New York Actor and Sister Love Shen Yun

Background actor Marty Dunn and his sister Ann Marie Soranno were present at the final performance of Shen Yun's run at Radio City Music Hall in New York on February 21.

Mr. Dunn commented, "I loved it. It was really good. And I especially liked the part about [Falun Dafa] ... and the idea that it shows the oppression in China. ... I always love it when someone speaks out about that."

Mr. Dunn was referring to the dance Astounding Conviction, which depicts a man who practices Falun Dafa standing up for his rights in Tiananmen Square. According to the program, he peacefully expresses his opposition to the government policy of persecution that targets his faith. Though his subsequent arrest leaves him physically broken, his astounding conviction inspires divine beings to come to his aid.

Shen Yun "Makes me want to do good things"

"It was genius," said Mitzi Perdue about Shen Yun Performing Arts on February 20, at New York's famed Radio City Music Hall.

Mrs. Perdue is the daughter of Ernest Henderson, who co-founded the Sheraton Hotel chain, and was one of the world's most prominent collectors of precious antiques during the 1950s. She is also the widow of Frank Perdue, famous for growing his father's Perdue Farms company into an internationally recognized leader in the chicken industry. She is an aficionado of fine arts as well as a civic leader. In addition, she has authored eight books, and over 1,600 newspaper and magazine articles, and hosted more than 400 half hour interview television shows.

"I loved it--I thought it was an amazing mixture of beauty, talent, creativity, and deep emotional connection," said Mrs. Perdue.

As an artist and a collector of fine antiques, Mrs. Perdue has a discerning eye for beauty. She found Shen Yun to be both authentic and substantive.

"It filled me with energy and hope," she said.

"I thought [I was] watching people who really cared deeply about something important, including the spiritual side of life [which] energizes me--makes me want to do good things."

"I thought it was fantastic. I would recommend all my friends to see it."

Band Leader: "It shows you we come out of darkness into light"

Albert Campbell plays drums and leads "Tariq and the Universal Musicians of Soul," a ten-piece outfit that plays Rhythm and Blues and "old school music."

"I think the show is very universal," he said. "It shows you we come out of darkness into light. It was so profound and so wonderful."

Mr. Campbell noted that the show gave him new knowledge. "That's why we should seek knowledge--we should always seek knowledge," he said.

Shen Yun's performances also are meant to uplift the human spirit. Mr. Campbell noted this aspect of the performance.

"It's so morally uplifting. It was very dynamic," he said. "It brought out something--that this earth can be a wonderful paradise, and that's the message I got from that."

He said that the show gave him insight on "how to deal with certain tests and trials, and how the light will always outdo the dark. It was wonderful. It was really wonderful."

He added, "Everything was all as one--It was all beautiful. Because it all had a message in it. It had a message for humanity."
