(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 49 Falun Dafa practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 26 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Liaoning Province] Mr. Shi Wei Tortured in the Shenyang Dabei Prison
Mr. Shi Wei was secretly sentenced to a 5-year prison term by the Lishan District Court in Anshan City. He is being detained in the Shenyang Dabei Prison. Prior to the 2010 New Year, his mother visited him. He told her that because of his firm belief in Falun Dafa, the jail guards ordered prisoners to monitor and torture him. He was denied sleep for nine days and had to perform hard labor.
2. [Tianjin] Mr. Gu Xueshuang Arrested
On the morning of February 25, 2010, Han, a policeman from the Domestic Security Division in Tanggu District, Tianjin and officers from the Hangzhoudao Police Station, Tanggu District arrested Mr. Gu Xueshuang at his workplace. Then, they ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, printer and other personal properties. Mr. Gu is detained at the Hangzhoudao Police Station.

3. [Beijing] Mr. Li Zhanjin Detained
Mr. Li Zhanjin, a practitioner from Beijing, was detained in the Sujiatuo Detention Center in Haidian District, Beijing. The police didn't issue an arrest warrant until January 28, 2010. Mr. Li Zhanjin is now being detained in the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center. The Beijing Procuratorate, No. 1 Branch has filed a case in the city's court system.
4. [Tai'an City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Pinggang, His Wife and Son Sentenced
Mr. Yang Pinggang, 54, is a practitioner from Tai'an City, Shandong Province. He is a former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Secretary of Tai'an District Township in Tai'an City, Shandong Province. In September 2005, he was arrested and sentenced to a 6-year prison term. In May 2006, he was taken to the Tai'an Prison in Shandong Province.
Due to their firm belief in Falun Dafa, Mr. Yang and his family suffered imprisonment and persecution. Ms. Chang Lijun, who is Mr. Yang Pinggang's wife, was detained in the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp and later released. Mr. Yang Keming, who is Mr. Yang Pinggang's son, was detained in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province.
In 2008, Mr. Yang Pinggang reported to the jail guards and renounced the four statements that he wrote under duress. The guards then further abused him. A prisoner was assigned to monitor him around the clock, and he was locked into a cell except for restroom visits. Mr. Yang Pinggang looks pale and haggard.
5. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Zuoai Detained
On January 9, 2010, police officers from the Dongguan Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Zuoai. She is being detained in the Gaomi City Detention Center.
6. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
On February 24, 2010, officials from the local 610 Office arrested several practitioners from Huantai County, Zibo City, including Mr. Li Yuxiang, head of the Huantai County Falun Dafa Assistance Center, along with his wife Ms. Shu Jinlan, Ms. Li Yubao, Mr. Zhang Kuixian and Mr. Wang Hongbao. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
In 2001, officials from the local 610 Office sentenced Mr. Li Yuxiang to 3 years of forced labor. His daughter Ms. Li Cong was sentenced to 3 years of forced labor. His son Mr. Li Shusen was sentenced to an 11-year prison term. In 2004, Mr. Li Yuxiang was sentenced to another year of forced labor. Mr. Zhang Kuixian and Mr. Wang Hongbao were harassed and mistreated many times by the local 610 Office.
7. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Guimei Detained in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp
In the early November 2009 (lunar calendar), police from Shouguang City, Shandong Province arrested Ms. Yang Jiaomei, a practitioner from Yingli Town, and took her to a detention center. One month later, they sentenced her to one year of forced labor and transferred her to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. In addition, many local practitioners were harassed and detained. They extorted 5,999 yuan from a practitioner who lives in Chahe Village, Shouguang City.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Xiumin Arrested
On the morning of February 25, police from the Yongji Street Police Station arrested Ms. Wang Xiumin, a practitioner from Wanghuaozhuang Village, Qishuzhuang Town, Fengrun District, Tangshan City when she was talking to people about Falun Gong near the Fengrun District Farmer's Market. The police ransacked her home in the afternoon.

9. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Xia on Trial
Ms. Liu Xia, a practitioner from Xinyang City, Henan Province, is on trial in a Henan Province court.
10. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wu Shaoyun Sentenced
In January 2007, officials from the Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Wu Shaoyun, a 58-year-old retired teacher who worked at the Big Arch Bridge Primary School in Xinyang City. She was sentenced to a 4-year prison term and taken to the Xinxiang Women's Prison.
11. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Li Mei Sentenced to a Five Year Prison Term
Ms. Li Mei, a former superior judge at the Hefei City Intermediate Court, was sentenced to a five-year prison term. Her appeal was denied. On February 23, she was taken to the Suzhou Women's Prison in Anhui Province.
12. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Several Practitioners Arrested and Sentenced
On February 2, 2010, the local court sentenced Ms. Wang Guaiyan, Ms. Qiang Huilan and Ms. Wang Songxia during a session that ended at 1:00 p.m.
13. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Zhu Rongzhen Arrested
On February 24, police officers from the local police station arrested Ms. Zhu Rongzhen, who is in her 50s. She is from Kunming City, Yunnan Province, and was arrested when she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong and handing out Falun Gong materials at Chenggong County Farmer's Market.
14. [Chongqing City] Ms. Guo Yunqing and Ms. Zhu Zancui Sentenced to Forced Labor
At about 4:00 p.m. on January 15, 2010, police officers from the Fengshan Police Station, Changshou District, Chongqing City arrested Ms. Guo Yunqing and Ms. Zhu Zancui, practitioners from Changshou District, Chongqing City when they were talking to people about Falun Gong at the New Century Mall in Changshou District. They are being detained in the Changshou Detention Center.
In February, Ms. Guo and Ms. Zhu were sentenced to one year of forced labor. Each of them was taking care of an elderly mother who is in her 80s, who are now left without care.
15. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Liyan Sentenced to Forced Labor
On January 19, 2010, police arrested Ms. Yang Liyan, a practitioner from Guangzhou City. She is being detained in the Tianhe District Detention Center in Guangzhou City. According to her family, Ms. Yang was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Her family members were not allowed to see her.
16. [Chongqing City] Ms. Zhao Zongzhen Arrested and Detained
Police officers from the Longxi Town Police Station, Yubei District, Chongqing City arrested Ms. Zhao Zongzhen, an elderly practitioner from Chongqing City. She is being detained in the Yiwanshui Detention Center in Yubei District of Chongqing City.
17. [Hubei Province] Practitioners from Beijing Transferred to Wuhan Women's Forced Labor Camp
Prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, many Falun Gong practitioners from Beijing were transferred to forced labor camps in other provinces. Some were transferred to the Wuhan Women's Forced Labor in Hubei Province, including Ms. Yang Mei, Ms. Yu Huandi, Ms. Zhang Jie, Ms. Shi Xiaolan, Ms. Lu Fulian, Ms. Pei Hongxia, Ms. Qi Yuling, Ms. Yang Jinghui, Ms. Liu Lichun, Ms. Liu Xiaochun, Ms. Hou Cuiying, Ms. Zhang Fang, Ms. Zhao Yumin, Ms. Chen Manxin, Ms. Jin Yulan, Ms. Xiao Guofang, Ms. Duan Xia, Ms. Zhang Shufang, Ms. Yang Xiaolan, Ms. Gong Ruiping, Ms. Xiang Guilan, Ms. Zhang Xiaoli, Ms. Zhang Shuying, Ms. He Xiangxiu, Ms. Yao Baoli, Ms. Yun Rui, Ms. Zhang Jinliang, Ms. Zhang Guifang, Ms. Du Jinxiu and Ms. Feng Ping.
Ms. Zhang Jie's term was extended because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Yang Jinghui, Ms. Yang Xiaofeng, Ms. Gong Ruiping, Ms. Zhang Fang, Ms. Zhao Yumin and Ms. Lu Fulian are being closely monitored and tortured because of their firm belief in Falun Dafa. Each of them was assigned a prisoner who monitors and tortures them.
18. [Shanghai] Ms. Dai Zhiying Arrested Again
Ms. Dai Zhiying, a practitioner from Shanghai, was arrested again.
19. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Arrested
On January 10, 2010, police officers from the local Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Wei Lanying and Ms. Meng, practitioners from Jitai, Shouguang City, Shandong Province. Their whereabouts are unknown.
20. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Yu Detained
On January 2, 2010, police officers from the Guangming Police Station in Xiangyang District, Hegang City arrested Ms. Liu Yu, a practitioner from Hegang City, when she was telling people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Xiangyang Police Station took Ms. Liu Yu to the Hegang City No. 2 Detention Center in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province.

21. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested by 610 Officials
On the morning of February 24, 2010, officials from the Huantai County 610 Office arrested Mr. Li Yuxiang and his wife Ms. Shu Jinlan, Ms. Li Yubao, Mr. Zhang Kuixian and other practitioners from Huantai County, Zibo City, Shandong Province. Their whereabouts are unknown.
22. [Wendeng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yingsen Arrested
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on February 23, 2010, Xiang Hongping and police from the Wendeng City Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Wang Yingsen, who is in her 70s and a practitioner from Wendeng City, at a market. Later, they broke into her home and confiscated her Dafa books and personal property.
23. [Wudi County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuexia Sentenced to Forced Labor
At the end of 2009, local police sentenced Ms. Wang Yuexia, a practitioner from Xinyang, Wudi County, Shandong Province to one year and nine months of forced labor. She was transferred from the Xinyang Detention Center to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City.
24. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Additional Persecution News
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 23, 2010, police from Heishan County Police Bureau and the local police stations arrested Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes.
Liu Yandong, deputy director of Heishan Police Bureau, and other police officers arrested Mr. Zhang Yulin and Mr. Zhan Zhigang. They confiscated Mr. Zhan's computer and Mr. Zhang Yulin's notebook. Many practitioners and their families were harassed by police from that area.
About ten practitioners were arrested including: Mr. Chen Guoliang, Mr. Guo Yifu from Taihe Town, Mr. Liu Guanghai, Mr. Tian Baojie (since released) and another female practitioner (since released) from Xinlitun Town; Mr. Zhang Pengyun from Changxing Town; and Mr. Fan Guangyuan, a practitioner's family member from Erdao Village, Raoyanghe Town.
We have confirmed that six practitioners and one practitioner's family member are being detained in the Heishan County Police Station.
