(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in seven provinces. In this report, 20 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 21 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Pingdu, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Zhenbo Unable to Stand Due to Gross Abuse and Mistreatment

Ms. Chen Zhenbo, 45, is an accountant at the Pingdu City Seed Company. She was incarcerated at the Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp's No. 2 Team for over a year. She became disabled due to the gross abuse and torture in the camp, and she can no longer take care of herself. One of her left ribs pushes on her internal organs, making it difficult for her to breathe. She suffers unbearable pain in the cervical and lumbar vertebrae, is unable to stand, and feels dizzy and nauseous.

Ms. Chen refused to renounce Falun Gong over the year's incarceration, so the labor camp authorities denied her family visitation rights.

2. [Daqing, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Han Guirong and Two Others Arrested

Ms. Han Guirong, elderly Ms. Yang and her husband from the Saertu District were arrested on February 25, 2010. Huizhan Police Department officers made the arrest and ransacked Ms. Han's home.

3. [Qian'an City, Hebei Province] Ms. Tang Xiuqin and Her Daughter Ms. Jia Qiufen Arrested

Ms. Tang Xiuqin, who is in her sixties, is from Dayushu, Xiaguanying Town. She and her daughter, Ms. Jia Qiufen, 36, from Tangzhuang Village, Kouzhuang Township, were arrested at Ms. Tang's home at around 9:00 a.m. on March 1, 2010. Agents from the Qian'an City Domestic Security Division made the arrest, ransacked her home, and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and a brochure.

Qian'an Domestic Security Division agents had previously arrested Ms. Tang and Ms. Jia, on November 29, 2008, and held the two practitioners at the Qian'an City Detention Center for fifteen days. Their families were forced to pay more than 17,000 yuan in bribes to secure their release.

4. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Elementary School Teacher Mr. Li Zhenhuan Arrested

Mr. Li Zhenhuan, 38, was arrested at home on the evening of January 19, 2010, and his computer was confiscated. Mr. Li is a teacher at the Jinquanwan Elementary School in the Taiping District, Xichong County, Nanchong City. He was arrested because he encouraged students in his class to renounce the Young Pioneers (an organization affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party). His family went to the Nanchong City Detention Center to visit him and found that he was shaved bald.

5. [Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Zhirong and Others Arrested

Agents from Mudanjiang City Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office arrested Ms. Zhou Zhirong, Ms. Zhang Ping and Mr. Zhang Jiliang on March 1, 2010. The police are monitoring Ms. Zhou's store.

6. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xiangzhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiangzhen, who is in her sixties, is from Changchun City. She was reported on February 26, 2010, as she spoke with people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Zhongdong Police Station and then transported to the Pudong Road Police Station. She is now at a detention center.

7. [Shandong Province] Jilin Province Police Arrest Mr. Zhang Beiqi in Qingdao

Mr. Zhang Beiqi from Jilin Province was arrested in late February 2010 at his parents-in-law's home in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Police from Jilin Province made the arrest. Mr. Zhang had previously been sentenced to five years in prison, and was held in the Tiebei Prison and the Jilin Prison. He was subjected to the "stretching bed" torture, and was in critical condition many times. He was paralyzed as a result of the persecution inflicted upon him before being sent to the prison. He recovered through doing the Falun Gong exercises. Mr. Zhang was released in March 2009.

8. [Gaobeidian, Hebei Province] Ms. Sheng Xiuwen Grossly Abused and Tortured

Gaobeidian Police Department officer Zhao Jun, along with eight other officers, arrested Ms. Zheng Xiuwen and three other practitioners in late October 2000, and took them to the Gaobeidian Shooting Range. The practitioners were subjected to daily gross abuse and mistreatment. They were forced to run and stand for long periods of time. A man surnamed Zhao punched and kicked the practitioners. The persecutors tried to force the practitioners to each write a guarantee statement, promising to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Sheng Xiuwen was forced to pay 3,000 yuan, without getting a receipt.

9. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Elementary School Teacher Ms. Qi Lei Arrested

Ms. Qi Lei, 30, is a teacher at the Lu Town No. 1 Elementary School. She was arrested at 4:00 p.m. on February 23, 2010, as she was talking with people about Falun Gong. Officers from the Chengdong Police Station made the arrest. Agents from the Junan County 610 Office took her to the Linyi Detention Center at 8:00 p.m. that night. 610 Office agents Liu Xipeng, Chen Xin, Ma Zongtao and others searched Ms. Qi's workplace and proceeded to ransack the homes of her mother and older brother that same night. They intimidated and harassed Ms. Qi's workplace officials and her mother and brother the next day. Ms. Qi's father is a disabled army veteran, confined to a wheelchair. He needs to be cared for.

10. [Shouguang, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Shiheng and His Wife Arrested

Shouguang State Security agents arrested Mr. Zhao Shiheng and his wife on October 23, 2009, and ransacked their home. The agents brutally beat the couple and held them at the Shouguang Detention Center. Mr. Zhao's wife was taken to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, to be held for one year and three months.

