Wuhan Resident Arrested in Beijing and Sent Back for Brainwashing

March 25, 2010 |   By our correspondent from Hubei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 13, 2009, Mr. Zheng Xiaoqi, a practitioner from Wuhan, went to Beijing to obtain a visa to visit family abroad. While there, he was arrested and taken to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center in the Jiangan District in Wuhan. He has since been released.

That day, Mr. Zheng handed in his ID to an officer who then processed it. Half an hour later he was arrested by agents from the State Security Bureau.

After Mr. Zheng was arrested, the agents first contacted the Wuhan office in Beijing, trying to get them take Mr. Zheng away. However the security officers were told that Mr. Zheng just wanted to visit his family, so they refused to take him. Then the agent from the State Security Bureau called Xincun Police Station in Wuhan and asked them if they knew that Mr. Zheng would traveling abroad.

The Xincun police said, "We know. Why are you asking about this?"

The agent snarled, "Because it is Zheng Xiaoqi, so we cannot let him go abroad."

The Xincun police then said, "Let him go, please. He didn't do anything."

The agent said, "We will contact the 610 Office in Wuhan, and you will send someone for him then."

Mr. Zheng was detained for 10 days in the detention center, then sent to the Chenjiaji Brainwashing Center by the Wuhan 610 Office.

After all that, a person contacted Cheng Yang, the officer who was supposed to help Mr. Zheng obtain a visa, and said, "How can you have people arrested so easily!"

Cheng retorted, "He (Mr. Zheng) practices Falun Gong. Falun Gong is illegal. There are rules about not issuing visas to them. Who are you? What's your name? Where do you live?"

To date, the visa office has not returned any money submitted by Mr. Zheng to cover fees for the visa.
