duan Xinshu, was arrested by agents from the Handan City 610 Office on September 25, 2003, and sent to a brainwashing center. Due to long-term persecution and constant harassment, he passed away on July 1, 2005. His elderly father was so shaken by his death that he became bedridden, and passed away shortly afterwards.
Ms. Duan was arrested on September 9, 2007, and sentenced to two years of forced labor. In the labor camp, she was beaten and shocked with electric batons. She was forced to perform heavy labor for long hours.