11. [Jiangxi Province] Ms. He Chunhua from Jiujiang Light Machinery Factory is Missing

Ms. He Chunhua, 70, works at the Jiujiang Light Machinery Factory. She went missing on February 25, 2010 after she left home.

12. [Leshan, Sichun Province] Ms. Hu Ruifang and Ms. Zhao Shuqiong Arrested

Ms. Hu Ruifang and Ms. Zhao Shuqiong from Leshan were arrested on February 27, 2010 as they spoke with people about Falun Gong in Datian Village in the central district. Their homes were ransacked, and they are now at the Shizhushan Police Station.

13. [Tianjin] Retired Teacher Ms. Liu Baozhen Held at the Hongqiao Detention Center

Ms. Liu Baozhen is employed at Tianjin's No. 5 Middle School. She was arrested as she distributed Falun Gong materials at the entrance to the Xigu Park. She is being held at the Hongqiao Detention Center.

14. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Ji Guoxiang's Home Ransacked

Officers from the Chalukou Town Police Station went to Mr. Ji Guoxiang's home at around 4:00 p.m. on March 2, 2010. They confiscated a Falun Gong book. Mr. Ji was able to escape.

15. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuying, Ms. Li Yan and Others Held in Custody

Huifeng Police Station officials sentenced Ms. Zhang Xiuying from Taiyuan City to one year of forced labor. She is now at the Shanxi Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Li Yan, who suffers from hepatitis, was forcibly sent to the Shanxi Women's Prison on December 29, 2009.

Ms. Zhi Qin, from Xishan, Taiyuan City, is now being held at the Taiyuan City Detention Center, facing trial.

Mr. Wang Zhigang from Taiyuan City has been held in the Qi County Prison. He has blurred vision in one eye.

16. [Shanghai] Ms. Qiu Xiaoyun Arrested and Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Qiu Xiaoyun, from Shanghai, traveled to Zhangjiagang for an errand on July 13, 2009. She has been held at the Zhangjiagang Detention Center for over six months. No further information about her has been received.

17. [Yushu, Jilin Province] Mr. Zuo Zhongren and His Wife Ms. Wei Yunxia Arrested

Mr. Zuo Zhongren and his wife, Ms. Wei Yunxia, from Yushu City, were arrested at home on February 21, 2010.

18. [Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Shuyi Arrested

Officers from the Wula Street Police Station in the Longtan District arrested Mr. Wang Shuyi at 8:00 p.m. on March 2, 2010.

19. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Goes Missing

Ms. Lu, who is in her fifties, went shopping on the morning of March 2, 2010, but did not return home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

20. [Dongguan, Guangdong Province] Ms. Tang Wenyan Faces Trial

Ms. Tang Wenyan, 41, is a history teacher at the Xinhui Middle School. Shenzhen City police officers arrested her in 2003 for speaking with her students about Falun Gong, and incarcerated her at the Guangdong Province Women's Forced Labor Camp for two years. After she left the labor camp through righteous thoughts, she worked as a history teacher for private schools in Zhuhai, Shenzhen and other regions. She taught at the Yantian Epoch Talents School in 2009, but was arrested on September 8, 2009 (lunar calendar), when she distributed Falun Gong materials. Officers from the Yantian Police Station took her to the Dongguan City No. 1 Detention Center and denied her family visitation rights.

Ms. Tang's family received a phone call from the Dongguan City Intermediate Court on February 22, 2010, informing them that a trial was scheduled for Ms. Tang at 10:00 a.m. on March 3, 2010.

21. [Weihai, Shandong Province] Mr. Song Xiuchang, Ms. Wang Xiao and Ms. Liang Cailing Held in Custody

Three practitioners were arrested on February 1, 2010, in Luojia Village, Wenquan Town in the Huancui District. The arrested practitioners include Mr. Song Xiuchang, from Jiangjiazhai Village, Wenquan Town in the Huancui District, Ms. Wang Xiao, from Zhaixi Ximen in Weihai City, and Ms. Liang Cailing, from Quanyujia Village, Boyu Town, Weihai City Economic and Technological Development Zone. They are now being held at the Weihai City Detention Center.

22. [Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Dadong District Court Officials Schedule Trial for Ms. Wang Yan

Ms. Wang Yan, 55, from Shenyang City, was sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2000. After being released, Ms. Wang was sentenced to another three years of prison in 2002 for talking with people about Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang was arrested again in December 2009 for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She is being held at the Shenyang City Detention Center. Dadong District Court officials recently attempted to try her.

23. [Daqing, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhou Guangji and Mr. Wang Jianhui Arrested

Officers from the Tieren Police Department arrested Mr. Zhou Guangji and Mr. Wang Jianhui, from the Saertu District, on February 28, 2010. The police also ransacked his home. The two practitioners are now held at the Saertu District Detention Center and city detention center.
